Seth is a 50/50 character, his strengths come out after the knockdown because he forces his opponent to guess correctly or else they eat a nasty combo into a potential reset which then puts his opponent in another 50/50 situation, I agree he’s fun but be prepared to eat a bunch of losses because you mess up a combo or your opponent blocks your mixup correctly. You can’t really play footsies with him either. But hey if you like him go for it, I’m planning on dropping seth if they nerf his dp in the next patch.
Also work on your anti air game and learn matchups! rock howard plays nothing like seth, more like el fuerte with a good shoryuken.
The move set dude, Like his fireballs, a 360 grab, a good knock away move (the elbow for rock, the kicks for Seth ). Decent set of normals thats why I compared his move set to Rock lol, I know they don’t play anything like each other.
He can be played lame, not as well as he could back in super, but he still has the options
I was talking to Campbell earlier today about this, playing against Fei Long feels like when you’re losing to Bison only he’s on the semi-offensive. CBL disagrees with me, but I see it. Point is, at least offensively, Bison shares a few similar traits with Fei that you might welcome or want to be rid of. Also, Fei’s super easy to play and stupid good too.
As for Seth, I’m of the opinion that he’s much too hard to play for anyone in Dallas to play correctly except for Jop Macho. Did you guys hear what he did to those south american drug dealer guys clear cutting the rain forests for the personal gain from making smoke factories and coca plantations? …sad thing about those monkeys though.
Play gief. Due to how direct he is, he really teaches you to pay attention to your opponents habits in a straight forward and repetitive manner. It’s a great skill set you can apply to almost any character.
I was at Quakecon last year and didn’t even bother signing up. I knew it was going to a nightmare. It was and I heard that the bracket got deleted or something halfway through the tourney.
OK, so I have an update. I went to do a check on the wiring at Orange Bar and I learned some pretty shitty things. All the TV are set up around the bar, and I cannot figure out a way that we could get the PS3’s or 360s hooked up to those or the projector and still use our sticks (the projector is mounted above the bar). Please bear in mind that this place is not huge, so I was hoping we would not have to set up stations for all this shit and just go off their electronics. I think we could hook up 2-4 screens at some tables, or use the back area to hook up the same, but it would be ideal if we could use their TVs.
Also, please bear in mind that my knowledge of this stuff is rudementary at best.
Kerry, just stick with Bison. Bison is a super solid character. I’m leaning towards dropping Rog for Bison. I would only play Rog for certain matchups. Honda… cough, cough.
Bison is pretty much a Rog. He has more of an offense in my opinion. A 3 frame crouching attack, cross-ups, mixups and a corner trap. He has about the same health as Rog. If you space right, he has good anti-airs. Not as good as footsies as Rog, but they are a little below them. St.fw is super good and St.rh is a good AA. The only thing I hate about Bison, is that his sweep is garbage. You can’t wif punish into an untechable knockdown. But as far as everything else goes, Bison is better than Rog.
But if you really don’t feel like playing Bison anymore, I would pick up Gief. He has a lot of health to deal with and really good mixup game. And his mixup game is pretty simple. You just have to learn to read your opponent. Punish with KKK spd to get a good mixup afterwards. St.str is your best friend. And learn to buffer EX BF from st.sh or cr.sh. St.sh is better though since it has more range, but it’s a tad bit harder. I like Zangief because people won’t jump in at you. Just be patient and walk them into the corner.
I might try out Zangief for a bit. The only reason I’m looking for a new character is because Bison has just gotten really boring to play. A bit after Super came out I was just looking to have fun with the game, so I dropped Bison and have been hopping around ever since.
I don’t know how many times I’ve said I’m gonna play “so and so” and then switch to someone else a few weeks later. I probably should have realized it when I seriously considered playing with Gen.
I’m starting to take SF seriously again, but I don’t wanna stick with a character that bores the shit outta me. I dunno.
For now I just wanna work on basic stuff because my fundamentals and knowledge of the game aren’t where I want them to be.
