Our next regional coming up. Bigger, better, more sponsors! Jan 28-29, 2012 $500+ Bonus pot!
This is sexy
If you donāt go who else is going to yell BOOM really loud? Oh waitā¦
Anything big this weekend?
$25 venue fee for the Killeen tourny. Not so sexy. Not that I wonāt try to make it outā¦but why so expensiveā¦
Yeah that doesnāt look good at all. If it was 25$ entry for the tournament then thatād be pretty sweet. Either way, most fighting game players are too broke for that high a buy in.
Hey guys, itās really the venue fee, weāre trying to work it out so itās lower, but thereās not much we can really do. Keep in mind, weāre not making money, and it is a two day event.
The real issue is that we donāt have a head count. Since we have no idea on how many people are going to attend, but since weāre renting out the venue, PLUS the place next door as a casuals area too. Itās really a lot of money for this stuff, and we need the help we can get. Also keep in mind that the bonus pot comes out of our pocket. So weāre also trying to recoup some of money plus the bonus prizes we pay for. It takes a lot of money to get the ball rolling, but we need to make our money back.
I do understand that it is a lot of money, but if we could get some more people to confirm, it may be possible to get the venue fee lowered. However, we wonāt know until it gets closer to that time frame to be honest.
Guys feel free to bash us, we want some kinda of response, whether it be good or bad. We just want our event to be good, that itās worth the drive for. Also, we do have a few people that have confirmed from out of state too. Mainly the Wichita Area, so weāre working on it.
It isnāt a local tourney and it covers the whole weekend. It is normally $3.25/hour. This covers you for both days and allows you to play for as long as you want. A day pass is like $20 alone, so this is really a great deal. If This event was a small local event and one day, the venue fee would be cheaper. Please keep in mind that is isnāt just a āKilleenā Tourney, but a Southwest Regional and are awaiting to see if our application gets approved for it to become part of the Evo 2012 Tournament Season. Remember, Texas nor any other locations in the Southwest had an Evo spot for qualifiers. This is going to be big, gentlemen, but it requires the support of not just the surrounding cities, but everyone within the region.
If there are any further questions, please feel free to direct them in the CTB tourney thread.

Hey Dallas, just wanted to give everyone a reminder that BLOODBATH&BEYOND:III is happening next weekend in Houston.Would be great to see you guys come out again⦠these boys are still mad salty about BLOODBATH2. Come defend your title and show 'em how itās done, again!
Werenāt yall doing a user confirmation via challonge or something similar last time?
Yeah, it was terrible, a lot of people who signed up didnāt show, and we had to figure out who did and who didnāt. It really screwed the brackets up. T6 especially.
This year, weāre doing pre-reg with confirmation payment via paypal. We havenāt set that up just yet though, but should be done within the next few weeks.
What I would do with that is have the pre-reg payments just for the games, and make it known that your venue fee MIGHT be 25, but could be lower depending on entrants, then charge the venue on site, while informing attendees what the final amount will be beforehand. Just an idea.
Yes, we are getting with the venue owner to discuss numbers. He has a business to run and we donāt him him to lose money by proving us unlimited gaming for less than a dayās pass, especially if the event is 2 days. Heās been really cool with helping us and obtaining extra space if needed. We understand that our event isnāt Evo or anything, but one of the challenges of being a TO is working with the venue owner to ensure that they will benefit from having a tournament and to establish a fair fare.
Iāll make sure to address that, thanks Adnan. We have a paypal account up and ready and will be posting it within a week with instruction on how to pay and sign up. Any other details you think we may have overlooked, please let us know. We want everyone to have the best CTB experience we can provide. Looking forward to seeing you again. I may even enter SF this time!

Personally, I much prefer single day events. 2 day stuff seems to drag on just too long. I honestly donāt think an event in Texas can garner enough players where 2 days is really warrantedā¦
FC tomorrow starting at 8. We will end a little early this week because I have work the next morning
With the amount of players and games planned, one day will not be possible unless we start at 0800 and run it till midnight. Given the amount of available equipment, staff, players⦠yes, but this isnāt an ordinary event, my friend. I would love for it to be a day, but no one wants to wait around all day to play and watch each game. Plus, players need rest. Back in the day, it was possible because we werenāt having multiple games to run and over 90 players entered. If you check out all the other regional and major tourneys, they are running 2-3 days. That is the direction we are headed with these types of events. If it were a local tourney, 1 day would suffice.
I donāt mind being at a tourney that runs into 2am, but those days there were only MvC2, 3S, and CvS2, with CvS2 taken the longest to complete. Many factors play into the decision each TOs announces dates and length. Many venues close at specific times and some charge extra for going over closing times. Also the opening times for venues are different, so starting earlier isnāt much of an option. People traveling⦠you know that our community loves showing up late to tournaments and many sleep in. Hell, even at Evo people were running late and getting DQ. I know, because I was a judge and every single pool I ran, had missing people due to sleeping in/through or showing up late and starting in the losers bracket.
Itās tough, man and we do appreciate hearing your opinion and I cannot agree more, but in the end it depends on the venue, type of event, number of participants, equipment available, GOOD scheduling, etc⦠Did you make down for the last one? Anyway, thanks for posting  this will help with the scheduling a lot. We want to avoid the dragging on part, but that is where the pool system comes in which is being adopted by many TOs. If you listen to WakeUp SRK, Keits talks about the pool system he has came up with and that is something we are going to do. This will make the event run faster and more smoothly. Evo this year followed the pool system and many people liked how that worked out.
Again, if there is anything else you may want to suggest, hit us up via pm or the tournament thread. Thanks!

LoL, itās funny cause this is what we were planning to do. We have our meeting sometime this following week, and this will be discussed for sure. Iām keeping my eye on this thread, please keep posting, we want to be able to accommodate most people on our tourney so CTB gets better and better.
