Justin beat Raoh, who is Japanese. The japanese are on record saying that Justin would be a top player in japan as well, and I think i’ve even heard that Justin might have the top Chun-li period in the world. Also, from what I’ve been told, he’ll be heading to Japan this winter so he’ll see exactly where he is (although we already have a very good idea).
There was a big thread on Justin vs pyrolee, and I’d have to say at best its a tossup. I’d rank Justin higher just because he enters and wins more tournies, and so pryo can’t really rank above him. I’d also rank Justin higher because I’m from the EC, and even pyro said he realizes EC people would probably do that. pyros argument is that the rankings are like boxing, whereas I look at it more like tennis because its a tourney format.
Whatever happenned to Ricky Ortiz for 3s? Last year he beat Daigo but they did all this bullshit to take it away from him. I think both Justin and Ricky can beat Daigo. Just as Daigo can beat them both. Thats why its a rivalry. They really aren’t as far apart as all the Daigo fanboys would have you believe. I’m assuming pyrolee would be up there as well, but I don’t know much about him and his tourney record.
Btw, Ricky and Choi have both been good for years. I think for the past 3 years the US has improved leaps and bounds and has been competitive at Evo. Ricky and Choi are bother Japanese in disguise.
I’m from the West Coast and i believe justin wong is the best 3s player pyro is hella fucking good but there is times were he doesnt win wong as far as i have seen wins all the majors for 3s except evo. And wong placed really high at evo i saw pyro saying something like “FFA tourney was my evo” Well thats mighty fine but EVO was the biggest 3s tourney in the us and wong out placed all americans i think?
The FFA tourney had more top players and, imo, is the tourney worth respecting. How did Jwong do vs. the best there? No dis on Jwong at all. I’m just pointing out that FFA was the real tourney for 3sers. The sticks provided at Evo were a joke. Everyone at FFA had the same controls. Standard+better players=better tournament.
If I were to measure players by one tourney this year, it would be the FFA one and certainly not Evo. Too much ridiculous shiet happened at Evo. Even top players lost due to missed shiet. I can’t take that shiet seriously. It’s more about who luckily doesn’t fudge up on console the least than it is about who the best player really is.
Whatever the case, Justin could be called the best Chun in the world although, character vs. character doesn’t mean as much to me, Raoh and Justin both made it far and Justin took him out. 'Nuff said.
Apoc.
HYPER STREET FIGHTER 2 EXHIBITION
anyone got any links for these matches?
streams or direct dls, whichever! :]
read the topic before posting questions linke that… see page 9
I agree with Apoc on the chun vs chun part. How could anyone say: “ooh justin has the best chun in the world because he beat the #1 chun.” Now lets just say for example Raoh beats 90% of the 3s players with Chun, but loses to Justin’s Chun. Now Justin beats 75% of the 3s players with chun, but wins against Raoh…
Its like a round robin tourney overall. The person with the most points wins, not by Chun vs Chun proving who has the better chun. (Yeah I know I’m not making sense)
page 4 now but sorry about that
Heh I was saying I dont make sense to retards like you.
You probably didnt even read my post you dumb fuck. I was stating just because Justin beat Raoh doesn’t make him the #1 chun.
KTHXBYE
The only people who still say kthxbye are pimple faced teenage fags.
Nice try. Jeff Schaefer(years past retired) just played Daigo and handled him pretty well at ol skool. Just because US players suck now doesn’t mean that’s US potential. Top US ST players have been getting by on NOTHING for years. It just took the majority hella years to catch up to rusty ol’ cali players. If we all played together and actually practiced the game, it’d be waaaaaay different.
Too bad I can’t find any og world’s finest tourney tapes. Compare those to ANY ol skool tourney in Japan(I’ve seen plenty). Cali knew waaaay more back then. We just stopped and Japan has a gaming culture and so, they didn’t.
I, myself, haven’t practiced with a top player since Valle’s house just before B5 with Painter, Romedy and Tragic.
As much as we love the game, outside of Cali, it’s hard to get serious comp so, I don’t think most bother.
To say that Mike Watson isn’t world class is a poor joke. Dude has one bad showing(rather some others were mighty HOT) at Evo(on console I might add) and ppl trip. Get a firmer grip on reality.
Apoc.
Good for you…
what do i download to play ram can somebody list the site
Nuki is #1 chun in japan, not raoh.
And justin is best in usa.
Japan > FFA > USA
Edit: Apoc was right on about the world championships of 3s and the console evo thing.
Why do people keep complaining about the consoles, if you’re really that good you should be able to adapt to the situation that you have to play in…and for those people that can’t, don’t
they have sticks that are hooked up to the console?
Real player…
At that level of play, it’s like a totally different game.
sometimes I heard Raoh, sometimes Nuki. Who really decides that?
Btw, I was rewatching the sbo2 finals… and… wtf was Nuki doing against J?
1st round, blocked super (slow reaction time to whiffed karakusa couldn’t he just hit crouching forward and hit confirm anyways)?
3rd round, even worse, he tried to reversal super makoto’s short (lol).
I’m not saying that nuki isn’t good (it would be dumb); still, it’s not common to see him do blatant mistakes like those in a single match.
I think that KO and Boss wished to kill him after the match
Duly noted, and I think I slowly begin to appreciate your stance.
That Justin, not Daigo, is the most “complete” player was my whole argument to begin with. The most recent tournament to include both players was EVO2K4, so those are the most reliable results we have. Admittedly, due to console randomness (which, mind you, did not favor any particular region), their accuracy may still be questionable. At any rate, as I said, based on the EVO results, Justin had a more balanced showing (final 8 in four different games).
However, I realize now that, in Daigo’s favor, he seems to actually travel to and prove himself at a lot of these overseas events. Justin, until he does the same, will still have more to prove on the international stage.
