Damn. Sol fucking shit up. Cuongster needs a “get this nigga off me” button. Tight work from both though.
damn daigo is no joke he got skills in everything i never even played gg before but i can tell hes the truth
I can’t seem to access the Hyper Fighting and CVS2 videos. Is anybody going to mirror them?
And Daigo’s Sol was a lot better than when I last saw him play… which was a long time ago, but still amazing how much the guy improved.
In all honesty, Daigo is a very good player in all of the games that he plays. But the one thing that most people don’t see is the fact that he isn’t the unstoppable beast that they think he is. Outside of Japan he seems like this unstoppable force, but in Japan it’s a different story. For instance, in Japan, Daigo gets beat all of the time in GGXX#R. I saw a vid of him being eliminated in the first round of a GGXX (not reload) tourny. I also have some vids where he owned someone and also got his ass handed to him. Like I said, he is a very solid player, but nowhere near unbeatable. I think that the rest of the world just needs to play catch up to Japan and smoke whatever it is that makes them so good at games. Please feel free to give your opinion, since that is all that I am doing, but don’t flame me thinking that I am underplaying his skill.
maybe its all that rice, could be the same reason asians always have crazy pop when skateboarding (hopes he doesn’t get banned over that comment)
but in Japan it’s a different story>>>>
Well, i have talked a lot with Yamamoto San (Tougeki’s and Beat Tribe’s manager…) about Daigo’skill in Japan. Even if he didn’t do well in GGXX tournament, he is still considered as a top 10 players in Japan. In CVS2, he placed 2nd in TOugeki 2003, in SSF2X, he won Tougeki 2K3 and he is considered as one of the best in this game. About third Strike, he improved a lot since 2003, firstly by beating Izu (tougeki’s 2003 winner) in Absolution last april… Then, he may not be the best player in all of those games in Japan, nevertheless he is the only one on earth who belongs to the strongest in all of them. Some players like Onuki, KO are the best in some games but only play those. Well, this guy deserves his legend.
Actually, that’s only 1/2 true. I think that vid you’re referring to is the New Saint Glory vid, which is where he beat an I-no, then lost to Potemkin. IIRC, that’s when he jus’ started playing GGXX.
But yeah, you’re right to some extent. He isn’t unbeatable, jus’ a solid player…in GGXX (#R or not). But IMO, he’s probably above being a solid player…I mean, his team did get pretty far at SBO1 (3rd, I think).
But in the SF world, saying he’s just a solid player is the understatement of the century. He’s called “The Beast” for a reason.
Of course, you didn’t mention any SF anywhere in your post, so don’t mind that part.
Jus’ my $.02.

They were the first team in the finals to lose, can’t remember their opponents since its all in Japanese. Never saw a 3rd place playoff either, so it was either 3rd or 4th.
Yes of course, first and above, Daigo is a Capcom Player, and the best the world has ever known for many reason (it not depends only about winning tournament, even of he did by the past at SF2, Z3, Savior etc.). Well i have met some other good japanese players (Bass, Ino…) but none have them had the same “spirit”. Well, it is a very personnal view ^^
points well taken, but to clear the vid situation; yes, I saw the NSG vid, but that isn’t the only ones that I have or have watched.
To Asenka: I never once said that he didn’t deserve his moniker, just saying that all the people that post on here thinking that he is unbeatable need to look deeper. I think he truly deserves his reputation as one of the best “Capcom” fighting game players ever. But as Geronimo said, I never mentioned his status in SF,only GGXX & #R. Again, all comments are welcome.
Actually, I think Justin Wong is, by now, probably the better overall player (and the best overall player in the world). At EVO2K4, Justin placed well ahead of Daigo in CvS2, and not far behind him in ST and 3S. Am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah, that’s right! There’s the fact that Justin has, for the last several years, completely owned MvC2, which gets more competition than any of those other games. Of course, the Japanese don’t play MvC2, but, still, Daigo can’t quite claim the same sort of record for any of the games that he does play. In other words, while Daigo is a top player in many games, Justin is a top player in at least as many games, including one where he’s better than Daigo (CvS2), and another where he’s the undisputed best in the world (MvC2).
Hope you are kidding… the level of gaming in both countries is not the same… yeah I’m a kung-fu champ for 10 years!!! hum what? Oh i’m the champ of Nairobi? what? I couldn’t beat anyone in china? ah ok… i see… not to diss justin (mad props for doing everything he does) but man your comparaison is even shittier than mine! (and damn mine was laaaaaaaaaaaaaame!)
So Justin is a better overall player because he’s better than Daigo at one game he doesn’t play? What
Daigo beat Justin at the pre-Evo tourney in CvS2 and did better in 3S as well. Yes, he was a major disappointment in CvS2 this year, but he’s definitely a better ST player, no contest in GGXX, and a better 3S player (just going by results).
add various fighting game names to your list ^^
The example I used, EVO2K4, was a tournament attended by top Japanese players, where Justin placed ahead of several Japanese players in 3S and beat Raoh, the top 3S Chun player in Japan (according to Buktooth), using his own Chun. Justin also placed ahead of Mike Watson in ST, and Watson is undisputably world-class. The only game where you might question Justin’s top player status is CvS2, where he placed ahead of Daigo anyway.
yeah, so daigo’s cool and all, he’s got the skills but i’d like to see them. Is anyone planning to mirror the CvS2 matches? personally, I don’t care as much about the SF2 matches but it seems a lot of other people do so is anyone gonna mirror those, too? or if anyone knows of any other cool daigo vids i can check out (aside from ken vs chun at evo) then i’m up for the links cause all ive seen are that evo one and the ones that got mirrored here. I need to see more! :crybaby:
Daigo is definitely better at ST and GGXX, slightly better at 3S, and CvS2 could be argued. But if we’re talking overall skill, why wouldn’t you include MvC2? asenka started off by pointing out that Daigo is a better overall player than KO or Ohnuki, because he’s good at more games, even if they’re better at certain games. Likewise, Justin is good (not necessarily better) at at least as many games as Daigo, WHILE being the absolute best at one.
remember that evo2k4 was a console tourney, something jap top players apparently dont even touch (thats why ppl like ino and bas didnt come they hate consoles).
regarding ST, mike watson is good but he aint world class. hell daigo ownz the hell out of all americans but he aint near the top in japan.
who knows what daigo is capable of if he didnt sandbag all the time.
justin is really good but boring as fuck to watch. Basically he just x-copies the top tier in whatever game and can win.
Daigo is random and pioneers his own style usually so people give him more props.
You can argue about who is better at more games, but i’d rather watch daigo play anyday. Even when he loses, it’s fun to watch.
