DAIGO not retired yet

no shit?

He played 3rd for five hours continuously with his best friend/rival Onuki that day

that part not clear enough for you?

It’s a head-to-head Versus Cabinet, Nuki is on the other side playing as Chun.

I’ve always wanted to meet Daigo in person. Or even better, face him in 3s. A recurring dream of mine is beating Daigo with Q (SA2). That would be the shit.

Well I just heard he will becoming to evo ^_^!!!

wow hes gonna earn a lot of money then

who thinks he’ll be going home with at least $20k?

$20k, no way, is he even training for anything other than 3s? I wouldn’t be suprised to see a finish in the money in several games, but he’s already lost in the cvs2 event before, and there are more game specific experts in slash / cvs2 etc… than ever before, plus who knows what will happen in hsf2 (and it’s less money).

The best chance for someone to win the most money IMO is justin, as he’s been actually competing in mvc2,cvs2, 3s, and maybe he’ll be up for t5 this time too? If he gets top finishes at evo east he’ll be the top ec seed at the finals and it’ll look pretty good for cashing in.

I totally forgot HSF2 had a $1250 grand prize. I guess Justin has the best shot at walking away with more than $10K. How about DOA4? I have no fucking clue who a “top player” is for that game. I could probably win it, and I’ve never even played the game.

I don’t think it is a such thing as a top player in DOA4. I’ve pulled off plenty of streaks just from mashing.

Some people are better then others at DOA but the game is basic enough you really won’t see the huge skill gaps you do in others.

Good to see the old A3 vids from '98 making the rounds … it’s about time that more people saw some old school dominance

Daigo’s best game is either 3S or ST … well, he DOES have the best Ken and the best Ryu respectively

i wanna see some daigo footage in ST

Regarding DOA, tournament results seem to be more random than in other games. There are a few consistent high placers though; ones that spring to mind include DOAMaster, JustOwnin, and Perfect Legend. I think these guys would be the favorites to win, although it’s hard to tell since this game has a ton of online players that haven’t really traveled. Sometimes these people, in their first time traveling to an offline tourney, actually win; one such guy even beat both Ownin and Legend to win a major (by DOA standards). It’s definitely the biggest crapshoot of any of the Evo games, even moreso than SF2 AE I think.

And Daigo could be very dangerous in GG Slash. Remember that Sol’s DP does way too much damage now…

Is there a vid where Daigo faces Alex Valle in the '98 SFA3 tourney?

There’s quite a bit of Daigo ST footage floating around the net, if you look around long enough. Most noteworthy are:

SBO1 ST Finals (Daigo - Ryu, Kurahashi - Guile, Otochun - Chun Li)

You can also check monmon999’s site:

There is also the 700MB Absolution 2004 Alpha 3 collection that might be on P2P or whatever; has a few Daigo V-Ryu matches, but it seems like he long gave up that game …

Daigo also played in the inaugural Ultimate Zero Direction tournament in '03, using V-Ryu, of course. His first round opponent (a V-Gouki) got very lucky and knocked him out in the first round.
