jab roll builds meter

It doesn’t. I checked.

…but doesn’t LP Roll, then HP Shoryuken build meter as well?

To break down:

Cr. LKx2, L2 Shoryureppa, jab roll, DP

Cr. LKx2: builds meter
L2 Shoryureppa: doesn’t build meter
jab roll: doesn’t build meter
DP: builds meter

Cr. LKx2, L2 Shoryureppa, whiff funky kick, DP

Cr. LKx2: builds meter
L2 Shoryureppa: doesn’t build meter
whiff funky kick: builds meter
DP: builds meter

So the second version, the one with the funky kick instead of the jab roll, leaves you with an extra chunk of meter.

The difference being, you gain meter from funky kick and HP Shoryuken, as opposed to just gaining meter from the Shoryuken and not the roll.

Edit : Beat to it.

Oh I see, sorry I thought what they meant was ending the Lvl. 2 ShoryuReppa with a funky kick

huh, well at least in the corner I Like doing, L.2 funky cancel, funky, L.1. Looks cool with 2 funky kicks in it. Never knew that jab roll doesn’t gain meter though…wierd.

I find it’s still best to cancel with the jab roll when not in the corner, to make it much easier to connect with the DP. I’d rather make it certain than risk it not connecting, just for a bit of meter.

However, in the corner, Ken is actually neutral much sooner with the funky kick, leaving more time to follow up with the juggle. Very useful.

problem is sometimes the funky kick actually hits them, rarely, but it can happen. So personally unless Im looking for flash or that little bit of meter to get the lvl 1, I use roll

instead of using lp roll, your can replace it with lk hurricane kick. is builds meter but you must time it perfectly or the hurricane will hit instead of wiff.

thank you for this
