CvS2 Videos Thread

EX grooves can be turned off in options.
Also, you can remove the memory card before loading the game.

As far I as know you can only get 2 c.LPs then the Flash Kick. If you do 3 c.LPs the Flash Kick will whiff.

c.LP > c.LP - rapidfire chain
c.LP > close s.MP - 2-frame link
c.LP > far s.MP - 1-frame link

You guys are random as hell. No gameplan whatsoever.

I’s suggest sticking with C for now, don’t bother playing A just yet. Learn basics, poking, hitconfirm (I didn’ see a single hitconfirm, just random supers), footsies (very important if you’re playing Vega, don’t just throw out random c.MP or c.HK), baiting moves, how to take advantages of every opening you get (Sagat whiffs a Tiger Uppercut, Sakura responds with s.HP, WTF?), as well as working on your execution.

Vega is getting better:
-Try to only use the rolling ball when you are close to your opponent, or you can link into it. cr.lp/s.lp/cr.lk/s.lk/cr.mk should all link into it.

C-Ken:
-Learn the hcf+lk move, it is an important part of his pressure game.

General:
-When an opponent whiffs a move, specifically an air move like an uppercut, try to punish with a super or special move as they fall to the ground:
A-groove Activation, Sakura Uppercut, Ken Uppercut, Vega rolling ball, Vega somersault flip, Vega lvl2 flip super into hk flip, Joe Tigerknee, Joe lvl2 hurricane super into hk flip kick, Guile flashkick

-In C-groove, learning when to empty jump and when to add an attack is important. C is the only one with Air Block, so jump block can be really important, especially for characters like Guile.

hmm, I told him about those combos… maybe the extra cr.lp is coming from a counter hit.

lol where are sakura combos to punish sagat whiffed uppercut…u guys should watch some more bas vids haha

oh and a reminder…u know what’s an rc right? use them for vega…lol. another thing…do u know how to use supers? i see u keep stacking ur lv 3 and not doing anything with it…lol

edit: lv2 supers can be cancelled into a special move for extra damage

sagats genocide super, that super is pretty much taboo to use man your sakura sounds like you do the dp motion too fast slow down a bit. for joe do s.rh, hcf.rh for whiff punishs and you need some more c.short, c.short, dp.k combos.

ahh that would explain why the sho sho sho ends up being sho sho cr. hp sho sho cr. hp.

why is sagats genocide taboo? Do you mean it’s overpowered or it’s unsafe to use?

I keep stacking supers because I want to hit confirm them but I keep messing up the input so I rather just not use it at all. That’s why I like A groove because I’m better at knowing when to use them. Getting the moves off afterward are a different story.

These are some vids of me in the last tourny I was in. Judge please, and be as cruel as you want.

EDIT: Haha. Sorry, I’m the N-groover.

EDIT: Next time please tell us which player you are, I had to look through all three to figure it out.

The only thing I notice is that you seem to have some trouble getting in with Iori, and dealing with random jump-ins and jumping bean style tactics. Your game looks good to me, just looks like you are having trouble against a newb playing style.

Heh, sorry. Edited.

General: be careful with random rolls/run/jump-ins/etc (it felt like you’re desperately trying to get in). There were several situations where you pretty much gave the other guy a free combo due to misuse of those things.
Work on your midrange game & footsies (which will prevent you from desperately trying to get in and getting punished for it).
Work on your anti-air game, there were too many unpunished jump-ins.
I don’t know if you were nervous or you didn’t know about it but there were several occasions where you got an opening and didn’t take advantage of it (crouched Ken Funky Kick, crouch blocked Sakura HK Hurricane Kick, etc).
You’re in N, try to incorporate low jumps in your game (Iori’s lj.HK, Chun’s lj.LK, Chun’s *cross-up *lj.LK, Hibiki’s lj.MP, etc), learn the ranges, learn to mix-up with empty low jumps, etc.

You’re good with combos, which is great, but you need to work on set-ups (again, having a solid defense and solid footsies will help you with that).

Iori: Learn to zone with c.MP, far s.HK & RC Rekka Kens. When you have a solid midrange game getting in becomes easier. IMO Iori should be outzoning Ken, not the other way around.

Chun Li: besides working on AAs, better use of c.LP, c.MP & far s.MP will help you.

Hibiki: use lj.MP instead of regular jump-ins. Against Ken, if you’re about half screen away and Ken throws a Hadoken at you, you can knock him down for free w/ qcf+HP (it goes under shotos Fireballs even without RC). Use RC Running Slashes to get out of tight situations.

Haha. Yeah, I was retardedly nervous. This is only the second serious tourny I’ve entered, and there were some REALLY good players watching…Under normal circumstances I use Hibiki’s and Chun’s low jumps really well (at least I think I do) but I dunno. I missed a lot of Chun super opportunities and Iori BnBs as well. And I see what you mean about seeming desperate too.

Match vids of recent CvS2 singles tourney at this thread:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=135406

it sucks since you can’t combo into it where it will do more damage then a combo into hotfoot super. and its totally unsafe on block

that looks like team buktooth when he plays chun 0_o. your last match you should of been dead, your opponent didn’t know he could punish your Hibiki’s BnB since you were doing it at the fastest speed possible. be carefull next time and remember these supers can get you if you do it too fast (some get you still if you do it at the slowest possible)

Oh, I know about him being able to punish me. I just knew he didn’t know about it. Haha.

Oh, and I only picked up Chun about…A month prior to this. The scary thing is before that, Morrigan was my user. Everyone at my arcade calls me the Buk wannabe =]

I swear to God it’s just coincidence.

EDIT: I put up more vids on my page. There’s one in particular though I would like to see checked out…

I’m not in this one. Still, advice is nice. For them.

The most blatant thing he’s doing wrong is jumping around for no reason. He should work on his ground game more, and pay more attention to building meter. Then he can start using his jumps more effectively because the opponent is not expecting them (although honestly, the other guy didn’t do too much about it). the first half of the first round should have been spent with footsies and meter building. it seemed weird to have the guy jumping all over the place…

lol it’s like they are doing a dance or something

after 30 secs I stopped watching. those 2 players are extremely random they play each other as if they were fighting CPU lvl 1.

EDIT: rob can sure kick me in the face -_-

only allowed to jump once? So if I’m playing against Ryu and he’s spamming fireballs I can only jump over and punish one of them and then i can only JD/Roll/Block the rest? henry, if you’re gonna offer advice, don’t be a fucking moron about it.

Whoever was playing in that video: learn all the basics. Poking, footsies, anti airing (there was so much that could’ve been anti aired in that video that wasn’t it made my head spin), hit confirms, etc. I’d say keep making vids as you learn basics, so long as each video shows SOME sort of improvement. Just get tips along the way.

Thatll help a lot.

totally forgot about fireballs when i was posting that. forget what i posted :looney::looney:
