CvS2 Videos Thread

the rolento thing was done to me by iyo, and when it happened, me and buk were going crazy like little school girls. But Buk was more girly.

Have you guys seen the a-cho footage? I think i read somewhere it was tourney play.

lol @ buk comment. haha funny shit.

yeah. those were good matches! Bas took the whole damn thing. so much bas, loved it.

haha Fucking Buk, I can picture him now. to the rolento part especially before the CC.
Do you know anything about a rolento glitch with the kick throw? I froze the machine a while ago but it might of been something not related to the game.

Kim, your Rolento is very good. Mind helping me get better at anti-airing with him some more?

-s.MP
-jump straight up LP
-RC scouter fierce forwards
-RC scouter fierce backwards
-RC scouter jab forwards
-RC scouter jab backwards

Those are all the anti-air moves I have to work with right? What are the pros and cons of each? Why might I want to use one over the other? CvS2 book has a picture of Rolento doing far s.HK as well, but I have no clue what it says since I can’t read. One of my friends says to use far s.HP (that stick slap) to counter low jumps. Buk also told me to qcb+LP as my anti-air every now and then to get better position since it goes under all high attacks with no RC needed.

I go for a tripwire super as I get up a lot as well. Either a level 1 or a level 2. If the opponent was jumping at me as I was getting up, I get lucky sometimes, his jump attack or cross-up attempt passes through my super flash, and he lands on the wire unable to block.

I do the Shiro trick of qcb+K off the wall, then hold forward, j.MP to the other side of the screen. It’s not really anti-air, but it keeps the opponent from jumping since I’m so high up and spinning the stick.

Rolento vs Sakura:
Is there ever a reason to use anything other than RC scouter fierce as anti-air? I’ve been testing and it seems like when you use this move like a DP (late and on reaction against a jump), it cleanly beats everything Sakura can throw at you from the air.

s.MP works, but I need to do it early as possible against everything, and when I’m too close to Sakura, her j.HK still beats me clean regardless. Is s.MP ever worth doing against Sakura?

Rolento vs Blanka:
I hate jumping Blanka so much. It’s as if I can’t anti-air him at all. I get hit by a counter hit jump in HK everytime I play and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I can never get RC fierce to work against him. Should I start using RC jab exclusively against him? Also, forwards or backwards?

I can’t anti-air Vega or Mai either and it’s frustrating. Vega jump straight up and come down with a kick as I get up. What am I suppose to do against that? Block it and alpha counter is the only thing I can think of. Sagat also gets in on me sometimes and I don’t know how he’s doing it. I think Rolento beats Sagat since my far s.MP is so good against him. Sagat presses his j.HK early or whatever he’s doing though, and I get beat clean by random jump in attacks when I try to anti-air with s.MP sometimes. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Against Sakura doing divekicks, I do rolento RC scouter jump, then roundhouse. I dont have to worry about sakura airthrowing me since she doesnt have one. Rc scouter jump then fierce is good also, but because of its hitbox, it will miss sometimes depending on when you do it and when the opponent is jumping. That is why it misses blanka alot. his jump is fast and its higher then rolentos. so in this case i advise on using rc scouter jump then down+forward kick. Its good damage, and might be safe if airblocked. It requires a bit more technical skill though.

Fun Fact: Even though its hard, if an opponent is jumping at you and airblocking, if you do rc scouter jump then strong, afterwards you might land before him, sooo…this is where you do trip wire super, and they cant block it, since they already blocked in the air. Know about it. (ive done it only once…)

-Kim

haha, i did that on accident to my friend once. thx for the aa tips, rolento would be so much better with a dp…

I think the pogo bounce counts as sort of an air special move. You know how Ryu can cancel j.LP, j.LK, and vertical j.HK into air Hurricane Kick but none of his other jumping normals can be canceled? I think that’s how Rolento works too, except he only gets to cancel j.LP into air special moves (and his only air special move is that pogo bounce). I’m pretty sure everyone knows this by now, but A-Rolento can cancel any air move into pogo bounce during CC. It’s not surprising cuz Ryu can cancel any jumping attack into air Hurricane Kick during CC too.

That vid was pretty entertaining. I liked the C-Blanka vid too. Thanks for trying to introduce some new stuff into the world of CvS2.

With C-Sagat, can you do crazyasskim crossup lvl2 tiger genocide into lvl2 high fb into tiger knee? It would be kinda cool if the lvl2 fb missed the last hit and didn’t knock down so you got both hits of Tiger Knee. If you manage to knock the guy back into the last hit of the lvl2 fb, it would juggle too. But there’s a pretty slim chance any of this would work the way i imagine. (Too many moving parts, so to speak.)

lvl2 cancel into lvl 2?

probrably talking about infinite bar in training mode for testing.

Yeah, why not? For the record, there’s nothing inherently wrong with EX-Groove combos either. It’s just that most of the EX-Groove combo videos were made by people who didn’t understand the system well enough to come up with something interesting. Instead they only do stupid boring shit like chain combo -> special move -> lvl2 -> special move -> lvl1 over and over and over. I think there’s some entertaining stuff you could do with EX-Groove and with infinite meter, but you have to be extra creative to make your audience look over the fact that you’re cheating.

Kim vs Iyo now up on the videos page. To sort of contribute to weepel’s free jump in thread, I think Maki’s jump strong is a free jump in, in this video, but I haven’t tested it. Yea!

-Kim

great vid, great pix.

Awesome! That’s a boss Rolento Iyo has. Kim does the alpha counter, but doesn’t capitalize by staying on top of Iyo. He uses the frames he gets to do something to get out of the corner, then it looks like he used RC scouter to get away even more instead. Iyo IMMEDIATELY chases after him with his own scouter attack (RC scouter jump short of all moves?). Kim’s forced to airblock and his guard bar is dangerously low now. Iyo does his own alpha counter against Kim trying to use RC scouter back j.HK, close s.MK (guard crush), close s.HP xx super. :bgrin:

Maki j.MK, (Sagat airblocks), Maki lands first, s.LP Sagat out of the air, close s.LP (blocked), crouch for like a full second, level 3 grab super. Looks like it worked because Maki was abusing her walk up frame advantage moves so much. s.LP, s.MP chain, walk up s.LP etc…

The jump in setup that Maki did was close s.HP xx Maki punch combo, then normal jump forward j.MP. I’m going to start doing that.

Thanks again for the vids, Kim. I’m enjoying them very much. :karate:

edit: I tested the Maki jump-in against Sagat after close s.HP xx qcf+HP. I could get the air d+MP move to hit as a free jump-in. I could not get regular j.MP to work consistently though. Some random one-frame window, Iyo only tactic I bet.

Buk was right about forcing the other guy to block something as he lands from a jump as well. It’s perfect anti-air when you can’t hit the guy out of the air because he might be too far away or something. There’s nothing the opponent can do other than block as he lands (granted he didn’t take out his own tripguard by using an air attack first). Iyo does Maki s.LP, s.MP, s.LP xx run, stop, throw attempt. Kim jumps away with Sagat, and Maki sweeps Sagat as he lands. I can’t tell for sure at all, but Kim might of tried to dp or super as landed, and Iyo timed his Maki sweep perfectly so that Kim got punished for not just blocking as he landed.

I’m going to always input my Sagat supers as qcb, d, db+MP from now on. That way I can still go for stuff like jump back, land, super and not get swept by people who know they get free meaty attacks on me whenever I’m landing from a jump. Option select low block/super.

iyo is crazy. how he makes that team work so well is beyond me.

wow you nerd

Back up in this. Just put up a Ino video from Evolution 2003. The only thing crazier then the black scan lines is the thing Ino does at the end.

-Kim

What the hell did he do? I cant fuckin with them black lines. If i am catching this right. He only had 1 stock, and he broke that stalk to scare the opponent but went for a random tiger uppercut. i cant tell whats going on. There is a blinding light were they are playing

he broke stock and did an uppercut… i can’t tell if navarro’s hibiki jumped away or not

he broke stock and did the gutsiest uppercut ever recorded in history. o_O
