Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

Sagat easily.

I agree with gridman. When Akuma isn’t the battery, and even sometimes when he is, your are really looking for your Raging Demon openings. That means he needs meter, which isn’t guaranteed to an anchor.

definitely sagat. akuma’s a wild card. he’s either dealing a boat load of damage, or he’s taking all of it in the face.

Yeah, I see what you guys mean. It’s also nice to have the extra security of R2 Sagat at the end. Thanks again guys.

Grooves and characters

Hi. I recently bought CvS2 a couple weeks ago, and am still trying to explore each of the grooves and see what each offers (or doesn’t). I’m debating which groove should be my primary groove. I’ve thought about A, but I don’t feel that I’m consistent enough with CC’s. So maybe C, N, or K? For whatever reason, I can’t seem to utilize P Groove very well. Not to mention that my parrying in CvS2 is very sloppy. Not sure why. Maybe the timing of it is stricter than 3S?

I might be leaning more towards N or K Groove, but I’m not sure. For N, maybe Hibiki, Ken R2, Sagat. K Blanka or Yamazaki, Ken, Sagat R2. C Kyo or Ryo, Ken R2, Sagat. Those teams I’ve been considering.

And depending on the groove, which abilities are worth practicing and which aren’t worth doing? I’d appreciate the help. Thx.

first, don’t use p-groove unless you intend to practice parrying A LOT. the timing for parrying is A LOT more strict than third strike. i’ve been trying to practice p-groove, and i’ve been having a hard time with it.

C, N, or K are all great grooves to learn. C is default, easy to use, and powerful when used to its potential. N is the groove i use most because the run and roll combination is a great offensive weapon. K is really nice too, with the just defends.

for your first team, i’d put the R2 on sagat. he’s just got so much range and damaging crap that the R2 will make him even more of a powerhouse than he usually is. as for your other teams, they look pretty solid, but again, R2 on sagat. don’t put it on ken unless you want to be retarded like me.

Yeah, I figured that parrying was a lot stricter. When I was using P-Groove against some friends yesterday, I only had a couple parries for the whole match.

As for R2 on Sagat, you make a good point. I only had R2 on Ken, because my first character is my set-up character, while Ken is the mauler if you will to wear down my opp, then Sagat finishes the job. Maybe I’m way off, but that’s the way I approached it. Again though, that is a good point, and I’ll start doing that.

Thx for the help.

here i am, back with another team suggestion.

c-groove: yun, akuma, blanka (R2).

does that sound good?

No.

Unless you’re REALLY good with Yun AND Akuma…like EdMa Yun and John Choi Akuma…

They take buttloads of damage, Yun doesn’t deal damage for shit, and both of them rely on a lot of tricks to get damage. Blanka’s good, of course, but as an R2 anchor you’ve got to be really good with him, too, 'cause his comeback potential isn’t as great as someone like Sagat or Chun in C.

How is A-Rolento/Blanka/R2-Bison?

I can’t PTF all that well, nor can I RC as much.

hm, okay, i see what you’re saying. is there any videos of ed ma’s yun?

i like it. anyone else with me?

^^ I think the tendency is to put Blanka at the end when Sakura isn’t in the middle. Blanka is more balanced, even though Bison does more damage in his CC.

Don’t play that team until you can ptf and RC consistently. Trust me. I went down the same path as you, and got so frustrated I almost quit them game, now I just scrub out and play K which I’m totally enjoying and kicking ass.

p.s. Thanks Buktooth for the ghetto Kyo tutorial, helped my Kyo alot. Also did you make the tut for Combofiend? Isn’t that CF’s new team?

Don’t forget Akuma LVL2 cancels which are quite damaging since you can setup them from any Hurricane.

When you have fullbar don’t always try to demon “at all costs”. I ve seen many people getting raped because they kept focusing on landing demon.
Instead use your opponent “demon fear” at your advantage.
Whiff some lp like if you were inputting demon then counter what they do etc…

Work your setups, but never forget your LVL2 cancels… NEVER AHAHAHA!
Not to mention that Akuma builds meter extra fast…

=)

I think if you’re solid enough with Bison he’s a really good anchor to hold a lead with. For making a comeback I’d put my money on Blanka though since I think he’s probably better at attacking without meter. I’d say practice RC’ing, put Blanka last and keep Bison on hold while you play A-Mai.

If you can’t RC or PTF maybe you should try team button masher: A-Haohmaru, Mai, R2 Ken.

What ghetto tutorial for Kyo Miz, where is it :O?

Also, I play K-Mai (someone talked about her earlier in the thread), she’s hella, HELLA underrated, and can handle against K groove’s biggest pain in the ass characters (A- Vega and A- Sak, hell she practically outright counters Sak).

Hey, so I mess around with a new team every month or so, but I really lke the new team I’m running:

C-Yama/Kyo/Rugal

I’m just wondering who is better to put the R2 on.

Yama is basically my battery, he doesn’t need the meter to do damage, but the ocassional lvl 2 air grab cancel is good.
Kyo has 2 nice lvl 2 cancels, and has a good ground game.
Rugal has 1 good lvl 2 cancel, but it is more difficult to combo into. I used him in N groove before and really love his lvl 1 kick super.

So for now I’m running Kyo as user because of the better lvl 2 opportunities, and Rugal as anchor with the easy lvl 1 kick super. Thoughts.

And NO, I’m not putting Sagat, Cammy, or Blanka on this team. I’m just interested in who should get the anchor spot.

Rugal as anchor. Probably best as Kyo then Yamazaki, but depending on matchups and your srengths with the characters you can switch them. Definitely Rugal as anchor, though…his damage/comeback potential is incredible, and since the other two are batteries in both positions, your Rugal should always have a legitimate shot at taking the match.

Chibi, I’ve picked up Mai, she is pretty dope…at least in K.
