I’m glad everyone glossed over the best ways to use Vega - cuz that frees me up to dispense the “sub-optimal” advice ^^
For a non-battery, anchor-type role, I’d use Vega in K groove (low jump pressure/mixup, extra rage damage and JD is all good).
Buuut, Vega basically rocks in any groove. So if you are building a team around an R2 Vega, go ahead and pick your fav groove, or the groove that suits the other chars in your team.
R2 Vega is not l33t setup, but you can still grind out a victory against other top tier anchors. (poke poke poke)
I though Bision is always better than Hibiki… cos Bision can always counter Hibiki qcf mp/lp (with cut kick/super) even getting hit in combo…
I don’t see work not well in any groove except in C & A which he always need to play turtle to store meters…
His low jump work better than Vega cos he can cross up into combo with all kicks where Vega can not.
bison countering hibikis slash has nothing to do with him being better than hibiki as a multi groove character.
bison in any other grooves aint too good.
no other CC does as much as his and no other character can combo into their CCs as many ways as bison. because his jump ins can be seen a mile away, its extremely easy to anti air him, but opponents will think twice if he has meter since he can use his CC activation drop thru. also since he is a charge character with a fast walking speed, he loses his charge for his supers if he wants to walk.
i think kim is one of the better multi-groove characters. also, to a lesser extent, maybe sakura too, but too bad her damage output is lacking outside of A groove.
Bison is still annoying as fuck no matter what groove you put him in especially if he has RC
also how many characters are considered “best” 5? 10? 15? 20? because hibiki def isnt one of them unless your talking about something like top 15 is considered best
Gaedom the first team is better but its really up to you they are both good also you can put him anywhere on the team most people put him in the front
I know that…he keeps saying one of the best I wanna know how many one of the best are there becuase im pretty sure there at atleast 10 better than hibiki overall
bison can be annoying, sure. but GOOD? no way. how is bison gonna do any sort of damage in other grooves? in agroove he can rack up the nickel and dime hits because the other guy doesn’t want you to build up a full meter for free. it doesnt work the same in the other grooves. besides, how many non-agroove bisons do you see doing decent on a national level?
hibiki is one of the best A, P, N and K characters. i dont see how that doesn’t qualify as a mulit-groove character
I’m curious to get some feedback on team formations. I’ve been working on build a team for a while and am having real trouble with finding a team that is both comfortable and can win.
I’ve been using: C-Vega/Guile/Blanka, but after going to a small tourney I found I had real trouble doing enough damage with Vega/Guile and was mostly going just on the strength of Blanka.
I’ve re-throught the team and am trying C-Sagat/Kyo/Blanka. It feels like a stronger team over all, and I really like Sagat up front (partly cuz I’m still learning him, and partly cuz I think he is someone that doesn’t usually show up in the front spot).
Basically I’m looking for feedback and suggestions. I really like both Vega and Guile, but have trouble nailling someone down with Vega, and my Guile is almost useless except for the Level-2 Cancel.
I’ve played a bunch of different characters over the past year, and am willing to try out almost anyone. I really like: Vega, Guile, Blanka, Honda, Rock, Iori, and Kyo. I also like Rolento, though he might be too hard for me to use.
From what I’ve seen, not personal experience, Hibiki is a much better multi-groove character than Iori, Rock, or Geese.
Of these Rock has probably the most groove choices, but Geese and Iori don’t seem as strong outside of their core grooves (K and N). I know that Iori can be played in C, but the other grooves really seem lost on him. Geese can be played in C, N, and maybe A, but again not as strong.
Hibiki has the level 3->Level 1 in N, can do well with small jump and rage in K, and is usable in both C and A. I can’t say for P.
rai and pinokio (among MANY other k-hibiki players) both have won recent really large tourneys with k-hibiki. when i was in japan i won a tournament and placed in most of them with n-hibiki. p-groove nobody noteworthy plays, but the strengths of p-hibiki should be evident. now about that bison…
chun is only good in cgroove and ngroove
ryu is only good in cgroove and ngroove
vega is only good in cgroove and agroove
If you can play them all, you’re set! It’s nice to have a 4th man. Being able to switch anchors is handy in tournaments.
There’s nothing wrong with you’re current team. It sounds like you’re approaching Vega incorrectly. In the battery spot, C-Vega’s NOT a rushdown char. IMO, he’s 10% safe attacks, 90% defensive twitch.
Guile is not right-away good. You have to keep at it with an open mind. Honda might be a good switch for you here if you need results faster.
Hey, your Vega comment I don’t get. I understand how A-Vega is in a class of it’s own (battery + practical damage w/meter), but how does C-Vega get the nod over other metered grooves like P and N? C-Vega seems to perfom on the same level as P and N for battery purposes.
