i’m new to this game and don’t really know where to start for a team.
so far, i like sakura and ken. what is a good third party character? also, what order and groove would best suit this team? i’m not very familiar with the grooves either, could you possibly explain a little on the pro’s and con’s, please? i’ve played the game many many times but haven’t quite grasped the basics. i can RC and i can do some medeocore combos. i guess i can blame mvc2 and 3s being too damn popular over here for me not being able to learn from others. :wgrin:
Here… I think the groove asking is in some other thread, but since I’m bored and have nothing to do I’ll break it down.
C- Level 2 special cancels, delayed get-up, air blocking, dash, roll (Probally most basic groove)
A-Custom Combo, that one thing where you get up right away after knock down, Only level one supers, dashing, roll
P-Only level 3 super, Parrying (3s), Is this a delayed get up groove or fast get up?, In XB or NGC, move cancelling like 3s, Low jumping
S-Charge your shitty bar up, Critcal mode (KoF94-96, 97-98 Basic bar) Dodging, delay get-up, Run, low-jumping
N-Level one stock, level 3 popping, Roll, Run, low-jumping, fast get-up
K-Just Defend (Garou, and SS right?) Run, Low Jump, fast get-up, if your anger bar pops you have level 3 for about…15-20 seconds? (I’ve never really counted)
I think I’m missing, there’s gotta be more to the grooves)
Now Sakura and Ken are pretty much good in A. Sakura has the every set up to Shoshosho, decent Anti-Air (she’s like Ken of 3S, everyone knows how to counter her)
Ken, braindead CC, easy BnB, can RC his funky kick.
Pretty much, the third character can be up to you, your playing the game, we can only give advice, my recommendations are Bison, Blanka, Hibki(She really complicated), Pretty much anyone, you can throw out that’s not high tier in A groove, get good at their CC, and put them first, then Ken, then Sak. If they’re high tier like Blanka or Bison, you can throw them at first, move Sak to first, then Ken in middle, but don’t restrict what you want to play by this long ass post, it’s only a recommendation.
i’m thinking of picking up C-Kim. I think hes definitely one of the best C groove characters in the game, even without the infinite. good rcs, great supers, extremely good roll, pretty good normals and a good dash.
however, i have trouble doing his c.lk, c.lk, standing lk into astro glide super. the command for that super is pretty wierd compared to hibikis or ioris rush supers. most of the time, the split kicks comes out instead. also, i have yet be able to do c.mk xx astro glide.
does anyone here know an easy way to combo into it? comboing into iori and hibikis rush super are much much easier than his.
i’m still pondering who to use in C groove as an R2. so far, the candidates are rolento, kim, yamazaki and sagat.
rolento is fun, especially as a second, but him being last is a struggle, especially vs K groove or blanka as noted by ohayo123456789. one of the reasons why i feel a groove is better than c rolento is because of k groove.
i would use kim last if only i can combo into the super well.
yamazaki sucks vs sagat, vega, mai and rolento, but fortunately hardly anyone uses mai, vega last.
and sagat, i dont feel comfortable using him vs other sagats and few other r2 characters. i’ll prolly place him 1st or 2nd, because hes simply sagat.
I’ve NEVER EVER have done Kim’s combo into dash super, it is just too stupidly hard to do.
But if you can the combo into dash super, then I’d use him as R2, Kim is too underrated, people think he’s only good because of inf.
c-kim is not a good anchor. I’ll give reasons later if you need them.

i can do c.lk, c.lk, lk into super, but not consistently enough.
i still cant do just standing lk into super or c.mk into super.
Hi all. I am really fond of this game, and just beginner in RC (i ve figured well how to RC Charge recently-yeah i am so proud!

My team is basically C- Groove
Guile- Ryu/Akuma or Rugal (i like to use rugal against tall characters) - Sagat R2
I have big problems fighting blankas 
if they pick blanka switch out your rugal for blanka, j/k. :razz:
Oh, wait now that I think of it, Kim isn’t KoF Kim, haha nevermind, Kim fucked in CvS2…
Oh and Rugal is SOL with Blanka, well, in my opinion… And Akuma just sucks in C, play him only in N, maybe C. He’s a monster meter builder.
Since i like to play c groove for juggles combos, i like to play akuma because he has some powerfull and funny combos.
I am not pro fighter as you guys so I play characters i like before playing with most effective one’s. Otherwise i would have picked blanka in my team ages ago for example
C-Akuma is good. Only problem is him taking damage…so just don’t get hit.
Dude, I can’t explain it in words, 'cause I’m not sure how I do it myself. All I know is that holding down short so you don’t get the negative edged cresent kick is important. Same goes for low forward into super, just hold down forward to stop the neg edge. It might be easier for you to do low short, low jab, low forward xx super.
…and Kim does NOT suck in CVS2.
BTW, i can help leezy out here. i actually sat down in training mode the other day and figured out how to combo into kims super without getting crescent kick:
you do c.short c.short, qcb(wait a little bit) short, hcf+any kick.
its eitehr that, or roll the qcb slower.
Edit: Yeah my bad, laugh told me you have to roll the qcb slower, and do the hcf motion fast. yup, there it is. go practice it now, KIDS… … ok that was cheesy.
…and yeah, Akuma doesn’t suck in C Groove…And people dont just pick kim cuz of his infinite…
I guess I’m the only one who doesnt have the problem with Kim where you get the crescent kick? I just hold down the short and do qcb to qcf and hit roundhouse with my pinky
I wish cvs2 kim was like NGBC kim
Oh… I just haven’t seen any succesful C-Akumas…probally that why, I like him with run better =/
