Don’t know why he’d stop, she owns.
Well, she could use some killer CC’s like Sak I suppose. Her’s deal a lot of damage but the reset options are more like 1 trick ponies. Nothing like Hibiki’s.
It’s not like our scrub killer Athena, though she’s good in her own right vs people without a clue, Nako owns up a lot of people since her pressure is strong and it seems they’re not used to it anymore since CvS1 due to dumbing her down a little and the change in ratio system in this game.
A lot of characters used generally are horribly slow in comparison.
K-Groove/P-Groove give some people a way out of her pressure strings (since they’re all 1-hit moves), as does forward moving RC’s but she is so damn fast you do something, they react, and you react to their reaction (unless parried, depending).
Add to this that once you corner the opponent they become that much easier to see what they’re going to do since you’ve limited their options already.
Her pitiful damage adds up over time in my experience, but then again most folks are used to rushing weak characters, not getting rushed by them.
Seems the smart way to beat her though would be to slowly edge your way forward throwing out moves fast enough to tag her whether they hop onto the bird or stayed put.
RC’ing the slide isn’t in wise unless used as a risk punisher
RC’reflector is ok I guess. Moves forward, -5. Like a Kyo 1 hit lp rekka.
Push her into the corner.
me. I was using that for a while at tournies in CF. Throw R2 ken in the middle. Once i did 2/1/1 against smooth because he was using K sagat/geese/hibiki R2 in that order. I figured that since my ken did fine the first match against his sagat that i’d try it again. I hit him with a few RC kicks through his s.fierces but i missed one and raged sagat comboed into super on me:sad: . Got to his last character, who was hibiki, but R1 kim vs R2 hibiki is a pretty bad matchup so i ended up losing. From experience i think 1/2/1 isn’t all that bad. You just gotta be really focused and have your first character build some meter. For example something like A-sak/blankaR2/bison seems pretty plausible.
That’s what i do also. My first character will sometimes vary but my team would be random character/R2ken/chun. The first character gets meter. Ken uses it. After it’s gone he’ll get it back from RC kicks and whiffed c.strongs, and chun is there for that one c.mp
Yeah, my friend’s friend I played used K-Nakoruru (r-2), Cammy, Rock. She usually poked you to death and annoyed you with rush downs with Nako, my head bursted, until it popped my K-meter and she ate Raging Storm.
Okay, since early I posted about like not able to play other people, I’ve thought about really learning my A-groove team, Yuri, Mai, Hibiki. How can I practice these girls, but I only have DC and GC version. Problem is DC= no Arcade Stick, GC=Arcade Stick. Help?
if i ever drop my current team, this is what i’d play.
heres my theories.
vega: play like a groove vega + a small jump. the small jump is super fast, and you can go for high/low mixups just like the “jump straight up” vega tactic. also low jump empty and throw.
sagat: by now vega should leave you at 2 or more stocks. go crazy i guess. play like k sagat with a roll?
blanka: more low jump insanity + roll cancels.
I need somebody new for my K team. Ive been using Geese/Blanka/Sagat R2 for the most part and subbing yama, guile, and vega for geese in there everynow and then but i always get criticized for using guile in supposedly one of his worst grooves and using vega (a charge character) in K.
Anyways, Im open to suggestions since my geese isnt that strong because I just cant seem to get the hang of his game plan. Im so used to playing passive agressive with blanka and my own weird kind of style with sagat. Anyways, like I said, I’m open to suggestions to any character. I dont particularly like cammy that much since shes so straightforward and rolento seems like he requires a lot but what do i know. Throw some suggestions my way <3
gridman, ever seen Guile vs. RC Sakura? It’s not pretty. C-groove gives Guile the option of smacking her back after those RC hurricanes but you gotta capitalize on the knockdown/safe fall. Actually, I’m not sure how Guile even approaches Sakura when she’s knocked down. For starters, yeah, you wanna throw a meaty sonic boom, but…I dunno it just seems limited.
K-Guile has even less options. Sure, you could JD the hurricane kick but you’re not exactly discouraging her from mixing it up at point blank range. Can sakura smack you out of your small jump easily? I dunno, never tested that, never played against too many small jump Guiles. If she can, it’s a sure sign that having Guile on your K-Team will be a definitive weakness.
Your original K-team sounds fine, though I understand that you want to switch out Geese since you don’t want to play Cammy either (too straightforward or something, a pattern I’ve seen in both characters)
K-cammy is so good, though, and you’ve seen a lot of testimonies for her. It’s like using C-groove without using Sagat; the main reason I still use C-groove in my tourney team is cuz C-Sagat is so good. Myself and others can give you some good reasons to choose certain characters in certain grooves but if you’re looking for fun then you don’t need to ask us, random select is all you need. K-groove, eh? Have you tried K-Balrog? That brrraaooowww super is great
But yeah Cammy is great cuz while she does have the option of playing some cute tricks and mixing it up a bit, she doesn’t rely on it the way RC Yun does. You can also get some great results if you use Cammy like Bust-A-Move. Jiggle a bit, point your RH at the right angle, score some points…
Yeah I understand guile isnt and really shouldnt be played in K but its just my main groove and I picked him up so yeah. I have trouble with consistently roll cancelling too so that isnt any good.
K-Rog was originally part of my old K team (vega/rog/blanka) but he just has so many bad matchups that I see now and it can make it hard to win with him. Sometimes he gets thrown in my team but very rarely.
Balrog(boxer) sucks bad. Period. It’s kinda like A-groove Kyosuke. Haha, I made myself laugh. I’d put Cammy in my K team instead of going solo with Geese, but heck it’s fun messing with a R4 Geese K-groove. But yeah, I really need help with my A team.
Cammy’s so straightforward though. Even if she is a beast. I racked up like 10 wins tonight with CBS. I hate playing cammy just because theres nothing to her. I dont know who I should go for anymore. Maybe Rugal or Rolento (ill have to learn him somehow i guess)
ok this thread is pretty much dead. So ill start this shit up again. What do u guys think of my new team A-sakura, hibiki, Blanka r2. feel free to discuss, personally i think my team is pretty cool, but could use more life oh well. insights people insights!!!
That’s not a new team…but I guess you meant it’s new to you.
You have to play really well with the two girls to be successful with that team. Either that, or just own everyone up with Blanka, 'cause that’s what A-Blanka does. The girls take more damage, and have hard matchups against some of the top tiers. Plus, everyone knows how to fight Sakura now, so most people are dropping her. Hibiki isn’t as common, and her mixup customs are ridiculous…if you can pull them off.
It’s just as u say, my team can’t take hits. And yes most of my matches have blanka trying to mount comebacks, not a good position to be in. Also, when i find that sakura or hibiki have bad match-ups i just replace either of em with ken. guess that should be my main team.
I wouldn’t place Hibiki first.
Some may, but there’s a strong chance she’ll be facing her worst matchups there, and she’ll want to have meter to deal with them. As a user she can nigh handle everyone that can actually deal with her, or even shut her down, like user C-Chun.
As a user she could handle even the likes of user/anchor Bison.
I don’t really like Sak, and I’ve watched run-a-way sorts of batteries score easy time outs on her cute butt consistently like. Ken could deal with those characters, but for the same reasons Hibiki should be user applies.
Fortunately you can get away with this by RC’ing Ken’s funky kick, a lot.
If you can do that, peachy…
Ken’s got some bad ass customs.
I’ve never seen A-Ken before other then that one rh. kick thingy…
But how would K-Athena, Hibiki, Geese R2 fair? I tried it out with the guys at school and worked, but what am I saying the guys at school suck, they couldn’t even get past A-Yuri… and I taunted 2 times, 4 times in another match… And let’s not even talk about the K-Blanka, Cammy, Sagat match I had and pwned the guy with S-RyoR4…
A-Ken rocks dude what are u talking about. Oh yea i guess those guys at your school do really suck. i mean if they are getting OVC’d by yuri then they seriously need to stop wasting their money. And WTF S-RyoR4 :wtf:
^Yea i was thinking the same thing. I dont know why he isn’t used more often by the big names though. I mean he has everything C-ken has plus a one button Ground CC that does 8k damage. I guess Ken’s cc is so easy that most players get embarassed to use it? All i know is that when CSULB scrubs decide to play A groove Ken is usually the anchor. coughRock Voltacough
