Cvs2 team formation: discussion/suggestions, etc

Here’s a few tricks…

N-Kyo2 - put him as anchor, use RC upkicks against Sagat when you know he’s done rolling, use one of his many options once you are in, don’t bother with RC super

Iori - make him a battery as his supers are lacking, or look for opportunities to counter roll if you feel he must be a user. counter roll is better than super. Works best against people who are automatic with their guard crush strings (like sagat c.mk xx low tiger). Another example is Guile c.mp xx sonic boom. Another one is Sak RC RH Hurricane, or normal xx any of her specials. You want to counter roll before a special comes out.

Ryu - Try not to die. Turtle up when opponent is being offensive, rushdown when the opponent is turtling. Use low forward against Sakura. Emulate some 2k2 strategies by watching outdated movies…or use someone else…

These should satiate you for a while, hope it helps

alhazard: learn to punish blanka balls with running sweeps… not sure about ryu but kyo/iori can do it easily.

R2 a honda to beasty!

Kyo is the hotness, along w/ hibiki, Geese, Mai, Cammy.(thats the group i use…)

What About k-Riot Iori, Akuma, Sagat(2)

good luck finding O.Iori at the arcade.

True, but I just use Iori in those situations.
I just prefer Orochi.:wgrin:

I wanted to post a new thread on this, but it probably belongs in here, so.

I can’t decide on which groove to pick for TS6. N was fun but I can’t compete with it, so I’m left to decide between P and C groove. I can do more damage in C with level 2 cancels, but my defense isn’t good without the use of low jumps and the threat of parry. In C groove I can RC decently, but I only use it in a small portion of my gameplay. here are my teams

C

Kyo
Yun
Chun

I dont RC with Kyo really. Its Yun that I use RC with (mainly his RC grab). I cant RC lightning legs yet with Chun, but I can land her level 2 cancel reliably.

P

Kyo
Hibiki
Chun

Self explanatory. Kyo usually tears it up in P, just a matter if the other 2 can do their jobs. I also have a gimmick team of Athena, Yuri, and Mai. All gimmicks.

Help. :frowning:

get with the times, learn to rc. it’s not that hard. that c team seems a heck of a lot better than your p team. p-chun as your anchor isn’t a good look…switch her for cammy…but then again p-hibiki isn’t so hot either…

learn to rc elec nub

Caution: Learning to RC may cause you to lose all your friends.

stop losing to my A grade a-blanka :looney: :looney: :arazz:

You need to RC if you are going to play C kyo, or else he really loses alot of mobility with that slow dash and no run or low jump or parry or JD. Practice RC of jab and medium rekka and hit confirming it into finishing the rekkas, you can put the fear in people, which will allow you to actually walk or dash in occasionally without getting punched in the face. If you space it out right it is very rare that someone will punish a rc rekka. Yun is a decent character with rc punch, grab, and palm…although i just dont like having to land like 6 combos to kill somebody so thats why I dont play the guy.

Your P team is solid, they all have parry -> long range poke -> super so thats what makes a good P character haha. If you can actually parry under pressure then you might wanna go with that, although youll need to run from a sakura like a bitch unless you play that match 6 million times to practice it lol.

So I dropped C-groove for A-groove.

Between Rolento and M.Bison, who would make a better R2 anchor for A-groove? Im very comfortable using both characters. Just cant decide who would do better against the top tiers.

0_o!!

Bison

Hey all, I’ve been playing this casually since it came out on PS2, and I want to start playing more competitive.

The team I’m thinking about sticking with is K- Kyo/Geese/Rock

I know all are listed as good characters for K, but do you think they mesh together well?

Also, which of the three makes the best R2?

Well, K - Groove teams don’t exactly have to mesh together well because there’s no team capabilities in K compared to other grooves (meter carry over, etc.)

In K, the characters just have to use the meter to the best possibility. Which is basically good small jump attacks, guard crush, mixups, damaging supers, etc.

Geese would make the best R2.

Don’t forget you don’t want your K-Team hurtin so far as matchups go.

Your team is going to hate blanka but other than that it’s pretty good. I use almost that same team except I stick Sagat where your Rock is.

I’m relatively new to CvS2, but here’s a rundown of my two current teams:

A-Groove: R2 Sakura, Mai, Kim
K-Groove: R2 Rock, Yuri, Terry

Is there any way I could improve my choices without picking Sagat or Blanka? I just don’t like using them at all.
