CvS2: KCXJ teaches Blanka (newbie/intermediate level)

I’m done with posting in this thread now. All other Blanka strats, all you guys will have to figure out on your own (it’s part of the process to go from a newbie to a good player, or an average to an expert player). Develop your own style. I’ve provided more than enough tools for any CvS2 player to work with (with some help from Kinko Savage of course…). The only word I’ll leave you guys with is, in high-level play, C-Blanka —> the best Blanka. Don’t ask me why I say that. Figure it out on your own as a player and you’ll all be beasts in no time.

cuz he is the ultimate turtle, thas why. RC electricty n anything u feel like RC’ing. the hardest groove to guard break. he can sit on his level three.

i always thought blanka owned the yama fight…blankas slide is way to good against yama…and rc some hops or balls will get you out of the 50/50 super position…

Yamazaki can kick you in the face afterwards if you go too crazy with the slides (if he blocks obviously). If you try to abuse them from max range, he can predict when you do them and j.HK you too. Since Yamacrappy’s jump in is so low, you won’t have time to recover before you get kicked. In general, I hardly ever abuse the blanka slide unless it’s to punish a whiffed move… Run up, run stop, opponent gets faked and sticks something out, you punish with slide etc…

When I fight AGAINST Blanka, it’s always the first move I’m looking for (and hoping) the opponent will try too. You could pretty much say against any character, I’m always conservative with the slides (I do it on purpose too… haha, trying to get out of my old scrubby habits).

vs. claw vega tips?

can blanka punish vega’s blocked roll with ANYthing? is the only option to counter-roll/attack?

This match is hard. Don’t worry about the Vega claw roll. If Vega RC’s it as you’re getting up, there’s not really much you can do anyway (Blanka’s AC is one of the worst in the game btw). I like to RC hop in this match-up a lot (like RC hop after blocking the claw roll when Vega does d.MP at that), because two or three blocked electricities will knock off Vega’s mask and claw like nothing. A lot of Vega’s will like to attack you LOW. They’ll do repeated d.MK, throw out the Vega slide when they’re at a certain distance. Make what you can do with that. That’s all I’m going to elaborate about it (your d.LK stuffs the slide, but your low jump HK or MK into electricity makes them hurt).

Watch for repeated patterns (Vega will also do stuff like jumpin HK, then jump straight up HK again, d.MK, d.MP, then walk back slide or jiggle etc…). Rush him down with d.LK’s and s.LP’s and hit your d.HP when you think Vega will throw out out a short poke. Be conservative with the slides obviously, as Vega gets a free d.MP everytime. Chipping with electricity is the most important thing for Blanka to do in this match-up. Be prepared for A-groove, and most important of all, do not get frustrated. Again this match is difficult, but if you stay patient and play smart (knowing when to attack and not to get baited etc…) you’ll win in the end.

ok, I lied when I said I was done posting in this thread.

edit: I just realize all I should of posted was…

vs. Vega
Once you get in, it’s easy. It’s getting in that’s the hard part.

What’re good or any setups for RC electricity?

Any knockdown is a good setup.

-sweep, forward hop, RC
-slide, forward hop, RC

Here, I’ll let you in on my little C-groove mixup too (on Ryu sized characters).

-Punch grab, dash forward, then either dash forward again OR command hop forward, RC

If you do dash, dash you’ll end up in front. If you do dash, command hop, you’ll cross up the fallen body to attack from the back instead.

Extra: This won’t happen very often, but if you get a knockdown that leaves you right over your opponent at point blank range (lucky sweep, slide, or throw), here’s a random super setup I use. Sit and whiff a few moves while they’re still on the ground. When they get up and try a wake-up move that’s when you can command hop back (invincible at beginning remember) and counter with d.MP (best range) xx level 3. I seem to be the only one who uses that move from what I’ve seen so far :bluu:. So maybe somebody else out there can give it a try too.

yes you are the only one that uses c.mp LOL…ill give that shit a try though…

Does anyone have a better all purpose custom than the one on Gunter’s site? That doesn’t work all the time, and I think if you’re able to use the electricity some how, wouldn’t that boost the damage a lot?

Doesnt work all the time???Why am I not surprised…

-B.

anyone got any tactics for Blanka(N) vs chunli?

her jumping mk is too good =o and that I can’t stop her rush down

gawd, better than gunter’s…
here’s one:
ummmm, lemme see, slide, late s.FP, jab ball(wiff), elec, jump feirce…super. 8000.

blanka customs are best done with jumping attacks anyway.

Dr. B:

(reading over your elite Yamazaki thread for the first time) Ur t00 good… please “penetrate my anus with your penis*”

*not gay

Your elite strategy of rolling into a level two befounds me. Please show me the proper method to do it so that I may start owning left and right too. Also, from what I hear, Chang’s throw mixups are too damn good.

Keep her out. I’m guessing you mean the j.LK instead. Don’t ever let her cross you up period. Roll or RC ball out of there whenever you she jumps over you instead. Watch out for Chun-li low jump double HP too. It’s one of her better methods of getting in on big characters. RC her out of the air to make her afraid to try anything like that anymore.

Just block her rushdown jabs if she tries them. After like three, she’s pushed back far enough so you can hit her if she tries s.mp xx fb or something. Anticipate when she’ll low jump LK too. Blocking too many of those is what makes players lose patience against her in the first place.

Please refer back to one of my earlier posts for further info.

I play blanka in K grove. This makes it hard for me to land my supers (cant sit on them). I usually wind up using my rage to do as much gaurd/poke damage as I can (unless some dumbass tries to rush me down when i have a level3 … well its not my funeral).
Anyways. I need a good way to combo in to my level 3. I have seen a very close in crouching fierce comboed into the lightning ball but i cant manage to pull it off myself. Is there some special voodoo joystick methodology to it or am I just too scrubby? Also are there any other super setups that are feasable in K groove?

c.fierce XX L3 electric ball should combo all the time unless you’re like hitting Dhalsim’s limbs.

Easiest way for me is to charge db, c.fierce, fwd bk fwd+ jab/strong.

Please refer to my first post on how to combo into Blanka super. There’s no trick to it. Just hit s.HP or d.MP then do a super really fast. Those two attacks are best because they won’t cancel into anything other than a super. With d.HP you have to be at point blank range, but there’s no point using that since s.HP does more damage.

With c.LK, s.LP, and c.MK you will need to practice. The best way to combo from those is to hold the button down. All voodoo tricks on button pressing and joystick movements I have explained to the best of my ability already. Just go back, read, and practice and you’ll be all set. (I listed a crapload of set-ups already too… whatever works in N also works in K obviously)

I’m asking all the newbies to please read through the entire thread before asking a question too. It’s only three pages. I’ve spent a lot of time putting all this stuff together and most likely your question has been answered already :).

wtf 6 moves for 8000 dmg, thats what i’m talking bout, gunter cc’s are nice, but ghetto cc’s are better. This sounds too good to be true tho i’m gonna try lol.

You guys should check out CB’s ultimate Sagat CC…
