a good yama makes people fear him even when theyre blocking, what i mean is repeated use of the throw super and his headbutt throw, even lvl 1 throw super does good damage and using the throw after they block a couple close range jabs will have them pissing their pants…
yamas jump mp is a good jump-in and one of his most successful roll tactice is a roll right into a throw super, most ppl dont see this coming… of course dont get predictable… even tho this is good i still believe too much rolling is the easiest way to lose

you may not have roll but you still have run,small j,and the father
of all blocks JD…this groove is unbeatable when played right…
yamas pretty much good in any groove, you just need to know how to use him n each one,
he can be deadly in p-groove, you just need to be able to keep people at a distance really well, you cant let them get close unless you are a parrying master, cuz therwise theyll trap you real fast
in n-groove hes really useful cuz you get the run and the roll, plus you can power his ass up to do even more damage
in a-groove… well ive yet to see a good yama in a-groove, all i could really think about doing with him is jump in with mk, then power up, then combo into some knifes till you hit the corner and then sweep ducking fierce into guilltine lvl 1… ive never tried this and id be interesting in hearing about anyones experience with a-groove yama
c-groove, yama can roll, cancel out of lvl2’s rc knifes and just kick ass, ppl consider c a scrub groove, but well timed roll and rcing can decide the match
k-groove he powers up and becomes even more pissed off, plus he gets lvl 3 very fast and he gets a run
bottom line hes pretty good in every groove cept s, well im not gonna go into s cuz i know jack shit about it and im not gonna pretend like i do

Yama actually has a decent mid-screen combo if you can time it right (I’m experimenting with one that needs less timing but does less damage, need a DC to test it, though).
I don’t use his custom much though, because whenever I use Yamazaki in A-Groove he’s the starter and battery. I use the meter for grabs, usually.
S-Yama is fucking tight. Dodge into grab or super, unlimited grabs on red life, dodge attacks are pretty damn good too.
S Yama is pretty crazy… i play him in k groove and n groove mostly tho… n groove because it has everything u need to succeed, low jump, roll, pretty fast lvl1 build up, run… i like him in k groove just because of JD

My b 'n b Agroove combo with him is:
[s.FP, FP knife (only first hit)] x 6 (approx), QCFx2/ HCBx2 and P to finish
The timing is critical b/c if you don’t cancel the knife slash fast enough, the opponent has time to block. I’ve gotten 6000+ off on fully combos with the super finish. W/o the super I pull off 4000 easily. Even if the opponent blocks the combo you can mix it up with a roll -> The Drill if they’re caught offguard, or an explosive headbutt.
