well i’ve been experimenting with k groove maki, yama/sagat, geese…
after throwing yama in the match a few times i figured out that yama isn’t well suited for k groove. both of his supers are extra hard to connect when playing k groove… i really think he needs a roll /dodge to set-up the drill, because no ones dumb enough to jump at you when u’re in rage…
anyone kno any advantages yama has in k groove or any strats in connecting his drill super? whiffing jumpins doesn’t work very often

Exactly. What you lack with not having a stored level 3, you gain with JD combo set ups, more AA options, and a damage output that is absolutely insane. Enraged Yamazaki is scary. They mess up, they’re level 3’d. So many good things about a K Yama.
hmmm… well, i’ve been proven wrong… i guess my k yama needs work… for now tho… it’s k sagat. Yama is still my anchor in N groove

I was wondering if someone can help me out with this? I play yama in K-groove. Lately, I have problems setting up supers with him. The only time I ever hit the super is if my opp. blatantly jumps at me or i nail the j.short correctly and he cant jump out of the hcb x2 super. I also try to run after my opp. and force my opp. to block the s.fierce then go into the unblock able super. Does anyone have other super setups for yama? Anyone know the range on the hcb x2 super? Also what is the distance when you j.short to keep the opp. in block stun, where he can’t jump out of hcb x2 super?
mind games with yama come from the fact that your opponent doesn’t know whether he should jump away in order to not get super thrown, because if he jumps you can just swipe him out of the air with the air super. So, here’s my recommendation. Don’t play K-Yama cause he needs to sit on supers IMO. P-Yama, C-Yama or N-Yama is much better. So then you can play your regular game, and do stuff like j. forward, command throw, or j. forward, LVL1 super. Now, the mind games come into play. Jump in with early forward, and block. If they jump do air super. If they just stand there, do whatever (command throw, throw super, normal throw, hit them).

if you know how to jd really good you dont really have to relly
on connecting the supers reason one.
yama is meant to be played as a rush down charactor…
soo you need to run not dash wtf dash suck ass…
besides youre P meter takes fore ever to build up.
and perry is hard but JD is way easier to do and you build up
youre meter/life…
now for the supers since you will be rushing down youre opponent he’s guard will eventually break soo then execute

yama is NOT made to be a rushdown character. he’s made to be a turtler. all his moves are made to keep you out. even his supers are defensive. He CAN play offensively, but i would say with 90%+ certainty that he was made to be defensive/turtle.

i think with k yama u need to pay close attention to staying in range with your opponent. just in range of serpant slash. playing him in k groove will also require lots of JD as well… and being close to the opponent will pressure him into throwing out normals to try to push u back… soo JD and counter.

I dunno i’ve talked to several ppl who know what they’re talking about such as Viscant for one, and they seem to think he is one of the best turtlers in the game.
