Balrog is an awesome character,i use him more as a rushdown character and i use him A and K groove. One thing u must know is C.LP links with his C.MP which is pretty good for rushing, running to your opponent and poking him is awesome,he has so much range he literally whoopes turtlers (IMO). In K groove just defending is the key to a win,after any just defending u can land almost any pokes,which makes u a rusher,but it avoids u from getting rushed.
Also in A groove u probably have noticed but i think balrog has the best roll of the game,i suggest u abuse of it, and to those who are whining about him not getting the best combos since ur opponent has to be standing, go to namonaki.com and check his anti-air A-Groove,pretty nice and damaging,its almost like the other ones,just starts as an anti-air, his dash is pretty ok,i prefer the run for balrog but thats my opinion anyway.
Could u elaborate more on the fact that he would get whooped by small female characters??? Never heard of it,never had a problem with small female characters,is it because his A-Groove can t be done well against them or something???
OK…any REASONABLE person playing a charged lvl 3 Rog in K isn’t gonna be stupid enough to stay on the offense, how many lvl 3s you will get and you will LAND are a different concept altogether. Superassrider’s concept to play a K-Rog is a lot more accurate and a workable strategy, but c.LP doesn’t link to c.MP outside of counter hits.
Rog doesn’t have the best roll, but it’s one of the best (best is like Iori). IMO, you can do his ground custom off a tripguard loss situation (since I think people who get nailed by tripguard loss customs are standing up), you would do that by -> Activate, c.MK, s.RH x2, s.FP, FP Rush, RH Rush xN, super.
Balrog does poorly against smaller characters because they dodge his most important weaopn: s.Fierce. You can’t use your low rushes anymore outside of throw setups too, since they’re easily punishable in general and if you’re playing against Cammy or something, you’ll get hit by her s.Fierce xx lvl 3. You would rely more on throwing, jump-ins to simple combos, and counter-hits on more of your damage.
Big, topicless threads like this make it hard to find information (especially when they grow to > 10 or 20 pages in length). Please try to create threads with more focused subjects (e.g. Balrog’s TAP, Good uses for the l.rush punch, setups for P-Groove, etc).
