Cutting braiding

I have my cables sorted for my custom stick, I just want them nice and tidy in wire braiding now. I go to use my hot and it’s knackered (seems to only be going luke warm). Does anyone use any other methods for cleanly cutting braiding, as well as cuts that create holes for the wires?

I use a propane torch on an old knife, then use the hot knife to cut the sleeving. In a pinch you can use scissors while using your fingers to compress the sleeve…then carefully singe the end with a lighter. Keyword being carefully

I may get out my propane torch, however I tried the basics with a lighter and it just resulted in the braid shrinking in odd places
