Yo, i used to do that all the time, except, on a helicoptor.

You should, considering they are what fuels the products you purchase. Their purchase decisions affect you.

Kryonik: Notice that two year gap between second impact and third strike? :sunglasses:

also, how long was third strike out before the next SF? How about MVC2?

Notice how the best games have long life spans? Because they evolved and we put time into them. Maybe its because we “had to” but the evidence is clearly there that developed games are better than quickie 1 year gaps.

I know you hate to talk about BRAWL but that game itself has seen loads of progression over the past few years. You don’t need smash knowlege to look up that tier list and see the games progression. It’s insane how that tier list has done numerous flips and turns. I bet we would see that with AE as well if people put time into it instead of writing it off because “2012” is out in like 3 to 4 months.

Its this new bullshit “short attention span” crap that everyone has nowadays. No one wants to think or do anything anymore. People just want answers handed to them on a platter and want games easier and shit. Ex-mvc3. people only enjoy it because they are good at, not because its a good/better game.

I dont have a link but I think I read it on eventhubs in one of their weekly updates.

But AE is shit and I’m glad its being patched so fast because Capcom knows the game is shit. I’m cool with Ulitmate because they added Strange and Doom looks even more godlike. I can’t complain with these patches because honestly with how fast everything moves now unless there’s good DLC games can get boring really fast now a days.

I remember back during the SFII days, we got SFII on the snes for 60 bucks, then a year and a half later was turbo edition for another 60 bucks, then a year later was Super for another 60 bucks. There was no option to update the game via DLC. My point being I don’t really think that Capcom has ever let the Street Fighter franchise just sit and evolve on it’s own. The only exception is in between 3rd Strike and Vanilla where the franchise was practically dead. I respect you as a player DJ, you are extremely good, but I feel like your argument is way off base on this one. Capcom is giving people exactly what they are asking for, and that is their job as a game company. No one is forcing you to buy it, if I didn’t want to pay for all the upgrades from Vanilla through AE I wouldn’t have. I still pop in my Vanilla every once in a while and have no problem finding matches. I understand that you feel that the games now run almost on auto pilot, but for me the fun is in finding how to break that routine so I am doing what other players don’t expect. My whole point here is that it is perfectly fine that you feel that the games are not worth your time and money. Most of us on this board, myself included, are die hard SF and Marvel fanboys that are going to buy the games and play them because we DO enjoy them. I’ll be the first to admit that AE is a broken mess. That doesn’t stop me from playing the shit out of it because I have fun doing it.

Alright I got some time at work before I leave, Don’t Jump, chew on this information as much as possible.

XMen Children of the Atom: 1994
Marvel Super Heroes: 10/24/1995
Street Fighter Alpha: 6/27/1995
Street Fighter Alpha 2: 3/6/1996
X-Men vs Street Fighter: 10/4/1996
Street Fighter 3: 2/4/1997
Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter: 6/18/1997
Street Fighter 3 2nd Impact: 10/30/1997
Marvel vs Capcom: 1/29/1998
Street Fighter Alpha 3: 6/29/1998
Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike: 5/12/1999
Marvel vs Capcom 2: 2000 (around May)
Capcom vs Snk: 9/6/2000 (on DC)
Capcom vs Snk 2: 8/2001

I’m sure I’m missing some but even this non-exhaustive list has 14 different games in 7 years, give or take. This has been Capcom’s M.O. since the beginning of time and I can go further back if you want me to (you don’t.) So please, stop this nonsense.

im banning myself from this thread until further notice

Don’t Jump the only reason Third Strike and MvC2 were played for 10 years is because they were considered the best of the fighting games that were released at the time but also because fighting games died out in popularity among gamers meaning that since the sales weren’t there Capcom wasn’t going to keep shoving fighting games down peoples throats. The same thing will happen again, Capcom is just going to keep pumping them out until it finally dies down again which I don’t blame them for doing.

Capcom lost the license to make Marvel games so that was an obvious deterent to a future vs. title. And Third Strike did not do well commercially and arcades were on the down turn during that time. Those games had long lives by accident, not by design.

Capcom is not the only company (Namco with Tekken 5 and 6) that does this nor is this the first time they have done such a thing. We are on a website devoted to a series that had more iterations of its 2 title than some single properties have actual sequels.

I disagree with the short life, but to not expect another iteration to be made within a year of initial release is naive. What is the real difference between November and February, what magical things would have been found that would have shaken up the Phoenix, Wolverine, Wesker, Magneto, Ammy, Dante tier listing?

We live in a different time, people aren’t alone in an arcade finding a set up with no one but their 3 friends around to see it. We have streams where people see strategy first hand, we have years of experience of finding glitches and exploits that makes it easier to find them in newer games, we have thousands of players conversing and divulging information to one another. It does not take years to figure these games out any more.

Sorry for the double post but its also funny to note that fighting games fizzled out after such a boon. We could be heading for another one of those. I think that should be the real worry on peoples minds. Trends come and go, and as much as the #FGC has grown since vanilla took over the world whose to say that this could just be the peak and the valley is fast coming.

There was a ten year gap between MvC2 / 3S and MvC3 / SFIV due to the loss of the marvel license, the commercial flop of 3S, and the death of arcades combined into a trifecta of doom for a sequel for either game. Would you dive money into a new SF game so soon when your last project flopped? No you wouldn’t.

Capcom bided it’s time, waited for home consoles to become the norm in a majority of households in America / Japan. (I’d say that started around the PS2 / Xbox era, where most households started having home consoles).

And Don’t Jump, read this quote really, REALLY carefully:

I hope that was enlightening.

Funsy tournament on October 9th people AE+3s who is down

Im still sticking to my argument that games with long life spans are better than games with shorter life spans…

notice the gap between the difference of GOOD titles. MVC1, MVC2, CVS2, and Third Strike.

They were all at least two years between each title. Regardless, I’m just going to throw this in there:

LEFTMan, the glory days really are dead.[/LEFT]

Mvc 1 and 2 had only about a year gap. And both games had retarded broken shit in both. No game has ever been perfect. There’s shit wrong with every game. Look at me, I am one of only a few people that pushes for MK. I know there’s things wrong with it. I still enjoy it. And I’m glad NRS sends the patches out to fix issues and to rebalance. There never was a glory days for fighting games. There never will be. It will always be people finding things about the game to expose thing or show how broken they are.
Sadness X infinite = 8==D

im allergic to dumb gamers, newbies dont know how to recognize brokeness to exploit it. its obviously when a newbie says a new broken game is better than another. “I hate mvc3, mvc2 is better, no wait, 3rd strike.” sound like a fucking female complaining about every lil thing, maybe video games ARENT YOUR FORTE.

i really dont care what anyone says about my post, I’m tired of retarded people bitching on a damn forum when they make half ass sense. theres atleast one person for each game that will give you something to complain about.

quit the bitch assness or kill yourself

I still own you with Kenshi

Liquid-Try this on: You’re a newbie gamer because you think new games are good. Period. End of discussion/topic.

There is a fine line between finding the positive aspects of something that may not be top quality and seeing the strong points to something

and then recognizing when something is awful and is a piece of crap.

Example- SF4/SSF4/3S/ST and then looking at AE

Can people at least try to ignore him? I mean, I know it’s hard but let’s just try.

I’m down.
