So I played my first set of player matches on 3SOE yesterday, connections ranged from “pretty good” to “eat a 40% combo and never see the first hit due to frame skipping.” But this is way better than AE and lightyears ahead of that horrendous MvC3 netcode. I went 79-3, lol, but they were player matches against obvious n00bs. Here’s hoping they actually do fix Ranked matches this week as promised.

Anyone else find it hilarious that the SOUND EFFECTS actually play before a rollback? In one match I heard KO yelled out about 4 times.

Anyone planning on getting some 3S player match lobbies going this week, since Ranked is currently so f’ed up?

OH, and MvC3 is retardedly easy to play at high levels since all you need to do is learn your character/team’s 100% combo, then find a way to land the first hit (like using an abusive Haggar/Tron assist). AE, not so much; takes way more patience and actual gameplay instead of just getting one hit. But compared to 3S? Neither of those games are nearly as hard to play and learn at a competitive level, and you need way more precise execution to parry/hit confirm than the very lax inputs and crazy no risk/high reward scenarios in the current games.

But its the EXACT same thing on your end too. Heres the giant kicker though: At high levels, Third Strike is HARD. It’s not easy to parry shit at high levels because they are constantly doing different things and mixing you up. They are not being predictable.

The games not about “okay, always use this normal because its amazing and beats out everything!” It’s about so many elements into one game. Pokes, mixs ups, timing parries differently for EACH move to STOP pressure (AE lacks this) You can be Fei Long in Ae and just keep doing rekkas alllllll day. I KNOW its coming but have to sit there and eat it on block. Third Strike lets you STOP ANYTHING and at the same time the offense is so good in the game as well. It’s a fantastic balance.

I will 100% agree with you that the game is random and it has some scrubby elements…because it definitely does but the difference between 3S, and AE/MVC3 is this shit is NOT easy to win matches in against a good player. Good players rape the shit out of scrubs in 3S and the skill level is beyond obvious but in MVC3 or AE? It all looks like the same shit no matter what level of play it is. Thats why I hate new fighting games…its so fucking accessible and catered toward casual players. Pad players dominating tournaments? 8 year olds getting top 48 at Evo? ABC combos? Trash. I AM A PAD PLAYER and i think that is hilarious.

MVC3 and AE are casual games. Period.

I actually agree with a lot of this. Im not gonna point out what i do and dont agree with, to avoid a followup essay.

gotten plently of those KO! sounds then it sets back like it never happened and i’ll play 3rd strike OE if anybody sets up the lobby need to learn more stuff for Q and how to parry well

And yes, UI so gdlk. 2 days with no power even though 100 yards away a ton of houses have power…
