CT Thread | Weekly Thursdays 7pm Fire & Dice Games Milford CT

Mayu thats a tournament set for that day, currently at the venue that I am using saturdays would not be good

What’s up, everyone? I came to the SRK forums hoping to find a community in CT to meet up and play with regularly. Right now, I play only with 2 friends… we are amateurs but I really want to work at my skills with more people, and I know I’ll meet much higher level players to train with :p.

I’ve only recently gotten so into fighting games. I started watching videos on youtube of high level play of pretty much everything (3rd Strike, MvC, SSF4, KoF, etc.). Soon I got to recognizing big names in the community and seeing advanced strategies at work and now I need more!

My main concern is, where do people in CT get to play? Smiles seems like a lost cause… and now that Chinatown Fair is over with I feel like there’s nowhere to go

SO, I know there are CT players here, can anyone help this lost soul?

^ Where are you from exactly? lol. what part of CT?

Hopefully you do not want to play this game:

I quit. No joke. This game is dumb.

kenst4r right now there are a couple of scattered meet ups around the state. I am trying to organize that can hopefully become a weekly staple in stratford at a venue that is right off the highway

cool, Bacardi. I’ll keep following this thread for updates.

Dont Jump: i’m in the new haven area, from hamden.

No shit? I work in Hamden.

Kenst4r, you should come out to Gaming Etc. soon and meet everyone. I just did it myself, last week, and was glad for it. Plus, it’s not even a 35 minute drive. (I’m in Bethany.)

kryonik, where do you work? and archer, i’ll definitely check that out, how often do you guys meet?

OMG The twins scare me and I don’t want to try to win /sarcasm

I’ve been hesitant to drive an hour down there because it seems like I would be playing nothing but little kids at a birthday party or something, is that accurate? It seems like they’ve got a lot of good games.

There’s nothing there. They have some machines, mostly broken down. They have a SF4 machine, but it sucks. On the other hand, there are a whole bunch of us in that area. Come out sometime for some offline matches.

I live in New Haven. What do you play?

The security in this hotel is all a joke. They were going around to peoples rooms and kicking people out of the hotel if there was any slight amount of noise coming from the room and if there was more than 4 people in a room. This hotel is a joke.

Sent from my Atrix

You do? My parents house is in North Haven…

Kenst4r-From your username it sounds like you play ST??? (is hoping) PM me man. We should play some stuff. I’ll play whatever. I’m always down to meet new people. I’m available tomorrow if you have free time.

EDIT: Spamming aerial roundhouse with cyclops is awesome. Learning about mvc2 is so fun.

mg131 and TommyTwoTime77 - Smiles has CvS2 (which i absolutely love btw) MvC2 and Tekken 6. They took out guilty gear and sf4… pretty crappy place now.

The Realyst and Dont Jump - i own ssf4, mvc2 and 3, KoF 98UM and 2002UM, sf: 3rd strike, tekken 6, and a broken copy of blazblue :(.

my friends and I would definitely love to meet up and play with all you guys. I know for a fact you’d all beat our asses haha but learning from you would be great. It seems like i’ll be checking out Gaming Etc. soon. And TommyTwoTime, where in that area do you meet up?

All my fighting game dreams are finally coming true

Not even mad, but

I should use the ignore user feature
-Bacardi ninja edit

Usually at a friend’s house

I’m usually down for casuals at my place too anytime

I’ll PM you my number

@Kenst4r: I know that Gaming Etc usually runs casuals on Fridays. I assumed that wasn’t happening this week because of ECT. Bacardi has started running local tournaments out there on weekends, too. Check in here for more information. Rumor has it that a ranbat season is in the works, given enough interest.

As to getting bodied: that’s the only way to improve. It can be frustrating at first if you’re ultra-competitive, but if you take the approach of a student learning a subject that you thoroughly enjoy then you’ll have a blast – at least in my experience. I don’t think I killed a single character in MvC3 or AE last week, but I still count the day as a win.

Randomly, I was wondering if anyone in here plays AH3 or is interested in playing it. The visual style turns a lot of player off, but I think the system in incredibly deep and interesting. I have a DLC copy. Let me know and maybe I’ll lug it out for casuals one week.

Casuals on Fridays in Hartford, there’s usually AH3, he has retail copy/setup. There’s a few decent players there.
