I was there, but I was lurking in the shadows. Nah I was just at the ST room working on running the brackets and the stream.
nevermind
Sorry about that man, if I had known you were there, I would have said hello at least lol.
Np bro it started getting crazy in there with us running our tourney and the mk guys running theres
I really want to see the MK II stuff. Such a great game. I didn’t even know people still played that. I used to be good at that game. I still remember all the fatalities, pits, etc.
You’re remembering the game through rose-colored glasses. High level MK play is the lamest thing you will ever see.
For a game that was made in 1993 I’d say its pretty deep for its time. Obviously it wasn’t as good as SF II as a competitive game but it wasn’t even intended to be competitive at all.
MK II was THE GAME that DEFINED violence in video games up until GTA III on the PS2 basically.
I’ll deeply beat you with two buttons in that game…
s.rk groundpound lets go.
Games then have plenty of depth… MK2 has tech but the game itself is VERY LAME. TMNT Tournament Fighters didn’t have a problem with depth. I still find new things everytime I play that game.
Also SMASH TV DEFINED VIOLENCE THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
SMASH TV FOR LIFE!!!
If I didn’t know you were a real person, I’d think you were some sort of advanced AI script, programmed to not make an iota of sense at any point in time.
Sure when you were 8 or 9, MK was probably AWESOME. I know I loved it. But, in it’s current state now, it is a boring mess. You say it wasn’t meant to be competitive (which I’m not sure how you can even know) but if you wanted to see it at WB, that’s what you would see: competitive play.
As for “defining violence” in video games, first off that isn’t even right. There were a lot of super violent games before MK was even conceptualized. Splatterhouse comes to mind right away. Second off, who the hell cares? That’s completely irrelevant to anything I said.
/Corrected.
I did nothing but make a mockery of myself at Winter Brawl . Coincidentally, I played against two mediocre players: One mained Boxer, one mained Dictator.
Who are the mains of the two people I play SSFIV with the most?
Guaranteed you won’t get the answer on the first try
Spoiler
Boxer and Dictator… :wonder:
I did manage not getting double P’d on by Justin though. I guess I can take that home with me. Though I’ll admit I had to go to the bathroom afterwards because I thought I pooped a little when the match was over.
crazy 8 / whats your game & fye actually had a really strong mk 2 scene in the bridgeport area.
/corrected. Reason: Relevance.
Kriptik, what time does Project Failure start on Friday? Dru and I are interested but he doesn’t get out of work until 9pm (and we’re about an hour away) so I don’t know if we’d show up too late to be in MvC3.
Which leads me to my next question: anyone else in Southern CT interested in going? If I’m ever going to get good at MvC3 I’m going to have to play as many people as possible. The whopping ONE set of casuals at Winter Brawl, where nobody could take me off, was a good confidence-booster but I’m trying to get over this damn arm pain/hand numbness as a result of my back injury, and I need to get used to it.
Hey DSP 9:30 should be fine worst case scenario is we start tournament before you get there and just hold off your matches. Normally we start SSF4 around 9:30pm though. We might run just SSF4 for a bit and then split up our 6 stations accordingly to how many people entered marvel.
Help spread the word guys. http://shoryuken.com/f7/ct-mar-4th-project-failure-presents-friday-night-blackout-266775/#post10340081 This friday should be wicked hype.
We are there dude
Yeah definitely put Dru and I down for MvC3. Not so sure about SSF4 as I haven’t played it since…the last project failure I went to? lol
Phil, play MvC3 tonight?
Hmm might have to return to the scene, how many tournies and meetups in ct average a month would you guys say?
There’s a tournament in Naugatuck every 3 weeks called Project Failure and there’s one once a month in Middletown called the Miyamoto Cup. There’s also a lot of tournaments in other states like Mass and RI and NY all the time.
LOL Jax. Mileena son. Heck, I’ll even run Shang Tsung and do Sub Zero transform-FFD HK x4-kung lao transform-head slice full screen fatality. So epic. His fatalities are so creative due to the sub zero infinite freeze.
Of course MK II now is a mess. Its dumb. lol. But its still fun and awesome. Not every game in the world needs to be high execution/deep/balanced to be a good/fun game.
Mortal Kombat II was the first game by Nintendo to require an adult to buy the game. Yes, other games had violence but they didnt have as big of an effect on the public as Mortal Kombat II.
Honestly, IMO old games are better than any new game that will ever come out.
