GG’s manny, helped my day 1 Gouken learn the VViper matchup xD.
Saw SKelly for the first time, was so free…I just couldn’t find an opening so my money matches were mostly just me defending for awhile, then trying to find an opening or just desperately throwing a poke out there randomly to try and mount an offense (I couldn’t find any gaps). =[
Hopefully he keeps coming and continues to play us and we ask him questions so that we can be closer to his level. He says interestingly that a lot of players in New York beat him frequently, so that shows what kind of level we’re on.
On the upside I did pretty well against MarlinPie in the tournament, though I lost. =D
I don’t really care about MvC series period, but it’s nice to see such hype for a game (period) again. On that cord, I personally hope the fighting game scene stays away from the Media (Raw vs Commercial argument of where the scene should go). Media just ruins stuff, and I’m not bullshitting like “oh sellout sellout uncool”, it’ll turn the game in directions that we won’t be able to take back or change once it happens. I think there’s a decent following trying to commercialize fighting games cause it’s market-able, but that’ll be the end of the days imo. I am not pretending to be an older school scene player, but I know/seen how it was before I participated, and it was better, than how it is now, but if the scene remains as is, it should be fine, I think.
At any rate when the fuck is AE coming out so we can all stop wasting our time (those who can’t make it to NY at least 3 times a week to train) learning super matchups that are upside down (not looking at the unchanged chars matchups so dont flame me on this plox! bahaha :< )
im so pissed that i missed the tourney couldnt get a ride :crybaby:but ya i have good news for people who r interested. a friend of mine is holding a get together to get a scen for mvc3 goin its at a place in startford this friday and i’ll keep you all posted bout it

Ghostwantstofight-I feel the same about MVC3 for the most part. I think its insanely fun and I really keep trying to look at it as a game I want to get serious with…but X Factor really just destroys that for me. It becomes too random at the end of the match and some of the characters are insanely difficult to accurately react to.
It’s definitely more fun than ssf4…but not as serious and a good a fighter. It’s a big reason as to why I play both. They both have their perks. It also doesn’t help that both of the characters I enjoy playing are horrible. (Ibuki and Dudley)
I may be nitpicking, but to call a character “day 1” is to suggest it’s your first day playing Gouken. I saw you play a lot of Gouken matches at Stryfes… it’s like when you told CP you don’t post on srk.

I was on my way out the door to head up to PF when my roomates girl called me telling me that he got arrested and asked me to bail his ass out. I was like, “sure, no big deal” thinking he was in one of the holding cells at a local police station. I get in the car when she comes by and im like “i need food”, so we grab mcdonalds and while we’re waiting in line at the drive thru she’s like “thank god you came, i dont know NY… how do we get here?” I look at her phone and its a text from Joe asking to be bailed out in BEAR FUCKING MOUNTAIN lol. my face then does this O_o :’( as i realize that I will be watching project failure from my phone while enjoying the comfort of the passenger seat of a jeep liberty… sad I did get to watch the whole tournament though. Good stuff to Dont Jump for winning the whole thing as predicted.
And SORRY TOM, TEKNICLY 2-DAY gouken har har har…I don’t have a 360 (so never time to play cept casuals at tournies) and the at stryfe’s was the only time I played in like 3 months…Rich was teaching me set-ups. after one match of getting kara-thrown and footsied by cp i switched from Goke. I probably touched Gouken before that… a year ago. <_< kty…just sayin

She’s not horrible but she has a lot of bad match ups.
Dudley is a bad character. When you look at his match ups…he really is a horrible character.
Akuma, Vega, Sim, Rose, Ken, Guile, Seth, Chun, Honda, T Hawk, El Fuerte, Gief, Cammy, Rog, Even Hakan, are really bad for him on the top of my head.
I think hes pretty decent against Bison, Sagat, Rog, and Ryu amongst the top solid or better characters but he definitely has a lot of bad match ups. Looking at the character on his own hes really solid and has a lot of options but his defense is balls and that is what SF is all about, creating a good defense and having good pokes and tools to begin your offense. Ibuki is a little different because she has a lot of speed and quick ways to get in without needing to use pokes. She’s not a poking character.
His offense is one of the games best and his overhead is the games fastest, but its hard to get it going against top players when his options to get inside are extremely limited. His overhead range is bad right now too.
-st fierce misses crouching lows and doesn’t come out fast enough
-fmp is incredibly difficult to combo off of on reaction to CH and isn’t that fast. It’s a counter poke.
-cr mk is too slow
-st mp misses on most characters crouching
-cr mp on CH combos to EX mgb but that
He’s pretty decent from outside of mid range due to his HP and F HP and close range but he suffers from mid range. Good pokes just eat him up hard.
He has a lot of problems and its good to see the changes he received for AE. A faster and better ranged overhead and F MK (2 frame faster start up) are crucial. Now he has a more reliable way to get inside and once he is inside it’s much scarier.
yeah cause you should be using an overhead and a short ranged normal to get inside (f.mk). nevermind his retarded focus, st and forward fierce (hey guess what, if it whiffs on them crouching you probably shouldnt use it as much), and smart duckings. i mean fuck dude you cant have everything with a character. his hi/low game is the best in the game and if ibuki gets neckbreaker it can end really fast. they arent the best but certainly calling them low-tier and theory crafting like you consistently do here is part of the reason everyone hates you. how about you play instead of talking so much.
