Sorry I have to pull out at the last second like this, but I run a factory and have to go in because of a problem. Hopefully you all aren’t mad and I can play next time…

Before you guys head out, take a look at the parking directions on the original post, you’ll need to park across the street and walk over. hope to see everyone in a few hours…

Sorry about the power outage there was just so much awesomeness going on at the tournament that the power company couldn’t handle it lol
Well other than the outage I was just hoping if you guys could maybe give me some feedback about how everything was run?were the setups ok? would you be willing to comeback in 3 weeks for another tournament? Just any advice/changes you might want or anything that comes to mind at all definitely share your thoughts.
I’ll come back in three weeks. Lookin’ forward to it.
Its always a pleasure to get beasted by aumni’s viper lol
thanks guys, i’ll make a results post in the results forum and link it back here when i have the whole bracket (this afternoon).
some questions for next time though.
Time - because the actual tournament itself would have finished in under 2 hours, we’re looking to move this to friday night, instead of a saturday, we’d start around 7-8pm on a friday night and play as long as nessecary. if friday nights are reasonable for you, let me know. if theres a reason this wouldnt work, let me know.
Date - two weeks from this weekend is ECT throwdown, i encourage everyone in the new england area that can make it, to head down there. in respect to that, we’ll be shooting to host round two of this tournament on Friday the 28th, This is memorial day weekend, but hopefully enough people will be free on that friday. We’ll expect to start around 7-8. but would love to hear feedback.
**Setups **- I think the feedback i got on the setups was good, so we’ll be using the same rig, we coulda used that 5th tv, but we didnt have enough sticks so there was no point, i’ll see what i can do to make more sticks available.
Money - we had 12 of our 16 (some cancellations, one no-show), it put the pot at 120$ because i rolled the venue fee into the pot (it was $5/$5). i want the tournament to be profitable for everyone envolved, i need feedback. If this tournament was only the normal 5$ it woulda been $60, which is almost not even worth coming out. What do you guys want to do? eventually we’re going to need some venue fee. Do you want to keep the tournament fee at 10$ and then tack a few bucks for venue on top of that? i don’t know what you guys are comfortable putting up, but i want it to be worthwhile for everyone, keep in mind that we will ALWAYS shoot for a full 16 or more. depending on what is available.
Parking - Thanks for understanding, i WILL have better arrangements for next run.
Live Stream - We’re making the moves over the next few weeks to be able to live stream the next session, no guarentees but things look positive.
Let me know what we can do to make this better, thanks for coming out, results to follow.
very fun tourney, the power issue kinda sucked but it was very windy… not you guys fault shit happens…
now my 2 cents on set ups… Why not use the two bigger monitors? They lag? j/w
thanks for a fun time, I would defineatly be back again. I would agree to keeping 10$ entry plus a 5 dollar venue fee to keep it at or around $15-20 dollars.
As far as friday nights, that a real toughon e for me as evenings are tough to get away with 2 babies and all. But if thats the direction this goes, im sure i would find a way to return. Thanks again and nice meeting you all.
We wanted to use as many setups as possible at once for the tournament and we wanted to keep them as similar as possible. I’ve been to a tournament before where I played 2 matches on a 21 inch lcd than on a 32 CRT and it kinda messes with your timing alittle bit playing on different tv’s and we didn’t want to upset anyone with that.
On that note I’ve played on the bigger Samsungs before and felt like they played fine, but I’m not an expert on lag. I know a couple of you messed around with casuals on those TV’s so let me know how you feel about the lag? If everyone would rather play on those 2 TV’s it wouldn’t be a problem at all for us to do that.
We did talk a little about it and kinda thought if the entry fee for the pot was less than 10 bucks people would probably be less motivated to actually come out to it because of the smaller pot. As to how much the venue fee will be, I’m pretty sure it won’t be more than 5 bucks. I’ll let Malelan discuss the money since it is his place and pretty much his equipment. We’re definitely not trying to get rich off this, just trying to build a scene in CT that can hopefully rival the greats and as malelan mentioned STREAMING is in the works
So it would be nice to hear some more opinions about maybe the entry fee/venue fee issue. So we can get a good idea what everyone would be cool with, because we really are just trying to do this for the scene and if no one shows up we have no scene lol
updated first post with results thread
if your too lazy to go to 1st post here you go http://shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=235838&p=8868630
I’m cool with $10 Tourney fee and kicking $5 for the venue.
Alright just posted a thread for the next tournament for Friday the 28th. Everyone that played in this one is automatically re-invited to this tournament. So if you guys can make it please go sign up at the new thread.
