CSULA - The New Student Union Arcade

California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA)

CSULA used to have an arcade called “The Pit.” It was closed a few years ago because the student union that it was located in got torn down for renovations. The Pit provided such games as CvS 1&2, 3s, Hyper Fighting, MvC2 (?), and a few others.

The NEW student union (currently being built in the exact same location), has been confirmed to have another arcade (see quoted email below).

I’m in process of trying to find out who the arcade vendor will be. I’d like to get in contact with the representative for that vendor and put in requests for fighting games.

But before I do that, I’d like to get an idea of how many people will be around when the construction is complete - also what games would you like to see at the new arcade.

The New Union is tentatively scheduled to be completed in January of 2008.

I know it may seem a bit early to be making plans, but I’d like enough time to gather some feedback/suggestions from the players. More importantly, I’d like to build some communication and trust with the Vendor and CSULA’s ASI - in hopes of adding CSULA as another fighting game arcade to hold tournaments.

Email from the Associated Students Inc (ASI):

"I apologize its taken us so long to respond to your question; we were trying to get in touch with the University-Student Union staff for clarification.

Youre in luck! The new Student Union, tentatively scheduled to open in January 2008 will have a 1,700 sq. ft. arcade on the garden level; the same level as the new recreation/weight training room.

If you have any other questions, please feel to email back or you can call ASI."

BY THE FUCKING WAY, I’VE JUST BEEN AWARDED MY BACHELORS DEGREE FROM CSULA

That’s what I was thinking.
Maybe you or Scott can confirm with him?

Did The Pit used to have a small lounge room with a private tv ?
I think I vaguely remember something like that. I think people watched sports, dvds, or played console (?). Or was that somewhere else?

the pit did indeed have a lounge room, only to watch tv i believe. there was another tv around the back area, where you could bust console. not sure how the vendor will feel about that, unless you brought games that the arcade doesn’t have.
