DFist: They were some quick marks with the side of a sorta dry brush. Haha, yeah, the Elena pose is pretty wacky. I tried looking up capoeira pics on google, but it was really hard to find any capoeira poses that wouldn’t come off as “hey, check out my crotch!” So, I kinda settled on this wacky pose and threw her leg over for modesty.

DFist, Yeah I am doing may lines too thick in this challenge. I lost a huge pile of A3 paper when me and my girlfriend moved in together a few months back. But there is no excuse for the Alex pic since it’s all Tablet. Looking forward to seeing how your ALex turns out.

As for the King of Fighters challenge, I know Jack about that game, I never got into it really. Only SNK games I play are Mark of the Wolves and Last Blade 2. Maybe I’ll whip up a Kim or Rugal for it.
Here’s another quick alex I did with a four color pen (I love those things) while waiting for X-Men 3 to start.
good thing you drew that before x-men 3 and not after otherwise it’ll suffer from the dissapointment of the movie haha. Looks pretty fun man. I already did an alex! it’s a few posts up.

I haven’t decided yet what’ll happen with the next challenge. Most everyone seems to have lost intererest in updating the gallery, so I’m not so sure we need one for the next challenge. Maybe it should just be run on here on the forum only.
Not sure what game will be available on the next vote yet. No games that have Street Fighter characters, that’s for sure. I’m ready for something different. Not a KoF game either, since there is already another thread for that. I’d like to draw characters that are different and fun.
Here are some of my thoughts…
Darkstalkers: Very unique characters. Most people are at least somewhat familiar with the series. Decent amount of official art out there.
Marvel Super Heroes or X-Men: CotA: Don’t we all have a Marvel comics fan inside somewhere that wants to draw some superheroes? Instantly recognizable characters.
Guilty Gear: Cool characters, good fanbase.
Project Justice: While the designs are not as crazy as DS or GG, the characters in PJ are a lot of fun.
Garou: For the SNK fans. Some cool characters, but some boring ones too, IMO. However, it is a relatively short roster, so it would be a breeze to make it through.
I don’t think we need to include Tekken, SC, VF, or DoA because judging from the votes last time, those 3D games just don’t stand a chance on a Capcom message board.
I’m reluctant to include smaller niche games like Last Blade and JoJo because only a handful of people are familiar with them, and there isn’t really much art out there for reference. The same could be said for Garou, but Garou got enough votes last time to deserve a second chance.
Again, these are just my thoughts, not decisions of any kind. Let’s all discuss our thoughts and suggestions concerning Round 3.
MSH, it’s an excuse to draw Shuma and Juggernaut. I wouldn’t worry about an SNK one too much. As you see I tried running one concurrently with the 3s one, and the response was blah… even on some SNK sites. :x
Guilty Gear hands down. Theres already a bunch of people on here who like GG who also do fanart such as woof and Tokoyama. Plus, the cast isnt obnoxiously huge so it will only take about as long as the 3S challenge. Also, like you said, theres some awesome character design, which even the official art leaves open to experimentation.
edit: Oh yeah, not to mention the fact that it came in a VERY close second in the last poll.
GGX! Yeah we should vote again since we got newcomers on the art board.
I’d probably just draw a couple of the characters if any other challenge comes up. I’m burnt off fanart for the time being.

I was originally just gonna sketch him monochrome, but I started it with a red pencil underdrawing like I always do, and then i realized that I had a blue and a yellow one on hand too.

You know, you should go back to doing the way you did it originally and just compile everything at the end of everything 10 characters…I don’t think there would be too much work with that, and I’m sure one of us wouldn’t mind helping either.
