Good lighting rook. What I see when I squint my eye is that some highlights are “popping” out from the shadows. Try to keep your values close in shadow work. Here is an example I did in a paint over. It’s pretty much self explainatory.
I see alot of you guys putting the highlight on one side and shadows on the other, which is correct, but there is one thing missing. You’re not letting the highlight side recede which makes the image look flat and gradient like. Think of the form as a cylinder. The part that extends out the most should get the most highlight.
As for environment. Just dressing the set really hits the mood and location. Even though it may look messy it’s better than leaving it in plain block form. Overall impressive work from you guys.
Dan was too awesome and Twelve BSOD’d when he tried to x-copy.
I was going for an SF III version of the Chun-Li vs. Vega fight but this was the result instead. I couldn’t think of anything good so she has underwear similar to Sakura’s.
Doing Yun and Dudders when I can. Incidentally, here’s a Dudley doodle I made back in 2004.
and here’s an alternate version without the inkwash. I’m not sure which I like more. Click
I’m really sorry I haven’t been leaving comments and crits lately. I’ve been very busy doing some freelance storyboarding and working on a comic for Viper Comics. The deadlines creep up so fast! Everyone has been doing awesome work though!
nice dudley rook!. i would color over the black outlines in the light. Also think more of his chest should be in shadow too, with small value changes to show some details.
Nice one Chain. Could widen his body a bit more and make the torso a tad bit longer. Other than that this is top notch.
Dfist. Enlarge the head a little more and this should be good to go.
Great start Rook! Connect the shadow value some on his chest and arms. Desaturate the green and take it down in value. Looking a bit bright. Green is darker in value so the green shadows can go darker than the value of the shirt. The shirts shadow is darker in value than the green so you can go vice versa. Good job. Love his face.
i’m pretty new here, but i wanted to say first off that there are some very very excellent artists on this site. i can’t do
anything beyond very basic cartooning, and it is doodling at best, but here’s a ryu for everyone to laugh at. it was drawn
on the corner of a notecard in class with a pen that kept crapping out (hence the scribbles) and is a little less than an inch tall
That remy is great. I always have trouble with gettin a top down angle and making it still seem powerful. Dudders is looking posh too.
Shen Long: That’s looking really nice man. I hope you give the coloring treatment like you did on Twelve. The only thing I can suggest is to make the jaw a tad Longer.
dude are you on a break or something? haha. coming strong with the entries. You can do all kinds of poses in all kinds of angles with all kinds of lighting. what a stud.
I think remy’s jacket should be skin tight, but that’s just personal taste.
Yes a rainy Sunday isn’t fun. You are right about rems Jacket though. My mistake on that one. Yeah I am sitting at my comp doing the whole cast right now. 9 more to go… need break.
Yeah I gotta learn to do whatever a director tells me to. Lighting, color, angle. Gets tough sometimes.
Whoah SFMC you just came out of nowhere and knock us all off with a 3 hit combo. :looney: Your colourings are always great to see. They make your characters look so warm n pleasant n not overly stylised. Kinda makes my Dudley look cheap heheee…

Nice work so far. The lack of wrinkles/crease on Ibuki’s clothes kinda hurts her overall look. That’s why I like the Dudley more.:bgrin: Nice choice of background colour too… hope to see the finished version soon.
CptMunta
HehehhHEhehe… balding Dan.:bgrin: I like the background effect too.

Welcome aboard the challenge. I’d like to see your take on Twelve in the future.:bgrin:
Keep up the good work guys…
I’ll post up my Sean soon…
