Judge: "State your name and occupation."
Defendant: "Paul Horner, sir. But my friends call me BadAssDwg69. I’m a stude-"
Judge: “GUILTY. GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY.”
lol why am I laughing so hard when he gets busted and I hear “terrorists win” when a fuckton of idiot cops stream into a room trying to out badass each other?
Nah he wont serve anywhere near that time, the charge will be downgraded. I can’t see him doing more than 5 years, won’t be shocked if he is out in less than 2 years.
DDoSing, in a sense, is like any other assembly. It’s like arranging a large protest in front of a business and not (easily) letting anybody in.
Not saying that DDoSing is just, but policies on DDoSing(which are also a pain in the ass to enforce), but if we were to enforce it, it might restrict the right to assembly.
Besides, DDoSing is only bad right now because NTP Amplification attacks are possible. If that would be fixed, it’d be very difficult to created DDoS attack of substantial scale.
There are similar exploits, but for the most part, it’s usually as simple as disabling a single command.
EDIT: The real problem is, let’s say I organize a large-scale DDoS through the use of NTP requests. Clearly, I should be charged, but what about the server operators who neglected to disable the MONLIST command? Are they at fault as well? Clearly, it’s a dumb mistake, but is it worthy of prosecution?
I feel like that is a Goosebumps TV show reference…
Anyway I know my name is pretty god damn horrid. But “BadAssDwg69”? Really? Probably one of those losers that calls a girl “bb” in text messages. I think he might get out on probation after like 20 years.
We need to harvest this judge’s DNA and clone him. Then distribute his copies to every court in America. Man is god damn patriot. We could even give the original a bandana and replace his name card. Instead of “Hon. Digsby” it would be “Big Judge”. Send this man a bottle of scotch and some hookers.
The DerpTrolling hackers did a bunch of this earlier this year, got a bunch of guys including phantoml0rd, then tried it on a British gamer, who didn’t even get a local constable at his door.
When they were doing it you’d get a “warning shot” to shut of your stream in the form of a load of pizzas delivered to your doorstep, as if to say “we know where you live”.
I remember on 4chan a while ago people did something similar to that to this one feminist asian chick who causing a bunch of shit. They sent her 2 pizzas, 5 bags of potato chips, 10 orders of cheesy bread, and 40 cups of marinara sauce. Unfortunately nobody ever saw a reaction to it.
y’know…unlike The Onion or Not Necessarily the News back in the day… that shit wasn’t even funny for a supposed “satirical site”…and they apparently don’t have a disclaimer anywhere? Fuck that place.
It would be fantastic if someone were caught for real and the justice system made a very harsh example out of a stupid little bitch like that. They should also televise what happens to the “SWATing” morons while they are in prison…and we could all laugh at their situation of getting beat up and made into someone’s bitch for the next several years. They’ll learn the hard way what regret and societal consequences are all about.
I don’t know how to feel about that kid being charged with that.
In one hand, we have a very young person who is being sent to jail thanks to the Patriot Act. That in itself sucks.
However, as a gamer…, isn’t this kid exactly like the ones that make you rage online all the time?
This guy, who is willing to call a swat team for the sake of trolling, can you imagine how toxic his behavior is online?
I really feel indifferent about something bad happening to people like that. They are very toxic, and not deserving of any empathy.
I’m not saying I feel good about the situation, I just can’t bring myself to feel bad about a poisonous person that just now is learning that his actions have consequences.
