"Critique My Akuma!" Video Blog Thread

keep in mind that bison is pimp tho. and as we all know pimps can give ballers a run for their money

he will slap akuma, because akuma is a little bitch in addition to being a baller.

i would have to agree with you but i would also like to add this, sir, akuma has crazy offense and he has the ability to dominate the mind of his opponent as most ballers do

@Jeemer, against that Rufus you frequently landed EX air fireballs and then went in for a dive kick. I’d say, if anything, at least try to mix that up, EX Air Fireballs, if they connect, give you -gratuitous- hit stun to work with. If you connect them, you have ample time to take a few steps forward and far standing roundhouse into a beefy combo.

Good show old bean.

I’m thinking you need to use kara-grab. I pulled that into my game a couple weeks back and its fantastic when hit-confirms are blocked. The range isn’t huge, but its definitely usable.

Congrats on the OCV

^actually I started using it in the chun match…watch all my ticks and I either cLPx2 or cLK->cLP HP kara grab you can even see chun’s cLK come out right before she ets tossed…I’m not too consistent on my kara throws (I’m practicing) but they do a wonder against opselect techs.

I also got my revenge last night against the sim lost to in the tea tournament…vid will be up this week.

Here’s my critique

  1. Vs Ryu…well I can’t really say much but you c.hk sweep to much and that will cost you against a very good Ryu. Also that Ryu player wasn’t good so I can’t really comment because that Ryu player was actually a horrible Ryu player.

  2. Vs Dictator…Good game and I see you have some what a problem when your being rush down. It looks like you got some what impatient at times BUT you did pulled a win against a good Bison player.

  3. Vs Chun… well it was a boring fight

Is this Carlos? I think I met you in NCR a few months ago. I went up to Seattle over Christmas break to see the whole scene. Good to see you’re still leveling up.

Creep-phase over.

Hey Tim yeah I might head down to WCW2 but don’t know…definitely goin to evo. Hit me up on xbLive

My first thought with those sweeps was that you were trying to do a Rd but you were doing it even when you didnt have a ultra but I must say I like your mix ups. I also like how when u were getting rush down towards the end you calm down and started to be patient with your mix ups and won against Bison so overall you have a very good Akuma who I can learn from as well. See I’m more off a zoning/punish you when you mess up type of fighter but overall gg’s you posted there…

^yeah…as akuma you have to be a terrorist…hit and run…but once you’ve gottem down keep kicking them until they get up…I use sweep against bison because properly space it cleanly beats his sMK and sHK…and against ryu since it is safe at max range and can be used to punish cMK whores…
cross up air fb after demon flip throw is gdlk…its a free 50/50 that is completely safe…I’d advise everyone to se it…

Im a really good terrorist when it comes to hit and run but I still have some
things to learn like i hate being rushed down so I have to work on that and work on my balrog and bison match up as well.

yeah balrog is probably the matchup i have the most difficulties with. Even a semi scrub one can be tough if they are smart enough not to use TAP or ex rushes when i have ultra

Yeah I hate the fact that Rogs jab has high priority and I’m still learning to beat him as well as Bison…,y thing is I need to work on being rushed down and thats why i have trouble with Rog and Bison.

for me the problem isn’t getting rushed down (vs balrog) but putting up an offense…his normals are godlike and his anti airs are also beastly…plus his jab stuffs everything.

The only character that really manages to rush me down is Viper. Damn she’s got a terrifying pressure game.

Here are some online matches I had yesterday over GFWL. The quality isn’t really good, but it’s watchable.

Posted up some new vids on my youtube channel… need some tips against Sim,… ShawnMcCool’s Sim is freakin sick,… if you notice when I can get in though I can punish hard, but the keep away games are frustrating…

yeah I fight Balrog and I get caught up with the rush down but its only because his moves are far greater especially his lp…I mean that punck is retarded GDLK for real but I’m learning the match up so now I’m mixing it up more against Rog so its coming out for the better but I have to learn the match up and learn not to fold under pressure and stop being impatient.

Only watched the first video, you advanced way too quickly against him. He ripped you apart because of that. Against a good Sim you need to have patience and look for an opening.

Start by taking it slow and seeing what he is going to do. If he is an impatient Sim (IE tries to teleport on top of you frequently) you can usually punish them for their impatience. See if you can detect a pattern and use that against him. Does he like to use certain attacks at a distance?

If you aren’t finding these options then you need to slowly work your way in. I usually try to zone the Sim to the corner if he isn’t coming to me. Do not overuse fireballs or else you are giving him a free punish. I would even say don’t use them unless it is in reaction to his fire since he can practically punish on reaction. You have to learn how to zone without a lot of fireballs.

The hardest part is once you get in on him to keep pressure on him. There is no sure fire way to do this, but do your best to read his tendencies. If he likes to teleport far away every time then you can empty jump and follow it up with something like a HK.Tatsu or some other move to pursue him. Unlike Akuma, he can only get distance by teleporting backwards. If he gets really predictable you can even use your Ultra sometimes to grab him. Until you punish the teleport you will never be able to use your other attacks.

Sim is a hard character to get on and stay on, but if you get good at pressuring him you can win most Sim match ups.

Hey good stuff that you shared there Loyal (even though it was for someone else). From time to time I can have problems with Sim so I will definitely keep these things in mind when I go up against a Sim in my area. But quick question, What did you mean when you said this quote:

Would you mind being a little more specific? Thanks.
