Create your own Teen themed Hero Team

I never said they are turtles. Just a group of coincidentally named best friends, I guess they solve mysteries.

The bad guy is this kid who loves skate boarding, his nickname is THE SHREDDER. He is so rad. But he hates pizza.

Hates PIZZA!!!?!?!

I want him dead already!!

Man you have always been so good at making completely original characters.

Lol this thread needed to be revived, gonna make up an even better team this time.

(I did a double-take upon seeing how old all posts but the last were, but I suppose at least it’s you who necro’d the thread.)

So I imagine there’s far less pretext to close it now, especially given you’re [probably] not drunk. As such, if this gets closed (provided it hasn’t devolved completely), then I’ll personally re-open it if I’m still around.

As it is, I must ask one thing: Age range of this would be, what, from 12 to 18 or 19?

Also, I guess there’s another thing I can ask right now : Upon completion of a team, do I get to have it unceremoniously cancelled by Cartoon Network?

We’ll name her Black Rose, in memory of what happened to White Rose, she of the Mystic No-Ass.

wonders who else will get this

Age range would be 10-17. @kromo

Ya’ll niggas over here.

Their arch-nemesis?

BetheladarThe unmerciful Queen of the eternally damned, Goddess of despair and mutilation. Keeper of the Orb of Unimaginable Impurities, an object forged in fresh virgin’s blood on a bed of the unborn. The very earth quakes at the mere mention of her name, she brings only madness and death, her immeasurable hatred can only be sated via ritual sacrifice under a blood red moon. She has slain Lucifer himself and absorbed his very essence. Her gaze ignites, her breathe rots the flesh, her presence peels away at the mind, not breaking it, but hollowing it out before filling the void with a level of pain no mortal can possibly describe. To pray is futile, all Gods are dead, she is to blame. No one is safe, we are hers now. To fear is useless, save your strength. All is lost, all is nothing.Jackson.

(Looking back through the thread, I probably took this more seriously than everyone else. It wouldn’t be the first time though.)

Still, in giving this some thought while on my daily walks over the weekend, I came up with stuff relatively quickly that took off from a yet unused Australian superhero(ine) idea I’ve had for a while–about a couple of years. It’s perhaps…awkwardly ill-timed given the unfortunate hostage situation & resolution that went on in Sydney on Monday, but I can’t help that. I’m just putting out there this wasn’t influenced by that at all and thus that no offense is meant; as it is, I’ve delayed this two days partly because of that.

Regardless, I’ll be using spoilers for history/biography stuff since like most of my posts this gets excessively lengthy. Really excessively lengthy. Oops.

MEET TEAM SAFEGUARD, AUSTRALIA’S TEENAGE SUPERHERO TEAM!

Team Leader and Son & Sometimes-Sidekick of World Famous Superhero, Sentinel
Codename: Evervigil
Birth Name: Seth A. Newman
Current Name: Seth A. King
Sex: Male
Nationality: Australian
Ethnicity: German, British, Norwegian, a smidgen Aboriginal
Current Age: 15
Current Height: 175 cm/5’9"
Current Weight: 64 kg/140 lb
(Close) Relationships: Kain S. Newman | Sentinel (biological father & mentor), Beatrice C. Smith, nee King (biological mother), Thom S. Smith (step-father), Henry H. Smith (younger half-brother)

Known Superhuman Abilities: Super senses; superhuman strength; enhanced speed; enhanced stamina; enhanced healing factor; nightvision; (seeming) basic communication with but not command of animals of the genus of Canis.

Other Notable Abilities: High proficiency at hand-to-hand combat, particularly Judo and Boxing; double-jointed; exceptional proficiency at yoga and meditation; exceptionally proficiency at chess; (secretly) modestly increasing proficiency at Vietnamese in addition to be being able to speak both fluent German and English.

Specific Weaknesses: Significant allergic reactions to silver and wolfsbane; occasional sensory overload, most vulnerable on an aural level to sonic attacks; OCD.

History/Mini-Biography:
Seth Adam King’s life has been complicated well before his birth, in a manner that seems to belie his eternally calm nature even though it’s the direct cause of it. Born to a human mother and the superhero Sentinel, who at the time was also still secretly a werewolf, the mere latter stages of his mother’s pregnancy with him almost killed her and left her barren, leading to his parents’ bitter divorce. She would have been left barren permanently had not Avalon, urged by Sentinel himself, eventually found a way to heal her, though his parents are still greatly estranged, especially now that his mother has moved on with her life and tried desperately to find normalcy.

It is both the circumstances of his birth and of his mother’s search for normalcy that has led to a rather emotionally distant relationship between Seth and she despite his primarily living with her and her relatives for the majority of his life. This strain has only deepened after her being cured by Avalon, her subsequent remarriage to Mr. Smith and the birth of her younger son and Seth’s younger half-brother, Henry.

Seth’s relationship with his father is unfortunately little better emotionally. Between training Seth to handle his innate abilities and Kain continually feeling a bit of what he’s long since recognized as petty, irrational jealousy at the fact his son has all of advantages of being a werewolf with a minimization of the side-effects, including a complete inability to transform or of being particularly forced to transform during a full moon, Kain has almost always treated Seth as a student and guilty burden first and son second. As such, their relationship is almost strictly professional at this age given that Seth has been Kain’s sidekick for a few years by this point and Kain is usually traveling the world looking for a cure as well as often isolating himself towards a full moon when not just being distant.

Seth currently lives at Safeguard’s headquarters most of the time as such when he either isn’t at school or at his mother’s. He has the pretext of being leader of Safeguard, appointed by Sentinel, Avalon and Silver Arrow as such, and most people not knowing about his father’s true identity (or nature) to keep most people who know about his living situation from asking about why he chooses to be there so much.

He has been trained to be calm and controlled in all circumstances, and acts as such even in the field. As such, he can often come off as aloof, cold and even robotic despite genuinely caring, which is part of the reason that Chase tends to be the go-to person to handle any public relations the team may need to engage in. Seth is often too busy to handle public relations anyway given how hard he works himself by constant physical and mental exercising and training to make sure his still growing body stays controlled so he doesn’t accidentally become a monster. This even before his worsening OCD and tendency to overtax even his enhanced stamina come into account.

He currently is trying to reconcile the fact that he’s attracted to Catherine a.k.a. Katscratch with what he feels are the fact that it would be better they remain as friends even if the attraction was mutual given their line of “work” and current team dynamics; there’s also the problem that her powers are somewhat anathema to his OCD. He’s also currently trying to figure out how to let down Patrick “gently” since Seth has realized that Patrick is attracted to him and both currently call headquarters home. Both of these things and hormones have been vexing him as of late.

Trivium: Officially he has no religion, but if people ask, he’ll say he’s Buddhist.

Likes: Order, cleanness, quietude, dogs & wolves & other animals in the genus Canis, foxes, calm & honest discussion, reading, meditating & doing Yoga, moon-gazing & stargazing, chess.

Dislikes: Chaos, dirty circumstances, excessively loud noises and people, silver, wolfsbane, exceptionally foul smells like burnt hair, wool, spicy foods, cheese & most other dairy products.
Second-In Command and First-Generation Superheroine, Second-Generation Public Servant
Codename: Katscratch
Birth Name: Catherine Nguyen-Pham
Sex: Female
Nationality: Australian
Ethnicity: Vietnamese
Current Age: 17
Current Height: 165 cm/5’5"
Current Weight: 52 kg/115 lb
(Close) Relationships: Vinh Thi Nguyen-Pham, nee Pham (biological mother), Thanh Van Nguygen (biological father, deceased), Vance Nguyen-Pham (younger brother), Kimberly Nguyen-Pham (younger sister), Cam Thi Pham (maternal grandmother), Thuyet Thi Nguyen-Vu, nee Vu (fraternal grandmother), Quan Van Nguyen (maternal grandfather)
[Apologies for the lack of appropriate diacritic marks and likely of Vietnamese naming conventions for anyone who cares about that. A quick look at the Wikipedia entry for Vietnamese naming only helps so much.]

Known Superhuman Abilities: With concentration can sense germs, bacteria, and viral agents, store them harmlessly in her body after an accelerated and lessened infection period, and then release them on command to infect her opponents, permanently or temporarily, via touch or bodily fluid; enhanced strength and agility resulting from this when not actively sick herself.

Other Notable Abilities: Extensive medical knowledge, particularly of human anatomy & human biology and infectious diseases, especially relative to her age and for one not formally in a medical profession; above average proficiency at hand-to-hand combat; native-level fluent proficiency of Vietnamese language in addition to speaking fluent English.

Specific Weaknesses: Healing magic works…weirdly on her given the nature of powers; getting sick still has often still has an initial, briefly severe effect on her.

History/Mini-Biography:
The second-generation Vietnamese-Australian daughter of two doctors, Catherine Nguyen-Pham only got into costumed life a couple of years ago as a way to try to cope with the sudden death of her father in a drunk driving accident. The drunk driver evaded arrest until Catherine decided to go after him herself over the objections of her mother, who contacted Silver Arrow to follow Catherine. If it wasn’t for Silver Arrow, then Catherine may have killed him, though she still gave him several rather nasty, permanent if not contagious diseases for a while. It was after this incident–and a very stern talking to by her mother–that Silver Arrow approached her about possibly becoming a part of a team of youngsters with powers that Australia’s relatively few costumed adults were putting together; Silver Arrow of course talked to Vinh about this beforehand. Catherine said yes after giving it some thought.

Before her father’s death, Catherine would have scoffed at the idea, naturally. It was only in comic books that you could help people and solve problems by punching who dressed absurdly in the face and even in those it was iffy. She figured that if she wanted to help people, such as her beloved grandmother who began to suffer more and more from after-effects of Agent Orange around the time of Catherine’s birth, then she would become some type of medical doctor like her parents. Once her in-born abilities–seemingly from her mother’s side–became apparent and were obviously stronger than her mother’s seeming immunity to disease, she resolved even harder to go down the medical path, especially if she would one day need to keep herself in check. After all, she figured out the transmission aspect of her powers after accidentally getting her younger brother seriously ill in a fit of anger.

Despite saying yes to joining what would become Safeguard and generally liking what’s she’s doing with the team, clashing with Aim-Ready aside, such concerns still nag her mind. This especially after being named officially second in-command behind Evervigil about a year into her superheroing. On top of that, there’s the fact that the public at large is ignorant of what her actual abilities are, thinking that she’s most just superhumanly agile and strong young woman in a literal catsuit. This rather than a living vector that many of those people in the know, including Catherine herself, think would likely cause panic in the general public, possibly even on an international scale. It’s been relatively easy to hide thus far given how little she uses it, especially conspicuously.

Even so, despite resolving to focus even more on school, she’s also resolved to try to understand how to control her powers better, especially since her little sister may be getting a version of them as well; her little brother seems to have no powers, though he’s more concerned with sports than anything else. If she can also make sure that both her mother and Evervigil don’t work themselves death, then so much the better. And if she can get the relatively new Australian supervillain, White Knight, to join Safeguard like what happened with Nighthunter, Black Grass and, let’s be honest, Aim-Ready, then that would be even better still.

Trivium: Despite her being the original idea that spurred everything, her powers have changed from ones of poison to being like The Host and Infectious Lass, sans the latter’s power incontinence.

Likes: Dogs, snakes, the ocean, long walks on the beach, long baths, caring for others, going to the movies, documentaries, photography, doctors, pho.

Dislikes: Cats, going swimming, cigarettes, alcohol, people who litter, people who don’t get vaccines, being sick, seeing others be sick especially because of her, hot dogs, pigeons, seagulls.
Public Face of Safeguard Who Always Puts On A Smile for the Camera
Codename: Cube-Squared
Birth Name: Chase N. Morton
Alias: Trace Vale
Sex: Male
Nationality: Australian
Ethnicity: British, Irish, Dutch, Italian
Current Age: 16
Current Height: 175 cm/5’9"
Current Weight: 66 kg/145 lb
(Fading) Relationships: Ace M. Morton (biological father), Nancy Q. Morton, nee O’Brain (biological mother), Michael A. Morton (older brother), Tiffany Q. Morton (oldest sister), Tracy M. Morton (older sister).

Known Superhuman Abilities: Creation and manipulation of force-fields. Known limitations to these force-fields are manifold: they must be movable, they must be visible, they must be translucent, they must not intersect with solid matter, they must apparently transmit some degree of touch sensation–often pain or strain–to Cube-Squared, they cannot exceed a collective area more than 216 cubic meters–about 7,627.968 cubic feet–and, last but not least, they must be perfectly geometric with all sides equal.

Other Notable Abilities: Exceptional proficiency at mathematics, especially geometry; exceptional proficiency at pool/billiards; significantly high proficiency at international football and rugby; moderate proficiency at computer hacking.

Specific Weaknesses: Force fields can be penetrated by photonic or sonic weaponry or otherwise detrimental effects of either nature; force fields can still be externally affected and (greatly) moved by significant kinetic forces and impacts even when he tries to still them.

History/Mini-Biography:
Before his powers manifested, Chase Nicholas Morton’s life was relatively ideal: well-liked with a great relationship with his peers and family, captain of the (international) football team, tops marks in school, generally given free reign of his free time due to the level of trust in him and with no shortage of people hitting on him. All and all, it was a great but still normal, relatively uneventful life.

That all ended about a year and a half ago the day he woke up and found that he suddenly could generate geometric force fields what he initially thought were “way cool”. Through a series of initial misfortunes and a combination of early on power incontinence–“How do I (not) shot force-field?”–and the ubiquity of people with camera-capable-phones & social media, he and his powers were “outed” before the end of the week. Initially, he and his family tried to take the new fame in stride despite fame’s intrusiveness given their collective competitive streak and the relative rarity of superpowers in Australia.

It quickly got worse.

After about a couple of weeks of incessant fame, he and his family were outright attacked by an as of yet still mysterious organization that seemed intent on capturing him. They almost initially succeeded, kidnapping Chase despite his powers after threatening to kill his family, but were thwarted by a combination of Sentinel, Avalon, Evervigil, Pagemaster and the Japanese superhero Son of Sun, who happened to be visiting to follow-up on a lead on the international Japanese supervillain Umiboozu. This event forced all of Chase’s family, including Chase himself, into protective custody, wherein they still remain today, a fact that has only strained their relationship with each other and especially with Chase. It also forced the end of Chase’s regular schooling & sports activities and contact with most of his schoolmates.

Chase’s version of protective custody is something of a gilded cage given that as part of “protecting” him, he has to be on team Safeguard, which he is mostly fine with; he finds it nice to able help people even if it’s the only thing good to come out of his powers. It’s not like he can have a secret identity anyway like any of the others at this point despite having much better control of his powers nowadays given he was “outed” before he even suited up. It’s for this reason that he’s the public face of Safeguard, even if that position is…tiring, alongside the various assumptions he has to deal with as it is.

Like his force fields, he feels like people tend to just look through him without actually perceiving anything except what they expect to find. He generally tries to keep it to himself with a smile, but being stuck at headquarters with Evervigil, who he’s still grateful to but who he finds…difficult to talk to when not on the field, and more recently with Black Grass is a bit maddening. He’s become increasingly lonely, which everyone else seems oblivious to, which has caused him to try to out a new civilian alias–with Avalon’s permission–so he can go out and get back into school.

It’s also caused him to keep the fact that the-maybe-supervillain Code Read seems to be trying to contact him as of late…

Trivium: Chase originally wanted to call himself “Rubik’s Cube”, but then was told he couldn’t because the word “Rubik’s” is trademarked.

Likes: Being active, international football, rugby, wrestling, tennis, basketball, long-distance running, being at sports events, Rubik’s cubes, mathematics–particularly geometry, camping, going to the beach, swimming, surfing, stargazing, astronomy, computers.

Dislikes: Being forced to stay inside, being forced to watch sports events on TV if possible to otherwise attend, rain, snow, sleet & hail, American football, baseball, chocolate, chess, being in front of the camera, public speaking, smartphones, flying.
Not Last, But Definitely Least In His Own Mind Despite (Secretly) Being the Son of and (Publicly) Sidekick to the World-Famous Superhero(ine), Avalon
Current Codename: Spellbreaker
Previous Codename: Pagemaster
Birth Name: Noah J. Morton-Rosenkranz
Sex: Male
Nationality: Australian
Ethnicity: British (chiefly English), German, about a quarter "Black"
Current Age: 17
Current Height: 170 cm/5’7"
Current Weight: 68 kg/150 lb
(Close) Relationships: Sarah D. Rosenkranz | Avalon (biological mother & mentor), Joseph D. Morton (biological father), Ferris J. Morton-Rosenkranz (younger fraternal twin brother), Seras J. Morton-Rosenkranz (younger fraternal twin sister)

Known Superhuman Abilities: Currently: Cursed/blessed/afflicted/accidentally gifted with seemingly complete immunity to any direct effects of magic(k), whether they would be harmful or beneficial; neutralization of magic(k)al effects that come into contact with his skin, hair or bodily fluids.

Previously, before the final “incident” with The Crafter of Love: Decent proficiency with most types of non-forbidden magic(k), barring potions, levitation and summonings & teleportations.

Other Notable Abilities: Moderate proficiency at identification and knowledge of magic(k)al spells & objects and supernatural & magic(k)al entities; moderate proficiency with a quarterstaff.

Specific Weaknesses: No protection from indirect physical effects of magic or direct, normal effects of otherwise enchanted or magical weapons, i.e. White Knight’s ice sword still being, well, an actual sword; inferiority complex and low self-esteem.

History/Mini-Biography:
Noah Jonathan Morton-Rosenkranz’s life has always been more than a little atypical given that he was born to one of the world’s most prominent magician and arguably the world’s most famous non-American superhero, Avalon. From an early age, he showed potential to follow in his mother’s footsteps, especially after he got old enough for her to start actively training him, despite her being as initially reluctance as she was to do so in anything more than a basic defensive capacity. He eventually became her young sidekick, Pagemaster, and even got to travel with her to Great Britain, particularly London, occasionally.

Of course, it was in London where his potential was cut short, possibly permanently.

For it was in a London about a year ago that the supervillain potions master, The Crafter of Love, was effectively cornered during an arcane ritual by Avalon, Noah-as-Pagemaster and several members of the British superhero group, The Round Table, including his mother’s friendly rival, The Lady of the Lake. His mother had felt the need to get involved with apprehending The Crafter of Love given that she had thought him reformed from his abhorrent initial modus operandi of using the love potions he made to seduce women and men. She believed him when he said that he genuinely wasn’t aware how much of a subversion of will use of such things caused, especially when he turned himself in without a fight during their last encounter; he was of course released quickly given how difficult it is to prove use of magic, especially when most people still don’t believe in it. After that, despite trying to keep tabs on him, she had lost track of him until he popped in London, apparently gathering ingredients that would allow him to invoke the ability to effectively become immune to and neutralize all magic, heedless of how dangerous such a thing would actually be.

It was in the ensuing battle that Noah accidentally tipped the cauldron and its contents containing the main part of the ritual onto himself and nearly died. In the ensuing chaos from both the resultant summons and the surprising help The Crafter of Love appeared to have had from the intentional group of thieves, Quoth the Raven, Avalon found The Crafter of Love’s burnt, almost-ashes body in a clearing. Of course, to this day, some believe she killed him, though she has yet to be indicted or charged.

It would seem even in his own story that Noah’s mother somewhat hijacks his life. Ever since that incident, she has done little besides cast guilty looks when she doesn’t think he sees. She particularly smothered him with doting well after his recovery, especially after finding out what effect the ritual had on him. Now she searches the world for a cure while Noah himself, meanwhile, had to beg to be able to join Safeguard in his current condition as “Spellbreaker” after initially declining as “Pagemaster”.

Now Noah is stuck on a team in what he feels is basically a largely podunk, boring area compared to Great Britain, particularly London, and the Northern Hemisphere in general, at least on a superpowered scale. On top of that, he’s stuck on a team where his newfound “abilities” are basically useless in most instances and he’s thus by far the weakest of all his peers. His powers don’t even work on Evervigil despite Evervigil’s father’s powers being magical in nature. Similarly, he is basically the only member of the team besides Chase who is actually affected by Blair’s power over darkness since everyone else has some form of nightvision. At this point, he’s not even sure if he really wants his powers back since he’d just be second-best to at least his own mother, if not his own younger siblings, who seem to both be showing even more potential than he did at their age.

All he wants is a little respect, which is apparently difficult to get when it’s either piggybacked from being Avalon’s son for the few who know, born from pity when people find out about his current “affliction” or generally just not given to him. Being cited as reckless and increasingly short-tempered doesn’t help, especially when he’s only fourth-in-command reserve-wise, being only above three people who Safeguard might not even be able to ultimately trust.

As such, Noah spends his much of his time wondering why this happened to him and if he’s forever doomed to be inferior to everyone even though he’s older than everyone else.

Trivium: He has a crush on Katscratch and knows her real identity, but as of yet, he’s not really done anything about it outside of try to get her to go on some “not-dates” with him that have been interrupted or called off for one reason or another.

Likes: Medieval history and history in general, reading, owls, frogs & toads, horses, goats, baseball, flying under magical power, spellcasting, Monty Python, the original Star Wars movies, Pagemaster (the animated movie), Halloween.

Dislikes: The Harry Potter series, Star Wars prequels, cats, spiders, unicorns, people who call Avalon a witch or a Satanist, guns, teleporting, cauldrons, flying in an airplane, pranks played on him especially by the twins, bears, bees, wasps.
Brash, Abrasive and Mysterious Former Brutal Vigilante Who is Hot-Tempered Both Figuratively and Literally
Codename: Aim-Ready
Given Name: Amy Redding
Sex: Female
Nationality: Australian?
Ethnicity: Unknown
Current Age: 16?
Current Height: 173 cm/5’8"
Current Weight: N/A
Relationships: Rebecca Chamberlain | Silver Arrow ([begrudging] mentor)

Known Superhuman Abilities: Fiery breath; superhuman eyesight and nightvision; superhuman strength; enhanced durability; enhanced healing factor; seemingly completely imprevious to detrimental effects of fire, heat and smoke.

Other Notable Abilities: Exceptional proficiency with projectile weapons that seems to be gained rapidly, with a preference for longbows; moderate proficiency at unarmed hand-to-hand combat; seemingly native-level language proficiency of Italian and Latin in addition to speaking fluent English.

Specific Weaknesses: NONE! And don’t you forget it, churl! (Psst…she’s weak to sub-freezing cold.)

History:
Not much is known about the girl who calls herself Amy Redding except that she has a relatively strong if merciless sense of justice, has at least some affinity with fire that indicates she isn’t completely (a normal) human, has a tendency to speak using somewhat archaic terms & syntax and has an abrasive hot-streak & confrontational attitude. She was found after several petty thieves, drug dealers and would-be muggers found themselves rather brutalized night after night in the same wide urban area and Safeguard was dispatched to find out who was tossing criminals like sheets of paper before that someone killed someone. It was a relatively short assignment as the vigilante made herself rather known about two days in when she dropped straight down from the top of a building and then broke the leg of a drunken man accosting a woman like a twig with a single kick to the knee.

A brief chase and short battle between she and Team Safeguard sans Spellbreaker ensued, which to this day Aim-Ready will deny she lost. After her not-loss, she agreed to come in to talk to Sentinel, Avalon and Silver Arrow rather than risk incarceration. No one on Safeguard aside from her knows what was actually talked about, not even Evervigil or Spellbreaker. All anyone else knows is that it resulted in her joining the team under the guise “Aim-Ready” with her being supposedly mentored by Silver Arrow while all possible charges were dropped or cleared.

Despite the…contentious relationship she and Silver Arrow have given Aim-Ready’s constant insult towards the “powerless woman”, whatever deal was struck has yet to be rescinded, even after Nighthunter became Silver Arrow’s newest student and later joined the team. What similarly persists is Amy’s often chafing with the team aside from Chase and, to a lesser degree, Seth and the two newcomers Patrick and Blair; she and Catherine outright openly dislike each other despite being the only two girls on the team. Whether or not this abrasiveness is a front, a response to the open distrust people still have of her given how forthcoming she isn’t or due to something else is difficult to tell.

At the very least, Aim-Ready’s brutality when taking down criminals and supervillains, would-be or otherwise, has lessened, which everyone is thankful for.

Trivium: Despite mostly keeping to herself when in civilian form and being standoffish and generally uninterested in schooling or people her age, if anyone asks her ethnicity and she’s feeling polite enough to answer, she’ll say she’s Southern Italian given she’s ambiguously tan enough.

Likes: people who use power responsibly, bravery, intelligence, strength, fire, lizards, snakes, sunbathing, archery, swords, fighting, direct & forceful action.

Dislikes: weaklings, cowards, fools, braggarts, people who rely on tools for power, people who wish for things without taking action, guns, being hit on, going to the beach, swimming, politics, cold days and cold places, winter, snow & ice, gold, jewelry, pyromaniacs, holier-than-thou people, Catholicism & Catholic churches, Bipolaris, White Knight.
Do-Gooder with a Green Thumb and Amnesiac Mind Who Searches For Identity
Codename: Black Grass
Chosen Name: Patrick Redfield
Sex: Male
Nationality: Unknown
Ethnicity: Presumably at least Irish or Scottish
Current Age: Presumed 15 or 16; considers himself 16
Current Height: 165 cm/5’5"
Current Weight: 59 kg/130 lb
Relationship: Unknown

Known Superhuman Abilities: Manipulation of plants, including acceleration of their growth, enhancement of their durability and granting of motility where applicable; seeming immunity to or at least high levels of resistance to various poisons and detrimental chemicals naturally excreted by or derived from plants. Known limitations are a complete inability to control fungi and relatively minimal control of wood in addition to being unable to grant any significant motility to strongly rooted plant life, i.e. trees, or sustain unrooted plant life for a significant amount of time.

Other Notable Abilities: Extreme proficiency at identification and applications of plants and at caring for plants–it’s difficult to tell whether this is part of his powers, part of his repressed memories or both though.

Specific Weaknesses: Seemingly severely hydrophobic, though mostly only in response to large natural bodies of water; seemingly more susceptible to psychic or mentally-based manipulations, suggestions and attacks.

History/Mini-Biography:
If little is known about the girl who calls herself Amy Redding, then even less is currently known about the boy who has come to call himself Patrick Redfield. Similar to how Safeguard found Amy, Patrick found Safeguard…and attacked them in a monstrous-looking armor made of plants that looked like a cross between Swamp Thing and Nemesis from Resident Evil; newcomer Nighthunter later said it also reminded him of Tangrowth from Pokemon.

Despite almost being severely burned by Aim-Ready in the fight that followed, when it was discovered that there was boy inside of the armor, he was ultimately subdued with a tranquilizing arrow and recovered. After waking up in restraints, the boy appeared to be in trance that Avalon was able to snap him out o, whereafter he claimed to not know where he was, what he had done or even who he was. Upon initial interrogation and then subsequent interrogations with the few known superheroes with either lie-detecting or powerful telepathic or telepathy-like psychic abilities, this completely amnesiac defense has so far held up.

As such, given that he hasn’t matched any missing person reports despite there being relatively few naturally red-haired people in the world, he is being kept under surveillance while being allowed to live at Safeguard’s secret headquarters. Despite not being exactly privy to it, both Evervigil and Spellbreaker are aware there’s an odd rift between their parents over whether or not to release the boy’s face to the international media in hopes of finding out his real identity, especially in light of what happened to Chase. Evervigil has even relayed as much as to the boy given they effectively live together and has told the boy he should decide on what he wants to do.

At present, the boy, who has come to call himself Patrick Redfield, is trying to figure out both who he is and what defines him as well still trying to decide on the proposal Evervigil has given him. So far he knows relatively little about himself beyond the immediately physical and his strange abilities over plant-life even though both Evervigil and Aim-Ready have told to try to be methodical about it. That just feels…so far artificial to him and he’s trying to live normally enough despite the circumstances.

So far he knows that despite the red-hair, he has no Scottish or Irish brogue to his speech, so he probably wasn’t raised or even born in either of those countries even if he may be “from” them. He knows he really likes gardening and seems to prefer eating vegetables and fruit even if not strictly vegatarian, though that may just be due to his powers. As far as major issues go, he knows he generally seems to be a people person (unlike Aim-Ready…or Spellbreaker…or Evervigil), really dislikes getting rained on and generally has some type of severe hydrophobia, as evidenced by having a significant panic attack when the others brought him to the beach; he’d like to not repeat that last one.

Other than that, it’s mostly insubstantial things that he knows he likes: flying kites, Resident Evil, rainbows, kangaroos & wallabies, men, cats & dogs, playing international football, etc. Typical minor stuff like that he’s trying not to let define him one way or the other, especially since he’s both living and working with two really handsome, nice guys who would both probably otherwise be understandably disgusted and stop being nice to him if they knew.

Sigh. Why this is his life no one seems to know, not even himself, but it’s not like he has anywhere else to go.

Trivia: Given he knows what happened to Chase, he’s chosen to use a completely concealing costume and call himself “Black Grass” because “it just seems like people expect anyone with the word ‘black’ in their name to be, well, black. I mean, most of the black superheroes and even supervillains do have that in their names, ya know Spellbreaker?” Given Spellbreaker doesn’t look black at all and Avalon wears a glamour that makes her look like various other “races” and skin tones, the reason Spellbreaker subsequently rolled his eyes and stormed off is still lost on Patrick.

Likes: Umbrellas, gardening, vegetables, fruit–excepting beans, going hiking, going for runs, flying kites, Resident Evil–particularly Chris Redfield, Sean Connery, rainbows, marsupials, Rocko’s Modern Life, Avatar: The Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra, cats, dogs, international and American football, Pokemon, fish, pho, cooking, cake, pie, ice cream, pizza, school.

Dislikes: Large bodies of water, cloudy days, rain, thunderstorms, camping, steak, spiders, baths, swimming, going to the beach, beans, tennis, clowns, puppets, dolls, playing card games or board games with Blair the cheater.
History/Mini-Biography:
Blair Nathaniel Baird is the son of a long-time career if petty-crimes criminal and conman and a woman who has been missing for the past year and a half. His father, already well-known to the law, was rather quickly implicated in her disappearance and presumed murder and swiftly imprisoned. This led to Australian authorities to placing Baird with his mother’s estranged family, who loathed both he and his father even before his mother’s disappearance. Having found himself effectively homeless after running away from that subsequent placement and having being versed in the criminal element by his father, he made a living for a while stealing from and conning people in and around Sydney, especially tourists. During that time, he was more concerned with evading the police or other capture than finding a legitimate roof to keep over his head, not that he could.

Upon turning 13, though, he got a surprising birthday present seemingly via a late on-set of puberty: the ability to manipulate shadow and darkness as well as the ability to see in total darkness whether he creates it or not. While not allowing him to do any physical or tangible manipulation, it greatly increased his ability to commit crimes and get away scot-free if he was even noticed at all. Such successes quickly went to his head and after about six months of this, he figured he was good enough with his powers to potentially break his father out of his imprisonment.

Before he could do that though, Blair figured he needed to be sure that he could at least take on Safeguard, if not also Sentinel, Avalon and Silver Arrow eventually. After all, it wouldn’t do to pull a prison break only to get nabbed by “super-coppers” and get imprisoned alongside his (innocent) father. So, donning a generic ski mask and all-black costume, he slightly upped his criminal game to garner Safeguard’s attention and called them out (via graffiti) while calling himself “THE MASTER OF DARKNESS”.

…Two subsequent curbstomp battles later–he escaped the first time–by Evervigil, Cube-Squared and Spellbreaker (more so the former two), he was captured and brought in for questioning by Sentinel, Avalon and Silver Arrow given he hadn’t seem to actually hurt anyone (yet). Well, that and Spellbreaker begrudgingly had confirmed that Blair’s powers didn’t seem to be magical since he and Chase couldn’t see through it without the night-vision function in Chase’s goggles, meaning they were clearly dealing with someone whose powers couldn’t be easily neutralized by either Spellbreaker or Avalon.

After telling them his story, Silver Arrow sympathized despite his being unrepentant about both his various crimes and wanting to free his father. As such, given it was less of a security risk to let him stay with her rather than at Safeguard headquarters given her rather public identity, she took him aside and gave him the offer to take over as his guardian while his father was imprisoned. He reluctantly accepted, only really being eventually swayed by her promising to help look into his father’s case and prove his father’s innocence. Being able to learn about archery and general marksmanship–even if Silver Arrow isn’t letting him touch any real guns–was just a side benefit.

Three months later, he’d been vetted enough, at least by Silver Arrow, Sentinel and Aim-Ready, to be let on to the very Safeguard team he was ready to beat. It remains to be seen whether he is capable of actual loyalty and any real attachment to anyone but his father though.

Trivia: Avalon’s usual paranoia and caution applies to not only to Blair but to Chase, Amy, Patrick as well, though in Chase’s case, it’s only his powers: they’re clearly not magical and they seem like they’re the result of some organization trying to manufacture a weapon. Yet they’re almost entirely defensively oriented in nature, even before Chase’s nature comes into play. She finds it rather vexing, especially given this organization has yet to be caught.

Of the other three, she and Sentinel are most worried about the potential of Blair’s abilities. Despite its current level of relative weakness, the fact that it’s not a magical ability may well signal that he’ll have potential control over photons someday as well, which may well make him one of the most dangerous people on the planet, especially given his more remorseless tendencies. Avalon and Sentinel also fear that Silver Arrow and maybe even Aim-Ready may have become far too attached to the boy already.

Likes: Card games–particularly poker, non-magic magic tricks, illusions, sneaking up on people, playing pranks, easy marks, cartoons, power, driving and stealing (in) nice cars, liquor, darkness & the night, sleeping-in, cheating at boring board games, going to movies, action movies, FPS games, stargazing, archery, rivalry with Amy.

Dislikes: Police, prisons, courts, general authority, detective movies & film noir, trying to learn actual magic(k)–so boring, being perceived as weak, having to handle explosives, getting caught, getting up early, losing to Amy, chess, doing hard work without getting paid for it.
As for their enemies, well, Australia doesn’t really have very many supervillains, at least that operate in public with colorful costumes that scream “punch me in the face!” This is part of the reason that Sentinel and Avalon aren’t in Australia a lot, though they’re both non-native Australians anyway. Still, there are some super-powered people who the team have to deal with often enough.

Local Threats:
1. White Knight - Secretly an Arabic-British young man on the hunt for magical artifacts in Australia while also going to school there; happens to go to the same school as Catherine and has mutual UST with her in and out of costume. [/drama!] He has a magical sword we’ll call Icebrand that encases itself and him in a non-harmful armor of thick, magic ice that looks like a knight’s. It can create other objects out of ice, but generally harmfully freezes anything else it slashes or even just touches. He doesn’t exactly live up to his name since he’s generally fine with hitting women, at least if they attack him first; this was evidenced by him cold-cocking–haha–Aim-Ready in the face the first time they fought given she tried to set him on fire to no avail. He’s pretty much the only villain that Safeguard fights that Spellbreaker currently feels useful against.

 1. Code Read - A hacker that has been determined by international authorities to probably be located in either Australia or New Zealand and also determined to possibly be a techno-path if it is a single person given the sheer speed and scope of the hacking. Given the nature of Code Read, the team hasn’t had any direct, physical interaction with this person or persons per se, but has merely been assigned to cases where they’ve “struck” or are suspected to be targeting next to deal with the fallout. Also, as mentioned above, this person or persons currently seems to be trying to get Cube-Squared’s attention.

 2. Honeytrap Group - Australia’s very own "“Goldfish Poop Gang”/merry band of polite cool losers that has declared itself in many respects to be the anti-Safeguard, it is Safeguard’s most constant superpowered foes. It is an animal-themed group that can be legitimately dangerous to anyone who isn’t a superhero or heavily/properly armed/equipped to deal with them. It’s made up of five people in seemingly in their mid-20s-to-early-30s who mostly dress in bear furs:

a. Bipolaris - The jocular jock type of the group, he can control temperature to a significant extent, usually using it to create ice for certain effects. He doesn’t exactly appreciate White Knight “muscling in” on his superpower territory. His costume generally looks like a polar bear.

b. Pandamonium - The arrogant, brainy type of the group, he can induce extreme disorientation & nausea akin to vertigo and even unconsciousness in a general area with his psychic abilities. His own group tends to have to get out of the way of his power, so he tends to have to single himself out and isolate himself, which leads to him usually getting knocked out first much to his annoyance. His costume generally looks like a panda bear.

c. Grizzly - The dead serious type of the group, he’s also the laconic muscle of the group given his superhuman strength, enhanced speed & senses and healing factor. He has a tendency to single out Evervigil. He’s viewed as easily the most dangerous person in the group given both his readiness to use intimidation & violence and the fact that Evervigil has related to at least Sentinel and Avalon that he thinks Grizzly is also a werewolf of some kind. His “costume” is generally him just draping a grizzly bear skin over him with small face mask that’s just big enough to make identifying him difficult.

d. Sunny - The newcomer of the group from New Zealand and the only one of the group to not have any actual powers, he’s mostly the demolitions expert and get-away driver. He’s still not exactly sure how he got roped into this and he rather wishes that Queen B would remember his name or at least stop calling him “Cher Bear” due to his (totally sweet) handlebar mustache. Still, he figures he’ll make the best of it since The Honeytrap Group has a decent amount of power and yet seem to care enough to not be (mass-)murderers unlike some people while also being in an area where someone pretending to Superman won’t just randomly swoop and destroy them. He be(ar)grudgingly wears a costume that looks like a sun bear.

e. Queen B - The androgynous leader of The Honeytrap Group is a womanly figure who wears not a bear costume or even indeed an insect costume–“black and yellow looks so gaudy on most humans, darling”–but instead wears various vividly colored costumes that tend to reference famous women such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Carmen Sandiego. Due to being soft-spoken if deep-voiced, overly polite and prone to calling everyone inappropriately sweet nicknames like “Candy”, “Sweetheart” and “Peach” on top of just generally never looking overtly threatening, people tend to underestimate Queen B a lot. This is bad. Queen B, after all, gets what Queen B wants and is also the leader of the group for a reason besides being probably the only person who can get away with calling Grizzly a nickname–“Grimmikins”–without getting eviscerated. Queen B can be very commanding and persuading when Queen B wants to be and not just because Queen B has the power to control swarms of insects & arachnids on the continent that hoses arguably the world’s most dangerous wildlife.

Together, they fight perpetrate crime…fabulously.
As far as international threats go, Safeguard tends to not really deal with them due both to their lack of easy access to (fast) international-capable transportation and both Sentinel and Avalon basically forbidding them to do so in most cases. It doesn’t mean that such threats don’t flit and out of Australia though.

International Threats:
1. Quoth the Raven - An international group of art and jewelry thieves who dress in black with black costume-ball domino bird masks and seem universally capable of flight. Even before the incident with The Crafter of Love, after which Avalon’s been keeping closer tabs on them, most people tended to agree that something just feels…off about them.

 1. Umiboozu - A Japanese eco-terrorist/“purposeful environmental activist” who dresses like a bhikku/bonze, complete with a takuhatsugasa, and who has power over waters, which he’s used to inflict damage on both big organizations & businesses and small-time fishers & communities that he feels are polluting the water or otherwise harming aquatic life. His attacks have only gotten more violent after the incident in Fukushima. Avalon is publicly part of the international effort to stop him, though she’s also somewhat privately trying to detriment whether his powers are magic(k)al in nature or not. The chief suspect, if he is powered by a magic(k) artifact, is the khakkhara he’s always seen with.

 2. Athena of Mount Hera - Arguably the world’s most dangerous supervillain and definitely its most famous, Athena of Mount Hera is an enigmatic figure with an odd relationship to the superheroes of the world. Despite her many, many combat encounters with superheroes and her many, many powers, she is both yet undefeated and yet has to kill any superheroes, seemingly testing them, at least as much as she has said; she has severely injured a couple of heroes while doing, seemingly without remorse given she says “[they]'ve failed this trial”. Various politicians and terrorist groups have been far less lucky, though, as she has been the sole figure and seemingly sole perpetrator of numerous high-profile assassins around the world, chiefly in the Mediterranean. Even more troubling is the fact that seems to have had recent contact with Umiboozu and a rising group of supervillains in Egypt who style themselves after the gods of Egyptian mythology and seem to be trying to revive that religion.

That’s generally as much as anyone knows about the woman who dresses like the typical vision of Athena sans for the smooth, faceless golden mask she wears. Even the exact scope of her powers are rather unknown, though it’s been documented that she has great superhuman strengthen, superhuman speed & reflexes, super senses, great proficiency with at least a sword and spear, seemingly omni-lingual proficiency, control & manipulation of paper and, possibly, at least also flight.

As such, the fact she seems to be getting more active, including having targeted Safeguard every time they’ve added a new member, is most alarming.
(You may now return you eyes to the non-bleeding position if so possible.)

Well if I made a all teen hero team. It would be 3 teen girls who are lesbians, and 1 shemale who fucks them sometimes.
