Crap joystick - input lag

I bought a Madcatz Brawl Stick yesterday to use ST on Fightcade but I’m getting terrible input lag to the point that its pretty much unplayable, near half a second input delay…no use. I thought it was Fightcade to blame… but then I put the Brawl Stick into the PS3 and attempted to play SSF2THDR… and it was near unplayable… so I have been googling and it seems it is this shit joystick that is causing the input lag problem. it is simply un-useable.

Anyone confirm if the TE Fightstick is better for less lag? Or is there another you would recommend?

Please tell me you are not reading Teyah’s BS about this stick…
The Brawl Stick is the same as the SFIV SE. It is really a decent stick.

You are using an emulator (FBA) to play a CPS2 arcade ROM file (ST) online (FightCade). The combo can be a tasty lag sandwich, depending on a number of factors (system power, network connection, et. al.)
You also haven’t specified which display you are using–and if it’s a TV–then chances are it’s got a ton of input lag.

I think you psyched yourself into thinking it was shit on PS3 as well.

Unless you can test another stick on your setup (or test your stick elsewhere), then I say just keep practicing with what you got…before shelling out for new digs.
Like Stephens Stills says:

A half a second is substantial enough that I would argue is not lag from the pcb, but from the driver your computer is using to handle the device. I would make sure you’ve got the appropriate drivers installed. If it’s xinput try anohter xinput stick on the computer and see if it has the same problem.

I get no lag if I use a wireless x360 controller, the game plays perfect. I get no lag on the ps3 with a joypad, but bad lag with the Brawlstick on both ps3 and pc (ps3 is playable for for an amateur, pc lags badly).

I have a jamma cab with ssf2x and other sf’ers on pcb, the is no lag on the arcade cab… so I know exactly how the game should play. This joystick (brawlstick) lags when using with pc and ps3. The pc and ps3 play fine with a joypad with no noticeable lag. It is defo 1000% the joystick is shit…

I note that using the x360 wireless joypad is perfect, so im going to buy a Fightstick with x360 hardware… or even a jpac and modify the stick I have. I have used ggpo with a jpac in the jamma cab before and it was perfect.

The stick is NOT shit. It is merely a scapegoat. I hope the person you sell it to actually appreciates it.

Might be a redundant question, but needs to be asked anyways: Is your LS/DP/RS switch set to DP? If it was set to LS, I could see how there would appear to be lag or ghosting…

If you think a wireless 360 pad is perfect yet I think your judgement is suspect…

The MS Wired and Wireless 360 pad is considered by most the worst D-pad ever.
Forget Fighting games, I had trouble weapon selecting in Modern Warfare 2 because of that D-pad.

Not to mention the numerous other issues it has.

Have people place or won in tournaments with the crappy X360 pad, yes because its about skills not the tools you use.
Same thing goes into input lag. Time and time again the winners of Evo won regardless of how laggy their controller is.
