CPS3 Broken!!!

Options > Default Game Options > Display > checked “Run in a window” and unchecked “Start out maximized”.

Thanks, but I didn’t mean the in-game screen. I mean the main menu that comes up when you start MAME. There’s nothing on the screen except the game names and a few tabs above them showing game information. Ugh, maybe I shouldn’t have chosen to hide all the toolbars and everything else. Really bit me in the ass a few minutes later.

PS. New Generation Dudley = :looney:

Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. Went into the “ini” folder, opened mame32u1 config file and found the right option, changed the 1 to a 0… seemed to work.

Edit2: I just found out something else that maybe people know already. You know how official MAME32 has those scanline and other effects as PNGs in the artwork folder? Well you can copy and paste them into MAME++'s artwork folder and access them through default game options->advanced->visual effects. The odd thing is, they seem to be applied separately from “image enhancement” which were the normal filters. I suppose I’ll mess around with it more. Unfortunately without an image enhancement, it seems kinda blurry regardless of the visual effect.

Has Naomi been emulated already? MvC 2 emulated?

No, Naomi hasn’t been emulated yet.

And now back to the more important topic of scanlines. What settings do you arcade jockeys use? The visual effects method basically just pastes scanlines onto the screen while leaving it blurry as shit, so I tried combining it with Kreed’s Super Eagle and it looks decent, not too overprocessed. Any other ideas?

I’m not understanding how 3S can look so good with scanlines on a 29" arcade monitor, but I can’t even match it on my computer.

I like my settings, but I got negative rep for posting that ^. So yeah, basically I’d recommend fiddling around and sticking with whatever looks best for you cause not everybody has the same tastes.

I highly doubt it.

Several pages back I said the XBox version wouldn’t run at full speed (despite some genius responses that virtual memory would save it) , even on it’s 733MHz CPU. So far all feedback has confirmed that.

Given that the PSP is a 200-300MHz CPU (scalable frequency), and that despite it being an efficient CPU, MAME is still written in high-level C/C++, and is incredibly MHz-limited.

For example, a 2GHz PowerPC gives you roughly the same performance in day-to-day processing as a 3GHz P4 would in your average desktop and/or workstation applications. Yet under MAME, the 3GHz P4 blitzes the 2GHz PowerPC, because again MAME (and most emulators for that matter) are grossly MHz limited due to their CPU-to-CPU, cycle-for-cycle translation of code. Quality of the core processor doesn’t mean a hell of a lot. Even if the PSP was the equivalent of a 600MHz Intel chip in raw FPU performance, that still cuts it way short of an acceptable target for CPS3 emulation.

PS3 and Xbox 360 are fine targets for CPS3 emulators thanks to their main CPU raw clockspeeds. XBox is pushing it. PSP doesn’t stand a chance.

We aren’t talking Donkey Kong here on a 25 year old M68K chip running at 4MHz. SH-3 CPUs are bitches to emulate at the best of times.

Wow. SFIII will never be on PSP, it seems.

sob

not that anyone would be able to play it on a psp, PLUS only 1 player :frowning:

She has a point…you ARE a girl right? I have the impression you are for some reason.

I played Double Upper on PSP and god it was a shitty experience. It’s okay if you get used to it though. I dont know how I could play SFIII on PSP.

If only the D-pad was like dual shock then maybe…

From Speksnk, two new interface shots of CPX3:

The emulator now supports 480i/480p/720p video modes with 4:3 and 16:9 modes and fullscreen stretching.

Not yet but THAT is the next big step!

Like CPS3 it is only a matter of time before it becomes a reality :wonder:

cps3 emulation is truely awesome, it looks really nice on the monitor and close up.
Dream come true.

I honestly have no problem with the PSP’s analog nub, and never played too many fighting games on a Dualshock controller. Also, can’t you just enable the Player 2 controller’s start button, and create a makeshift training mode in this emulator?

Yeah, how is everyone getting the colors to work online? I can play the patched game fine offline, but it says “rom not found” when i try to join or host the game

Sort of random, but seeing as how cps3 will eventually be emulated on next-gen consoles, could the same be said for all other emulators as well?

It depends on the demand and whether there is some energetic emu author or porter around.

For Xbox, we were all very lucky to have Xport around as he has churned out the most emulators for the Xbox and has kept them up-to-date.

Word, I figured these emu authors would be chomping at the bit to move onto next-gen consoles. All the stuff done on the xbox blew my mind, and I am sure they can do it all over again.

Here’s another version of palmod:

http://www.momoshare.com/file.php?file=cb67a046c2c9ff4bb25d9f732c3af4f4

It has a preview and patches mame f(117u1 vc for now). There are bugs in it but I will fix them later. I know that the cfg won’t load correctly and other small bugs I forgot about, but it should work pretty decent. Please let me know of any other bugs you guys find.

YESSSSSSSSS
u the best yo !

We should make a 3s pallet thread.
