i just got a cps2 phoenix board on wednesday and it worked.
and then today…friday…i get a blank screen when i start it up.
there is no bent pins on the A board and i pushed down hard enough that i would
have gotten something on the screen if everything was working?
just curious if anyone know what might be the problem and if i’m SOL on this
board. thanks
A couple things I might try before I gave up on it completely…
1: Try a different B board on your A board to make sure the B board is the real problem or try this B board on a different A board.
2: Check your pins to make sure its not a seating issue or bent pins, I swear my B board comes loose from my A board sometimes for no reason. I’ll play SSF2T today and tomorrow I’ll turn my machine on and nothing. Push down on the board with the power off and power on, back in action.
3: Maybe try cleaning the pins and/or seatings if you can manage, all you need is one bad connection to put a game down.
4: Dust the inside of the boards.
5: Open the B board and see if you see any obvious bad soldiers. When he phoenixes the boards he does a lot of soldiering, it’s possible one wasn’t solid enough and came loose during shipping/insertion. Re-set if needed.
Almost forgot, if your game is not seated right you will get a complete blank screen on startup, the key is you will hear the fan on the CPS2 most likely it’s something wrong on the board, if you don’t hear the fan it’s most likely a seating issue. I can hear as soon as I turn my machine on if it’s seated or not even from the back.
