Remember when people thought tic throwing was considered “cheap” but turtle was okay to do? Well when the turtle player just sat there, you know you just wanted to SPD that shit out of the corner.
Forward in time in HDR, I still see this happening. I swear the next motto for street fighter will be "man up fucker’’. I mean if somebody was using gief, would you switch to the fatman or Sim or stick with your loser Rog hoping you’ll learn from your mistakes?
I vote no. I say bring it on, I can use the practice anyway. The only obvious exception to this is Akuma, but that’s mostly because it happens constantly.
Sometimes it can. A lot of the people I fight online counter pick against me and get destroyed anyway. There are some people on Live though that I know main other people but refuse to use anyone except Honda against me though. That gets on my nerves.
I play Guile and alot of people start picking Blanka and Claw after I win a few matches. I can beat most of them because they have little to no experience with the character and don’t know the matchup. My personal favorites are the Blanka who doesn’t know he can slide under sonic booms and the Vega who thinks wall dives stop Guile dead in his tracks.
Nope. If I ever think that “I really don’t like this matchup” it means I need more practice in it. If your main horribly dies against certain characters, you ether need more practice or a new main.
akuma is the only counter pick that i hate. i wish they left the code to select him in the game so people would have to work to pick him, and probably wouldnt. seeing as how using him to win is lazy in itself…i doubt they would waste the time it takes to get him…and risk messing it up.
i can say this…im REALLY getting sick of Ryus worst matchup. i’ve had it with Vega…FUCK VEGA
Its absolute HELL playing Cammy, but she’s too awesome for me to abandon. Probably the only characters I don’t flinch when facing are Dhalsim and Balrog (Boxer).
Well, I was half-way joking. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s “hell.” I like Cammy, and even her hard matchups I usually enjoy playing (except maybe Honda). I don’t usually even feel that I’m at a disadvantage against most, but that has less to do with the characters and more to do with the players behind them.
As a blanka player with nothing but bad matches, I can swallow most of them. but rog and dj get on my nerves.
the rest of the cast is a hard fight too, but nothing is as brain dead as dj or rog vs. blanka. at least chun/sim/fei/honda have veritable opportunities to make mistakes. rog/dj need to fuck up really really really bad for blanka to even get a remote chance of winning.
that and I still hate turtle honda players. every last fucking one of them. if you think holding db waiting to jab headbutt + throwing out random low strongs and HHS makes this game deep and fun get the fuck out.
I don’t mind counter picking too much, even though the counters to Honda are some of the worst match-ups. I get more tired of just playing against the same characters all the time, just because it gets boring.
I actually do reverse counter-picking a lot when playing online, if I’m playing against a Gief, or Fei, or Cammy I’ll pick someone else a lot just because I know playing against Honda is such a crummy, no-fun match-up for them. Unless I’m playing agianst someone like Jumpsuit, LOL, then I have to bring it to keep up with him, LOL.
The only character I really worry anyone playing is honda. Anyone can win with him (against hawk that is). However, when a REALLY solid DJ or Guile player plays, (bruce, brian)THEN I get worried. Otherwise, I encourage you to try and counter pick me :] .
ive been playing more gief lately, and when my gief just cant hang, i go with my main (honda) since he is the character i know how to use the most. unfortunately, because of his terrible rep, i always get accused for counter picking a “cheap” character lol
I actually have a very difficult time playing good Cammy’s. I find myself clueless as what to do usually. When she starts pressuring you, she does it good. Leaving me with no time to think and thus making me do irrational things.
I feel the same exact way that you do. This game is suppose to be fun right? This may be bad or good, but once I know the scope of the player, I always reverse counter pick because I want to improve on my shitty players. I will never counter pick unless I know the dude is being a straight scrubby dickwad: Akuma lag switching tick throwing turtle.
I’ve always mained eHonda, since CE. But because of reputation, I almost never play him unless it’s a tourney. This is how I got better maining Rog, Gief, and DeeJay. Even now I start to focus outside those 4 with Thawk, Sim, Dic, and Vega. Although this is bad for knowing matchups, it’s fun to switch it up. The only downside now, people think you’re counter picking when randomly picking characters. Sigh…
BTW… LOL… Rane is probably better than Vestax. I spin in the 90’s, so the Vestax05pro II was as almost as standard as the 1200’s. I was a big fan of it probably because of ISP and the turntablism movement. At the time, Rane had only 1 model used in DMC. I just didn’t like how it wasn’t as reliable and lacked some features. I’m pretty sure Rane is now one of the best today. I’ve been out of it for so long that I’m pretty amazed at new shit nowadays…(Serrato). I have way too many money pit hobbies… sigh.
