Cosmic marvel fans unite

Thanos Quest was awesome lead up to the…
Infinity Gauntlet which was top tier. =P
Infinity War was OK…
Infinity Crusade had me geh-ing just looking at the covers (never picked it up).

Ron Lim Surfer comics were bad ass. I remember this one issue with some purple dude with a derby hat, cape and round mirror plates on his hands and Lim drew the most kick ass jump kick I had ever seen up to that point.

You’ve got to love Marvel’s Cosmic Jesus. =P
Thanos is also pretty bad ass. They made him pretty lame in the cartoon back in the late 90’s. Made him sound too loony rather than calculating and coniving. =\

I know, man. That was a great issue. I think that was #60 and it was the first issue after all those summer Infinity Gauntlet tie-ins. That purple guy’s name was Midnight, or Midnight Sun. I looked him up a while ago. Apparently he started out as some obscure villain for The Deadly Hands Of Shang-Chi, Master Of Kung-Fu.

Now, how you go from fighting The Deadly Hands Of Shang-Chi, Master Of Kung-Fu to fighting the Silver Surfer on the moon to teaming up with the Inhumans is beyond me. Someone needs to bring this dude back.

Man Fox messes up everything. Couldn’t have Thanos in love with Death because they didn’t want to scare the kiddies so they made him in love with a BS Lady Chaos statue in the Silver Surfer cartoon.

I hate phalanx. I kind of liked the design they used when xmen saved the shiar but they always find ways to make specials with them boring.

Eh… Fox I felt was pretty spot on with the X-Men voice actors. Cyke, Wolverine, Gambit, Jean, Prof X, Magneto, Storm, Rogue and Beast all sounded like I would have imagined them.

I could deal with Chaos. It’s a kid’s cartoon… but with the Jack Kirby-ish art direction and the fact that it was Silver Surfer~!!! Man… it let me down that they’d totally screw up Thanos’s character AND voice actor. He sounds like he’s aping freaking Caesor Romero’s take on the Joker from the 60’s Batman TV show. =\

Thanos is the epitome of calculating assholes. He should have sounded more like Destro from G.I. Joe.

Man! Someone needs to bring RON LIM back while they’re at it.

I agree. It’s just that Fox has a history of making things even more kid friendly when it isn’t necessary.

They didn’t allow X-Men to use the Brood because they were to scary so they used “The Colony.” They didn’t want Nightcrawler scaring the kiddies so they turned Kurt Wagner into the Pope, come on now he’s not THAT religous… at least not at that time this was all prior to the Claremont Nightcrawler’s a priest arc…

Batman TAS had lots of stuff to deal with when they were on Fox too. They didn’t allow them to use the young Robin because they didn’t want to see children in danger so they used teen Robin. The WB didn’t have a hang up over that so they later got to use Tim Drake. Dini and Timm had a way of making a lot of the restrictions work for them like Fox later on wanting them to include Robin in every episode against their wishes. Marvel toons, not so much… arguably X-Men is a lot harder than Batman to do given the subject matter at times…

I dunno… my biggest issue with the Silver Surfer cartoon outside of Thanos/Chaos was removing the Fantastic Four from SS’s origin story. BLASPHEMY!

Hearing SS constantly whine about “My Shalabal” over and over AND OVER again was a hoot though. Homeboy was WHOOPED. :looney:

I also found it hella funny how it was only one season and it ended on a cliffhanger. The 90s Avengers cartoon did the same, so did MTV Spider-Man. Whoa Marvel toons are done by a bunch of confident sons of a bitches who thinks their cartoons will get renewed no problem so it’s okay to end things with a cliffhanger because these toons will most def return and things won’t be left up in limbo… :wasted:

Yep, another one of my favorites from that #50-#75 era.

I also loved the 2-parter guest starring captain marvel where he went to the land of the dead

I actually even collected Dr. Strange during that period, although I dont really know why.

When Infinity Gauntlet originally came out I didnt understand the concept that there would be an “Infinity Gauntlet” series consisting of 6 issues and then a multitude of “An IG Crossover” books. I thought buying IG #1, Silver Surfer #51 and Doc Strange #? would give me the entire story in that one week  …I ended up shelling out a crapload for all of those IG spinoff issues.

Yea I just picked up the HC trade, dont feel like looking for the single issues in this mess here, Ill be reading it thruout the week to get up to date, but I doubt I’ll be happy cuz of what happens :razzy:

Im in awe for annihilation. I just hope conquest is as good, i have really high hopes for starlord. Nova is promising but quasars realtionship with moondragon is well sleazy. I didnt know lesbians practiced petting this often.
THIS IS FOR NOVA CORPS is the splash of the year.(my current wallpaper)
page of the year is ronan smashing his hammer across ravenous face GUILTY
Oh i wish someone made a ronan ace wright spoof.

Difoj, Nothing stays dead in the marvel universe. Expect a cheesy comeback in 2-3 years a la marvel.

BTW if Antiphon the overseer was imprisoned in the Kyln how did the watchers appear?
Also since beyonders mortal husk is dead they can bring back he/she/it.

Really need to drink less coffee

And I’ll bet Warlock’s not in it, despite the fact that he’s probably second only to Dr. Strange when it comes to the mystic arts. Booooooooooooooooooooo!

I need to pick up this crossover though. What issues have come out related to it?

Warlock’s not in it lol! I think only the Magik issue has come out so far.

ROM The Space Knight should have an all RON LIM comic book, sells would be through the roof lol.

Cosmic Marvel is my second favorite place, only beaten by the Ultimates universe. During a summer of crappy hero Vs. Hero battles it was really refreshing to see the classic good vs. evil motif used so well in Annihilation. All the tie-in comics were amazing, my favorite’s being Super Skrull and Silver Surfer. I haven’t finished it just yet due to lack of finding it but soon I will get them all, getting a good deal on a bundle.

Cosmic Marvel has a lot of potential if Marvel doesn’t do something stupid to screw it up. This Magick arc coming out has potential as well, I’d like to see GR in it honestly, his new comic blows major chunks and he needs to be redeemed.

My guesses for villains would be Dormammu, Shuma-Gorath (Super Skrull was fading fast and he was revitalized, no reason not to do so again), Mordred/Morgan Le Fey, Baron Mordo and Doctor Druid. Mephistor and/or Blackheart could be possible’s.

They need to bring the Midnight Sons back. Midnight Massacre is one of my all-time favs.

Shuma-Gorath has so few comic book appearances it’s not even funny. In the end I think he is WAY too powerful and writers don’t know how to deal with him. His appearance involves Dr. Strange having a crazy fight to hold him down and send him back to his dimension, wash, rinse, repeat a few times except for when Shuma-Gorath faced Conan the Barbarian and Crom. His story arcs involve 20 issues talking about him, 2 issues of him showing up.

Anyway, with Kulan Gath who tried to awaken Shuma-Gorath before appearing in the new Spider-Man / Red Sonja crossover (second time they’ve met and Spidey went up against Kulan Gath twice when Marvel owned Red Sonja) I hope Shuma-Gorath gets some kind of cameo. I E-mailed Oeming, the writer about it so here’s hoping…

Oeming said before that there would by Hyborian (Conan times) styled Spider-Man villains in the issue so I suggested Shuma-Gorathopus, a freaky combination of Doctor Octopus and Shuma-Gorath, Doc Ock with Shuma-Gorath for a chest HA HA! Hell if he uses that idea I will so not sue and will be 10 issues but FAT CHANCE WRITERS DON’T LISTEN TO INSANE FANBOYS! :looney:

Blackheart… I don’t read Ghost Rider but isn’t he STILL trapped in the Hellfire Club’s basement where he’s been since the Fantastic Four Annual of 1999? At least there was some kind of… I dunno version of him in the Ghost Rider movie and he does show up in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Shuma he’s winning! :wow:

You know, I’m starting to get the feeling that Joe Quesada is not playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2…

I hardly know much on Blackheart, it’s quite possible he’s stuck in a box somewhere in the Hellfire Club. But if someone breaks him out, that’s a different matter. It was weird to see Shuma in MvC2 and the other one (MSH’s I think) Maybe Capcom are big fan boy’s of Cthulhu rips lol. With the recent GR movie and Emoheart I’m sure BH could play some part, but still, I’m not the writer.

Midnight Sons was always one of my favorite groups, but it never really worked. Could have been just the time period, I’d love to see a return of them. Johnny Blaze with the Hellfire Shotgun was just badass, it was odd to see Morbius and the Nightstalkers as well, could make good friction if a new series ever launched. Little known fact was Blaze and Ketch formed the group, the majority of people think Strange put the team together. I served my educational purpose today lol.

In super skrull 2 page 20 top right there is a design i recognise but i can’t remember from where.
Also about the galactus heralds, what happened to nova(frankie raye) and destroyer? Who the hell is red shift ?

Nova was killed by Morg and the Destroyer Armor was taken by Loki. I don’t remember when red-shift came into play at all.

Thanks. By the way when was terrax revived? Wasn’t he killed by silver surfer and before that stripped of the power cosmic?

Could have been but he was bouncing around the back of the Marvel universe for a while. Sentry beat his ass in the last mini, I believe and then he was back in Annihilation. Funny thing there, Morg got revived in Annihilation as well, just to get killed off by Annihilius. Those silly heralds, always coming back from the dead.

Adam Warlock (the gold one) might appear in Annihiation: Conquest yet, there are still a bunch of issues to go and a mysterious savior waiting to be found.
