I really like the minimalism, honestly. I think it looks nice and clean; it’s much better than SFIV’s UI. As for the bolded text, I think that’s the point they’re trying to make. Bringing the series closer to its roots.
>>Special intro/outros. Adds a lot to the depth of the relationship between the characters. And I’m sure (in light of the result of the poll I made a few months back) most everyone loves some interaction between their favorite characters.
THIS! Please good god, this. It was easily my favorite part of older games and is sorely missing from IV.
Perhaps voices can go in here too. I don’t like how after Ryu(maybe others too) does his CA, he has already recovered and he’s still saying his “Hadoooookeeeeeen”. The sound just doesn’t match the recovery. The long hadoken makes it sound like it was a lot of work for Ryu, but it wasn’t.
Look at older games like Alpha series. The voices coincide perfectly with the animations.
Above all else for me is special intro’s and outro’s and rival fights. Even non-rival story fights. Like there’s a story mode that’s different for every character and has a bunch of dialogue explaining their story with the other fighters. Like what BB did.
The cinematic camera angles aren’t doing SF any favors in that regard.
Looking at the PC mod that removed the cinematic camera on supers and it looks so much better. Discounting where the animators obviously used the cuts to cheat and not animate some of it.
What people need to consider is that modern design trends are going towards minimalism. It’s one of the tenets of the so called school of Flat Design.
All the flashy, skeuomorphic designs you’d see in the past; interfaces with more shape, texture, and volume, are now considered old fashioned and obsolete.
If by empty you mean no shitty looking people then yes I agree.
I prefer stages where the only things animating are natural phenomenon like lightning, trees, wind effects, water movements, etc. KI has some of the best stages I’ve ever seen in a fighting game, and even though I don’t really play it, I think it is on the cutting edge right now and leading the pack.
-They should change the waterfall background for just get rid of it, its’ weird looking and look like it made for 3DS.
I miss old school SF stages. Karin’s new stage is the first hint of anything approaching a good stage in forever.
-They should also change some of the character portrait like Ken and Vega.
-Also they should add everyone’s favroite: Post-KO hits!
Oh, yes! They said it messed up with the data sent to the server if you do anything after winning a match, but this is a brand new game and they could find a workaround for that!
I think shitty people are the worst. It’s jarring to see the nice character models and then see those sloth looking mother fuckers in the back. I want to see more stages like Thunder’s in Killer Instinct.
Also by empty I mean no extra characters. I love stages where it’s just the environment and the fighters. Makes the fight seem more epic in my opinion. Maybe a animal or 2 would be cool though.
I’d like the specific character interactions before rounds. But, I think they should do away with the cutscenes they use now. I’d prefer to have the camera in the usual fullscreen position. Have both characters walk on together at the same time for the fight intro. Make it around 5secs. I just skip the current cutscene style intros.
Should really be changing the colour of the alt’s shirt and socks too. At least make it a different tone of white. I noticed Necalli’s alt is far too similar as well.
Another small idea that i’ve thought of - we now have stages where you can burst through walls etc, so perhaps make it so you can decide in which area of the stage the match starts, along with maybe adding night/day options. Just a thought.
