Rodney King deserved to get his ass whooped…
"…chase the speeding car at speeds of up to 117 miles per hour. King ignored the flashing lights and sped off an exit ramp. He ran a red light, nearly causing an accident, before finally coming to a stop near the entrance to Hansen Dam Park, at the intersection of Osborne Street and Foothill Boulevard."
“Tim Singer ordered the occupants of the Hyundai to leave the vehicle and lie face down on the ground. Allen and Helms complied, but King remained in the car. Melanie Singer again shouted at King to get out, which he did. Singer described King as “smiling” as he stood by his car and waved at the police helicopter overhead. As Singer ordered King to get his hands where she could see them, King–according to Singer’s testimony–“grabbed his right buttock with his right hand and he shook it at me.””
“In 1993, he entered an alcohol rehabilitation program and was placed on probation after crashing his vehicle into a block wall in downtown Los Angeles. In July 1995, he was arrested by Alhambra police, who alleged that he hit his wife with his car, knocking her to the ground. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail after being convicted of hit and run.On August 27, 2003, King was arrested again for speeding and running a red light while under the influence of alcohol. He failed to yield to police officers and slammed his vehicle into a house, breaking his pelvis.”
He’s lucky he didn’t get his ass whooped when they had to repeat for him to get out of the car… Rodney King put a ton of people’s lives in danger… he deserved each and every last bit of what he got imo… there are way more stories of police brutality than that where the person involved was not at fault but every pulls Rodney King out of their asses…
man, Rodney King probably deserved a whack or two, to calm him down or keep him from resisting arrest (not a racial thing, I hope to God I don’t offend…cops should be allowed to use SOME force), but once he was down, did they really need to hit him bad enough to give him 11 skull fractures, brain damage, and several broken bones? 56 times they whomped him. Dont try to argue that isn’t excessive force.
But regardless, in a society where it becomes a cops word versus a citizens word, why shouldn’t people be allowed to film cops, in order to ensure they do their jobs properly? I can understand a cop thinking a camera is a gun, and pulling a gun on a potential suspect. Hell, I can even understand an accidental shooting. But destroying evidence?
Turn off Judge Dredd, motherfucker. Since when have cops ever been there to give people what they “deserve”? It is their job to keep people and themseves safe while bringing offenders to court to face judgement. Ego does not factor into it and people like you are the reason police think that they have a right to defend their egos and pride with brute force.
