first of all, the city and community had asked the police to deal with the jaywalkers.
second, this isn’t like one or two random people jaywalking, this is large groups of people who literally do NOT care wtf is on the street.
third, when asked to stop, the one girl (who was getting cuffed later) KEPT GOING ON and ignoring the officer. I don’t care if a cop is yelling at you for littering, you STOP when they ask you to.
fourth, when the ignorant chick goes nuts, the cop starts cuffing her, and she starts fighting the cop
fifth, the OTHER chick now starts ATTACKING the cop.
sixth, a crowd is now surrounding the cops, comprised mostly of the two girls friends. Said gang begins to cheer the girls on, and FILM the event.
seriously, he punched her ONCE, after shit got escalated BY THEM, to defend himself and keep her off of him.

Using a tazer has a chance to kill someone. You’re flooding their nervous system with electricity. If he did that he would be getting the same crap but potentially worse. Pepper spray/mace is way more painful than what he did, a single punch to the face. Its not like he ground and pounded her for a shot at the title… >_>
She didn’t even have a bloody nose or any injury, just temporary (and probably non severe pain) stun from the shock of being punched. She was perfectly fine after it, as clearly seen in the video.
gatta disagree. Like i said earlier Tazor is the best. Sure there is a SMALL chance they could die. But if they do, its the Tazors fault, NOT the cops. He will go to court to tell the judge he had no intention to harm anyone. And at worse they will rethink Tazor policy, but the cop will get off for sure.
With a punch you end up in court with a picture of a girls bloody nose and Dr’s note of “Trama” to the victom. Not good for the cop.
Here, sure there was a WEAK ASS punch. But cops know people will often hurt themselves after the fact, and then blame it on the cop. (ie Bang their head against the wall and then go see a dr and a lawyer.)
But after a Tazoring, they cant somehow shock themselves even more. Tazors get the best results with (proven statistics of) least risk of injury. One Taze and they are down ready to be cuffed.

i just look at the fact its a NON cop attacking a COP. I don’t care if its a dude, a chick, a midget, or a fucking leopard on fire, if it attacks a cop, I damn well expect the police to fight back. He didn’t Rodney King her ass, he didn’t taze (and subsequently kill) her, he didn’t mace her, and he didn’t use any bad language. He simply hit back at a force that was assaulting him. There are no underlying tones to this, and people need to stop reading into it. If a cop tells you to stop, you do, and if you attack him/her, you damn well should expect a LITTLE pain in your immediate future

If he was actually protecting us I wouldn’t have a problem with it, but it was JAYWALKING. This guy is a glorified city fund raiser, not a protector of the citizens. He wasn’t stopping them for being violent, carrying weapons or selling drugs. He’s sitting on a god damn street corner giving people chicken shit tickets.

man, just read the last few pages. The city/community asked for the RAMPANT jaywalking (this wasn’t one or two people running through a crosswalk, this is large groups of people who just walk through the street like its their backyard) to be dealt with.
And the crime doesn’t matter. Cop asks you to stop, you stop. You don’t continue on your day as if they didn’t exist. Next time a cop tries to pull you over, how about you just keep driving and ignoring them, then after 12 cars join the chase and run you off the road, try telling them they’re just city fund raisers.
