Hey guys! I’m one of the TOs for Cool Desert Fights, coming up this Saturday in Richland, WA. We’ll be holding MKX, UMvC3, and Ultra.

Location: Sunken Treasures - Uptown Shopping Center, 1341B George Washington Way, Richland, WA 99354.

Times:

  • Registration: 12:00 PM
  • MKX on PS4: 1:30 PM
  • UMvC on Xbox360: 3:30 PM
  • Ultra on Xbox360: 5:30 PM

There will also be a 4v4 Marvel team exhibition at a currently unspecified time.

General rules:

  • $5 for each game you’re entering.
  • Bring your own controller; controllers will not be provided. However, most of the guys are nice enough to let you borrow one of theirs if you need to.
  • No interference from anybody during matches. If you are found to be doing this you will be asked to leave.
  • Try to stay in the area or let one of the TOs know if you leave.
  • Report your match result to one of the TOs.
  • All tournaments are double elimination. This means that you are out of the tournament when you lose 2 sets.
  • Payout:
    • 1st get 70% of the pot
    • 2nd gets 20% of the pot
    • 3rd gets 10% of the pot.
  • It’s okay to get hype and excited but remember to be respectful and mindful of the people in the tournament and in the store in general.
  • Listen to store owners. If they ask something of you please respect what they ask and be a good guest.
  • Pick up your trash if you bring any.

Game-specific rules:

  • MKX:

    • Games will be best two out of three.
    • Time will be set to default.
    • All characters are allowed.
    • If the players don’t agree on a stage then the stage will be randomized.
    • If the game is paused during the match, the player that did not pause can choose to continue or take the game.
    • The loser of each game can switch characters, but the winner must stay.

  • UMvC3:

    • Games will be best three out of five. Grand finals will be best four out of seven.
    • Timer will be set to default.
    • Needless to say, Galactus is banned.
    • Auto jump will be turned off.
    • No game-breaking glitches.
    • The loser of each game can change characters, but the winner must stay.
    • If game is paused the player that did not pause can choose to continue playing or take the game.

  • Ultra:

    • Games will be best two out of three. Top four will be best three out of five.
    • Two rounds per game.
    • All stages and all characters are allowed.
    • Edition select is not allowed.
    • The loser of each game is allowed to change characters, but the winner must stay. However, the winner can change their Ultra Combo if the loser does change characters.
    • If the game is paused the player that did not pause can choose weather to keep playing or take the game.

Any changes, rules or otherwise, will be announced on the day of the tournament.

We’re looking forward to the tournament. We’re already expecting a relatively large turnout for our area.
