Converter Compatibility Thread

Tempting, but one of the selling points of the Innovation, for me, was the Saturn controller support as well.

btw, I got my RJ45 modded MC Cthulhu in the mail from Bomberman today and finished assembling my TE stick with PS1/PS2/PS3/GC/Wii support and sadly my Innovation doesn’t support the MC Cthulhu ; ;

I’m pretty sure he ships to anywhere on Earth and also unincorporated parts of mars and the moon. But, you’d get a quicker response from laugh if you asked him in his thread

Yeah, toodles was asking if anyone wanted to loan him an innovation converter so he could figure out what was the problem and make the “newer” innovation converters compatible with the MC Cthulhu.

Yeah that saturn support was a big selling point for me too :lovin: The thing the TCP has over the innovation is remapping of the triggers with a switch on the box and MC Cthulhu support :looney: Also, I can’t use my saturn twin sticks with the innovation, gotta use that expensive ass total control saturn->DC converter. If only the innovation converter did it all…

Holy crap. I can’t believe I went through all 141 pages of both threads and still have something to contribute. If anyone else asks for something obviously stupid, like something about a PS3->360 adapter…:chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw:

This is taking a trip back to the beginning of the old thread, but anyone who got crappy converters from Yellow Oasis and wants revenge can go pay them a visit in person. They run a store in Columbus, OH called Yo! Games on Kenny Road. Be sure to check out the awesome deals on 2000 yen reprint games, for only $40 and up. They can also order “anything” from Japan, as long as your definition of anything does not include anything made by Sanwa, Seimitsu, is a “limited edition” game worth the money, out of print, looks like it might be going out of print or is a Hori product cooler than an HRAP2. For the price of an HRAP2:SA.

They sell a PS2->Xbox adapter that’s so generic I can’t even identify it with all the pictures in the threads. It was 10 bucks in the store about 6 months ago (probably .05 plus $9.95 shipping online), and only works with PS2 dual shocks. It doesn’t recognize the joysticks in a T5 or HRAP2. The buttons, however, are lagless. There’s nothing on it or the packaging identifying what it is other than “Playstation 2 Xbox Convertor” on lime green cardboard. When in doubt, run.

The Gamemon adapter sold at Walmart is perfect with first party controllers, but does have some issues. MAME doesn’t recognize anything from it, the Pelican Universal Real Arcade Pro only works on the Gamecube plug and Windows recognizes the joysticks in the HRAP2 and T5 as View Switch instead of the X/Y axis. It’s a problem with a lot of emulators that don’t recognize the View Switch input. If you have the XBCD drivers installed the Xbox plug won’t work either. At least mine stopped working when I installed them.

I have the Tototek PS2->Saturn adapter and its layout is crap with any joystick. It maps it like you were really did buy it to use “your lovely dual shock 2” on the Saturn. It’s something like this:

Top of DS:
L R
Y Z

Face of DS:
X
A C
B

You end up with the PSX layout for Capcom fighters, like you’d really want to recreate the experience of XvSF PSX on the Saturn. If you’re only playing fighting games you can remap it’s fine. For platformers and shmups, it’s a shitload of fuck worth its own AVGN video. After playing with a real Saturn controller to really get the rage level up.

TCP is lagless with Twin Sticks. It’s just a tease though. The more you play with the Saturn sticks the more you want to spend $220+ on Sanwa JLJs. Plus another set if you want to play the PS2 version, since no one is cool enough to make an adapter.

I PM’d Toodles last night, I’ll lend my Innovation to him for study if he hasn’t had anyone do it already.

Also, has anybody tested any of the Tototek PS2 -> Saturn/SNES/NES converters with the MC Cthulhu? I want to dust off some classic systems and use my stick with them.

Cool! Hopefully it’s a problem he can fix! I’ve got a tototek PS2->Saturn converter I’ll try out with the MC Cthulhu PSX

I want to use my PS3 TE stick on older consoles. Is a PS3–>PS2 adapter available? Is it possible?

Read the first post in this thread.

Man, a Namco stick on the 360. Thank you! Laugh, I still have a busted InPin I keep forgetting to give you. And if I knew you went to EVO, I would have brought it!

Is it crazy talk to just buy one of these converters and build a custom stick for the PS2 instead of making the extra effort to hack a 360 pad?

No because the PS2 is a great base for the current gen systems. By having a PS2 stick, you can have a stick that will play for PS3, 360, and Wii

Was there ever a PS1/PS2 -> N64 converter?

I’m wanting to pick up Killer Instinct Gold, and would rather not play on the N64 controller if at all possible.

emulation is your best bet get either the arcade killer instinct 1 or 2 or download the n64 emu and just play killer gold instead pc converters are like less than maybe 8 us dollars or 4 british pounds

Or get a padhack of an N64 controller, and throw it into a joystick

^ You ever test that Tototek PS -> Saturn converter with the MC Cthulhu, Truck?

Eh, I’m too lazy to do that with an N64 controller for just one game - my TE is already kinda cramped inside as-is.

Project box stick to the rescue! I’ve seen some PS to N64 converters before but I’ve yet to get my hands on one. I’ve also read that ToToTEK used to make one back in the day. As best I know there aren’t any decent N64 sticks.

there is one but its shocking there isnt many fighters out on n64 anyway mortal kombat and killer instinct there not too high quality fighters if you ask me

Not one capcom fighter on N64 :frowning:

Weird how on SNES capcom was making mad games for Nintendo systems.

But with N64 not one Street Fighter Game!

I had to play Alpha 2 on SNES!

Gamecube only had Snk Vs Capcom 2.

Glad this gen I have all 3 consoles and not just the Ninty console.

But Mortal Komabat Trilogy and MK4 were fun, so was Killer Instinct Gold (2).

Oh right, thanks for reminding me, I’ll go test that out rigt now :sweat:

:party:ToToTeK PS2->Saturn Converter is compatible with MC Cthulhu! :party:

But it is weird button mapping, not a big deal for fighting games, just redo button config. Here’s how it comes out by default:

Saturn->PSX
x -> /\ (triangle)
Y -> L1
Z -> R1
A -> [] (square)
B -> X
C -> O
L Shoulder -> L2
R Shoulder -> R2

No noticeable lag

How do you activate the gems in marvel super heroes?

Thanks, Truck! I’m going to go ahead and order that converter now along with a PS -> SNES, hopefully it works as well.

No idea about MSH, I spent maybe $1 tops in the arcade on the one machine I ever saw years ago.
