Converter Compatibility Thread

i’ll try it next time i get on the 360.

Hmm I noticed what looks like the HAIS convertor on dealextreme for a few bucks cheaper than the other sku. Wonder if its the same thing…

Sure thing sir. I wasn’t on the boards much when these came out so I’m still playing catch up. Reload it and see if you want anything else added. The whole point of this thread was to eliminate repetitive questions.

You’re in luck shinobix23. This is actually one of the things that MarkMan tries in his converter trials so once his review comes out, you’ll not only have confirmation as to whether you can do this consistently, you’ll also have lag input calculations and everything else you might want to know.

I finished my review of the XConverter360!

NOTE: This is more of a generic review! If you are looking for superb lag testing with various precise and difficult combo’s, I recommend waiting for Markman’s soon to be released review here.

***"The XConverter360 is an innovative and new converter sold in Korea for fans of Playstation 2 controllers and arcade sticks that would like to see them playable on the XBOX 360. Made possible by the user “laugh” at the popular fighting game fan website, Shoryuken, he sells them each for $23 USD. When I saw his original post in their popular Converter Compatibility Thread, I immediately contacted him to be one of the first to review the converter.

First off, many fighting game fans like myself have been looking for a way to use our dusty PS2 (Hori anyone?) arcade sticks on the 360. The XConverter360 also allows you to hook up your PS2 controllers to the PC, while being recognized as a wired XBOX 360 Gamepad, which is great for emulators and whatnot. Now, with the release of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and King of Fighters XII this summer, the XBOX 360 gamepad will no longer suffice for professional gamers. The popular Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition arcade stick may be a great solution, but is very expensive for gamers who have already paid over a $100 for an arcade stick made for another gaming console. This is when the JOYTRON XConverter360 for $23 USD becomes an affordable and cheap solution if you previously purchased a Playstation 2 arcade stick."***

Thanks to “laugh” for providing me with the product for review and his support with my questions during the process.

Hi, I am new here, and def. need that thingy…

Oh my GOD!! :wow:

I don’t believe it; GameCop, you and your buds at 1Emulation.com made that review for the Hori Real Arcade Pro 2 SA? My friend, your review was THE definitive review to me. It was the review which finalized what arcade stick I would purchase as my first foray into the arcade stick world. You don’t even understand how much I’d like to thank you in person!

Anyways, sorry about the derailing. That is an extremely nice review you have up there! I’m still waiting for MarkMan’s lag test, but seriously, I can’t see how I can go wrong. It’s made by the Koreans, laugh is confident enough to sell it, and now the site which brought me my HRAP2SA is giving it the thumbs up as well.

It should be compatible, I’ve had no trouble using the TCP with SFAC PCB’s. Are you buying at a local store in socal? What store?

thanks dood! Like laugh said, the xconverter has a guide button on it, but the blazepro does not have a guide button on it. Also, the Xconverter has a switch to convert to steering wheel mode, the blazepro doesn’t do that either

And there was me thinking mine was sexy :rofl::rofl:

Blazepro has a dance mat mode does the Xconverter?

Roll your own converter? How is that wired?

weren’t you TL? O_O

You sold it to my brother, kainzero. I’m pretty sure he has PMs from you in his inbox. I just posted the issue for him since he’s a working man, heh. The pins are the correct length and nothing happens when I plug it to either PS3 or PC using a DS2 or HRAP. I’ll tell him to contact you about it. Thanks!

I bought a PS2 to USB adapter many years ago for a WIn 98 PC. A driver was never released for XP.

The company that made it has now gone out of business.

The Soyo KiKi joy is what it’s called.

Just for giggles I thought I’d try it in a PS3.

Lo and behold, it works! Unfortunately it has HUGE LAG, making it unusable :frowning:

Any way here is what it looks like, except mine was blue.

Its just a Blazepro and a 360 PCB with the USB cord shortened to 1"
the wires you see are from where the pad was hacked (joytech neo se) i ended up returning my stick back to a dual shock PCB for better compatability, and to be honest it feels like it works better with the Blazepro than the joytech.

I’m not a fan of the birds nest piggyback setups create so this seemed the simplest solution to reduce some cabling.

for those that missed the other thread heres the MK1

will that work with the t5 kyle? i pmed you as well

???

I think markman is test it or something similar in VF. If you have seen his other reivew, they seem to test things pretty thoroughly

Ah okay, it’s basically the converter and a pad in a project box. I was thinking you did something crazy elaborate.

Not sure on this one. Hopefully someone will know. The only Dreamcast converter I own is the Innovation. I don’t play it often enough to care to buy the others.

Just wanted to throw this in (since the original post is kinda vague on it), my SFAC with a 3.5V PCB works with my Inpin. I’ll check to see if the Xconverter works as well later this week (I don’t have my own 360).

Mine did so yours should as well. Thanks for the InPin report. I added it to the OP.
