Controlling Detonation of Shocking Pink

I’ve been doing some testing in Ultimate, and the detonators remain unchanged. The “new feature” is still the same bug from penultimate. It even still explodes when you pause. You can no longer link a bomb after a Godhand though. It looks like the Godhand was changed so that nothing can hit after it. Once you hit with Godhand, your combo is OVER. I tried a bunch of stuff, and (unless I’m just incredibly bad) here’s how it changed: You can’t DHC on its first frame anymore. You can’t link snapback after it anymore. A perfectly timed bomb that hits Joe afterward (and counts toward the combo) will not hit the opponent. You still can’t X-Factor it.
One new trick with detonators involves the dodge. You can stand over the bomb, so that it looks like setting it off would hit you (and therefore would be unlikely for you to do), but then you dodge and detonate, passing right through the explosion. Not the greatest use ever, but it’s something.
Oh, and you can still bounce the bomb on your foot for as long as you like.

Well then what does the no juggle change mean?

I still have no idea.

at this point i just wanted them to get rid of the bomb, for me its just not a good tool

  2. it hits u ( why doesnt chris or deadpools grenade hit them then?
  3. its too situtional to use in a combo, feels like i have to ask my opponent to stay still so that i can do some cool shit to them :tdown:

I had bomb combos that were practical and I did them often in MvC3 (with Joe on point mind you). Don’t have Ultimate yet but I’m hoping i can still do them.

In short, I want bombs to stay.

Bombs are the exact same as Vanilla, you just can’t use them to extend a slow combo, as said above.

Seeing as how I only did that in training mode, no problem with me.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I’d let everyone know, you can switch which button you are charging the bomb with. So, if you want to hold the light bomb, you can do qcb+L,charge fierce punch, then while holding down fierce punch, hold light then release fierce, now you are charging light bomb with light punch and you avoided the foot bounce…good if you want the instant detonation and the slide still. That’s all, small querky mechanic, thx for this thread.

Is this something legit to use in the neutral game or is it more of a gimmick? Seems like a cool way to add extra crap on the screen but the fact you have to hold down a button could be a hindrance.

Anyone find any combos into God Hand with a charged Bomb and then a short combo afterwards into a hard tag setup? I’m thinking something like using Frank’s shopping cart to setup the bomb and combo into the super and then hard tagging to him for a shopping cart and therefore level up.

Just thought of something. Possibly using the cart to cover the bomb and then doing the God Hand super, letting the bomb explode and then just raw tagging?

There is a lot of practical stuff to do with this, but it just depends on whether you have the assists/DHCs to actually get the practical shit.
