Controller question

Hi guys. It’ll be my first Evo this year, and I just had a question about controllers.

I typically use a standard 1st party xbox pad. It’s the wireless type, but I have a charge kit and typically just use the charge wire to play. If I don’t use the battery pack, it’s basically a wired controller with a removable cable. I know wireless controllers are banned at Evo, but I didn’t think this would be a problem since it doesn’t work unless I plug it into an xbox.

So I registered, booked my hotel, and was reading through the Evo rules when I came across this:

“Removing the battery or otherwise disabling these controllers is NOT OK. You may not use these controllers under any circumstances.”

Is my controller not allowed then? It’s not really a big deal if it isn’t, as I have time to buy and break in a wired controller if need be, but I just wanted to double check before I made an extra purchase I didn’t need.

Yeah, I was a bit confused about that too. I don’t think it was allowed for the 360 games.

However, wasn’t that setup allowed with the Xbox One for Killer Instinct last year? I was planning on doing that for this year. Will XBone controllers with cables and no batteries be allowed for KI again, or will we all need to get new controllers?
