I can’t seem to exploit this besides for Todo. I can’t find anyone discussing this either. So I’d like to pose a question. I notice that during a CC, if you throw a projectile move and do a move before/as it hits the opponent, you can cancel your move into another one as if your second move connected.
Set this up with Ryu. Go into Custom, and Do an Uppercut. You can’t cancel that into a hurricane kick before you land.
But now, throw a slow fireball, and then do an uppercut. When and/or after the fireball connects, blocked or unblocked, the Shoryuken is treated as if it ‘connected’, and can be cancelled into a hurricane kick from out of nowhere. The program treats it as if your move connected.
now like I said, so far I can only exploit this for Todo. Can someone try out the rest and see what we can do for them? Obviously it’s going to be only for characters with Projectile moves, but he would need something that could help in continuing the CC…
I’ve tried joe and king because they have double fireballs, but nothing spectacular for them both. They still can’t do much with it. Most of the other Fireball characters just travel greater distances with it, but that’s all…
3/4 Screen away opponent cornered. Throw a slow sonic boom, Then Mash your F.HK. He wil travel forward and cancel his HK into another One, connecting it as a 2 hit. You can also throw a Sonic Boom first THEN Activate, and tap the kick twice and still reach the opponent in time
Well, i guess the only useful thing about this is that it let’s some of the characters do some cute CW moves.e.g. Throw a Fireball from far for Ryo, then do his reverse DP move, when the fireball connects, throw an air fireball. Or cancelling a Zanretsu Ken halfway into another (which is impossible to do any other way).
Useless, but cute. Maybe I’ll do an exhibition vid on this.
I won’t give up finding something useful tho…
Throw a fireball full screen and activate CC, (or Activate then throw a fireball), Once the fireball leaves your hand, do HCB+K, and before it hits the opponent, Cancel it into Scum Gale.
You have just comboed his fireball into a Scum gale from Full screen.
You know what this means? If you purposely run later, even if the opponent blocks the fireball, you can cancel your Running Grab, into anything, at anytime. Even a roll. So i could throw a fireball, wait until before it connects and do my running grab, the opponent blocks the fireball, and gets out of block stun just as i reach him, he continues blocking, thinking i would just bounce off him, but i cancel into a Scum Gale! It connects!

Edit : Oh you were talking about his projectile cancel section? Is there more to it? I wanna know if other characters can exploit this besides those that I went and experimented.
I may have beat the thing to death, but there’s still a lot more that can be done with it i think. CvS2 is a very flexible engine with a huge cast of very diverse characters. But i’m not gonna explore this further so if you want to, i’d be happy to see what you come up with. Good luck.
