Conceptual 3S rebalance thread (keep rebalance discussion in here!)

I would much rather have Chun be top-tier than Elena.

The only reason it’s super cancelled is to get it out and charged. It’s not throw fireball xx throw super, its throw meaty fireball, activate and WAIT, then let it go on block/hit/jump.

What does any of this have to do with my question?

Ya thinking about it I see I was wrong about Q and how it would affect his meter gains. but in this games’ system whiiffing normals to build meter should not be removed. that would do alot more harm than good. Actually i cant see anything good coming from that…

But the divide here is pretty strong. Veteran players dont mind tiers. New school players want every character to be “viable” so to speak. interesting. It’s like the school of Ono against the school of hard knocks

It’s all viable. Just some fights are fucking hard. I don’t know why difficulty is so shunned but that’s how a lot of people feel I guess.

As for meter building with whiffs. You can’t really decrease it much more. Isn’t a whiff fierce like 2 and strong like 1? So what you’ll make fierce 1? That’s just stupid you might as well not have anything from whiffs then. In which case you need to tweak a whole fuckload of shit in the game. You’d really need to rebuild it from the ground up I feel.

Something I would be curious to see: If a projectile is parried the projectile’s owner gains meter equivalent to a whiffed fierce. I think that would be an interesting experiment and change quite a few situations. It would be interesting if parrying Remy’s LOVs meant building him up twice as fast or faster than blocking (which would still give him meter).

Just a thought. Not something I want to see in some 4th version of the game, just something I would like to test out.

Just saw something from the past.

Rook and D.D. from the dropped Capcom Fighting All Stars

Both these characters seem interesting and collecting dust.

Making it Invicible during its active frames. During start up he can be vunerable, but while he is in the air, invicible.

And yes. 2 Stock on SA3 is fine. Because 1. He slams the opponent into the ground anyway so he cant even combo after the final hit. And Shoryu Cannon does about just as much and YOU CAN combo 2 Shoryu Cannon’s.

You don’t understand what i wrote.
SA3 is a high damaging super, better than Q SA2, and just a little less than Gigas. WIth two stocks, Sean would be able to confirm one with something as easy as cr.lk x 2 to get half of opponent life and then he would be also ready to get other half withe the same thing. And it’s fine for you?

You do have a point. But that trick doesnt really work on pro players. And plus if Sean misses SA3 and it doesnt hit, he’s fucked. It’s not like Chunli’s SA2 with all that chip damage. But I understand where your coming from. Maybe if he gets 2 stocks. Than the damage can be on par with that of Ken’s SA3.

  • I could understand if you wanted to make it have a 0-frame jump startup(I dunno if it does), but making it invincible in the air?

  • Hyper Tornado’s range is better than Shoryu Cannon’s. Sean never needed to have to tack an extra combo after SA3 because he’s in a fairly decent position to do something else afterwards anyway. The only great benefit Shoryu Cannon has that Hyper Tornado doesn’t is the fact that you can juggle or anti-air and still get most of the important damage. I’m fine with it being one bar; you’d might as well be asking for a two-bar Rolling Thunder…

I dont think invicible in the air is to much ask. It would act like Adon’s dive kick in SSFIVAE. The move already hops over fireballs (If you learn to time it PRECISELY) but its a bitch when you use an EX Wheel kick the the opponent can easily do an light air attack and hit you. Maybe an optional solution is to make the animation of where he finally flips and kicks the opponent down shorter because that move has 4 phases. (Start-up) (Airborn) (Getting in range of opponent) (Attack)

i dunno… he’s the Dan of 3rd strike. He’s not “supposed” to be a good character. He’s supposed to suck. Why do we want to buff characters that are not meant to be good?

Yeah. I don’t know if he’s like Dan where he’s meant to be a parody and a failure but he’s meant to be not as strong I think. Simply because he’s young and just learning.

Exactly. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Originally he was gonna be the only Shoto in the game, but Capcom wanted to have the whole Ken to Sean relationship like lets say… Piccolo had to Gohan, Mentor to Student. Sean was gonna to progress through the series and get stronger with each sequel but he would lose in the process, but he would learn from it. I think if SF3 was a bigger of a success they woulda have gone on with SF4 sooner and Sean would have been the main star like he was meant to be.

But Ono did say he had plans for Sean for SFV. I trusts that he’ll do good with my fav character since childhood. BUT BEYOND THIS SHIT REBALANCING!!!

Sean’s been talked about enough as much I love talking about him, lets talk about another character.

Let’s talk about Necro.

You mean Alba Meira and Soiree Meria? Yea you’re right.

BUMP.

I really, really, really want them to rebalance this game slightly. It seems as though there are lots of well designed and intriguing characters in the bottom half of the tier list who just aren’t viable in competitive scenarios. E.g. I would love to main Remy or Q but it feels like a bit of a waste of time right now. I guarantee 80% of people will play either Ken, Chun or Yun.

The best thing they could do is let all the noobs experience this version of 3S for 6 months or so, and then release a rebalance patch, perhaps with a new character, or even someone from SF4, like Rufus.

80 percent of people will play Ken, Akuma or Ryu. When I played this game on Xbox Live back in the day it was rare to see Chuns and even rarer to see Yuns because they didn’t have DP’s and you’d have to learn stuff like hit confirming and parrying and reacting. Akuma tatsu spam was the cool thing to do unless you were playing against a tournament going Akuma etc.

Besides I’ve seen top Remy’s and Q’s place pretty decently in the ranking battles in Japan. What stops you from doing well with them also? Your eyes don’t squint enough?

Plus they let you ban up to 3 characters you don’t like if you make your own lobby. Sean is ridiculously OP so he’ll be banned in my lobbies.

the only things that are significant would be some hitbox alterations and the way meter is built/works…as well as the meter lengths of some super arts and we are gravy…
