You have to reinstall to each computer.

Is there a way to not make Firefox update for me…

Simple question.

Doing Speed tests through a firewall on a Vista OS. I usually use Speakeasy and Speedtest.net

Vista used What’s an simplest wasy to temporarily disable the firewall to test my speeds and reneable it? Vista seems to be fighting my request to tomporarily disable it.

Preppy is correct. The program will not run properly if you don’t.

Also - Preppy The problem I’m having above seems to affect my viewing videos on your site! >=[

Tools > Options > Advanced > Update tab > uncheck Firefox

thanks

My laptop doesn’t read CD format disks at all. So I can’t play PC games from CD format discs… How do I fix this problem?

Does this cover it?

How is that affecting videos from my site… ? There shouldn’t be any correlation. =\

Thanks to all for the PC advice. I ended up piece-mealing together a better computer for maybe $500 less than I had originally planned on spending, which is sweet. ( 8800 GTX, WinTVHVR 1800, Q9450processor, P5K-E mo-bo, and a 1394b firewire card for good measure.)

Check for Viruses.

Uninstall the device in Device Manager.

If that doesn’t work, go into Safe Mode and do the same (sometimes “ghost drivers” remain resident in Safe Mode).

If that still doesn’t solve it, try to clean it if you still have a CD-Rom cleaning kit from the 80’s or early 90’s.

What sort of drive is it? A DVD drive, or CD-ROM drive? If it’s a CD-Rom, you’re probably better just replacing it, since you can upgrade to a DVD drive so cheaply. If you end up having to replace it, check with the manufacturer for a warranty. Even if you decide to just buy one, you could stack the drives for burnin’ and rippin’ purposes.

Apparently its a (from the laptop itself):

“DVD superMulti optical drive that reads and writes up to 11 formats.”

I only use it for DVDs mostly. I can still burn stuff to DVD.

Could be a software screw-up. Try the steps I listed above.

And oh yeah, since this is a laptop, is it removable?

awesome stuff preppy

New Processor = Having to Buy another copy of Vista?

About a week and a half ago I bought a PC, I got a mobo/processor combo with some ram. About 4 days later I decided that I was going to update the processor so I could play UT3 on my PC, so I did so. Today, I turned on my PC to a notice saying that because of a significant hardware change, I will either need to buy a new license for windows, or my copy of windows will STOP WORKING in 3 days. Note that I PAYED FULL PRICE for this copy of windows home premium, and now I cannot use it because I upgraded my processor. Is this normal? What am I supposed to do here? Sounds like serious BS to me and it makes me angry! Every time I call microsoft, I get put on hold for 30 minutes, only to have my call dropped. I’ve done this twice.

Did I buy some bootleg shit? I’ve got the box with the CD and the stickers with the product key and everything.

It’s normal. There should be a place where you can re-authenticate.

Stuff like that is why a lot of people hate Microsoft and a few other companies so much. They automatically assume you’re doing something illegal.

How can you tell if your drive can be removed? It really looks like it can’t be taken out.

I’ll try what you posted later tonight. Are there any chance/backlash of thing something going wrong?

It’s probably not a removable drive bay (do they even have those anymore?). you’d know if it was. No, nothing will go wrong. Windows will automatically install the drivers for any drive you install or remove.

So I just uninstalled it… Now what?

You mean like a website, or going to the store where I bought it? I went through the phone authentication process and it sent me straight to customer service, where I sat on hold. Should I consult the retailer? I bought it from a small computer shop that builds custom PCs.

Type in **regwiz /r **And the wizard should pop up for you to re-activate.

Info on the problem can be found here

I think this has been asked before, but is there a cheap device to hook up, let’s say…my PS2 to my computer monitor?

[DVI]

Where would I type that info into? Also, when I said ‘windows home premium’, I meant to say ‘vista home premium’. looks like the link you sent referenced XP. Thanks!
