I had the same problem, and it scared the shit outta me. Mine was a mobo failure, so yours may very well be too
Okay guys, I need a little help.
Does anyone have any experience with Wireless-N routers? I’m kind of ignorant on the recieving end of things. Does my wireless card need to be Wireless-N enabled to go past the 54Mbits rate? Or will it automatically hit the max once I install the router? Or is it card specific?
Also does anyone have the D-Link 4500 Wireless-N router? Is it worth the buy? Was the reset problem fixed with firmware updates?
I’m having issues with my laptop right now. Running 2 gig RAM, im using at the most 70% of my memory 120 GB HDD., running vista./
HP DV6000 widescreen
so everything loads up, I can run a few programs like a browser and a messanger. i havent cleaned my computer since the beggining either. so right now, my problems im having is, I can have a few programs oipen, when i try to access anything from my start menu, lets say the control panel, the window will pop-up, and nothing in the window, its blank, about 2 seconds later, it’ll disappear, then everything on my desktop will disapper, then the whole task bar, and everything else will disappear. for about 10-20 seconds, I can only view my desktop background, and everything will start to load back up, like my icons and my task bar, but the control panel will be gone. I’m not the greatest at cleaning up my computer or know of how to properly do it without fuckin everything up. when i open my task manager, omg, its full of ish running , i mean ALOT. can someone help with this?
i was told to defrag my computer, but i want to know how to go about doing what i need to do, to have my computer run smoothly again with no problems and all that ish in the task manager, not to be running.
did you even read my post? I get better temperatures with the stock cooler than the zalman.
shenakuma:
Go to the start menu < run MSCONFIG and clock to the “start up” tab at the top. It lists all the programs that runs automatically on your PC when you start it. Uncheck the ones that you don’t need. You probably don’t need any of them, since you can just open up the programs you want from the Start menu.
oh crap. i read it too fast. sorry about that. slap myself in the face
edit: since i’m not planning to OCing, i’ll stick with the stock. i’ll definitely save me 30-60 bucks.
i don’t want to make my new system instable if i ever do plan to OC it. i’ll get the aftermarket ones then.
What’s the best/preferred way to rip a non-CSSd DVD to an ISO?
Try DVD decrypter While I’m here, I’ve got a problem. I was on my PC last night and I was playing a game. Suddenly, my pc made a thump noise and froze up, then shut down. I checked my cables etc, and turned it back on. Now it boots up for about 5- 1O sec, and shuts itself down. I opened it and checked all the components, but still no luck. Any help?

EVGA is better overall… but I think the GS is a better card… personally… i’d recommend these:

^ if you have PCI-E2
or these if you can swing the extra cash:

^^Best deal
EVGA gives lifetime warranties
I have no clue if I have a PCI-E2 slot. Right now I’m using an x550, and I think the rest of the slots on my mobo are AGP.
what’s an x550?
if you have an AGP, then you can’t use any of those cards.
the EVGA card that you posted up is PCI-E2.
can you take a picture of your motherboard and post it?
x550 is an ancient ATI card that I bought to free myself from the integrated P.O.S. that my computer came with.

1.is your gfx card nvidia? i had the same issue (control panel blank then disappears)
"If any of you are still having this problem, a workaround is posted over here:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=27571
- Launch services.msc from a run command
- Find the SLUNotify service & stop it
- Find the Software Licensing service & stop it (it may say that ReadyBoost needs that service to run; stop it anyway)
- Restart both services, starting with Software Licensing
That’s all. No reboot needed. Kudos to Toby at the nVidia forums."
2.high memory usage?
?Empty cache isn?t doing you any good. It?s expensive, high-speed memory sucking down power for zero benefit. The primary mission in the life of every cache is to populate itself as quickly as possible with the data that?s most likely to be needed? and to consistently deliver a high ?hit rate? of needed data retrieved from the cache. Otherwise you?re going straight to the hard drive, mister, and if you have to ask how much going to the hard drive will cost you in performance, you can?t afford it.?

defrag isn’t going to help anything.
3.about the processes- i’m not sure what is super necessary myself as far as vista goes.
oh…
you have PCI-E
you can’t use any that say PCI-Express 2.0
That’s what I was afraid of…
I sincerely doubt it’s within my budget/skill to do any of the required steps in obtaining a PCI-E2 slot. Like…installing a completely new motherboard. What other cards do you suggest?
Does http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131055 look any good?
What? PCI-E 2.0 graphics cards are backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.x slots, and vice versa
Is there a media remote I could use for my laptop? I’m looking for something that just does, play, pause, stop, next/previous, and volume control. I saw 1 or 2 online, but they seemed very expensive.
It would be convenient to use when I’m laying down on my bed, doing laundry, or just not near my desk.
Hello, I’m having a problem with my external hard drive.
I have a 250 gig western digital external hard drive with 90 gigs of crap on it. I just tried to copy a 4 gig ISO file from my laptop’s HD to my external and it says disk is full, even though it should have 160 gigs free.
Right clicking on the external HD in window’s explore and going to properties shows 190 gigs free ( in the pie chart) but it won’t accept another 4 gigs.
Any ideas? Thank you for your help.
Was your external formatted into FAT32? Because FAT and FAT32 can’t handle file sizes that are bigger than ~4GB.
