Help with DVD/DVD RW Drivers

hey im having trouble with those drivers, DVD and DVD RW. the icons in the my computer window arent showing up, and i tried searching drivers for my model that had related things to do with them, and installed them all and restarted and i still cant get it.

heres is the page

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGCRA820G&LOC=3

can anyone help me get the icons back so i can select and use them again?

i been trying to follow help and support. another thing is it has the yellow exclamation point, and it says the device isnt working properly, and it also doesnt tell me why. my dvd RW and dvd players are built-in, so i dont understand why its not working properly  . help is greatly appreciated, even if its an idea or just trying.

right click "my computer"
click "manage"
click “disk management”

what do you see listed as your drives?

one sec. ok heres what i have from ur instructions.

Ok, it looks like your bios isn’t detecting your drives. you need to get into your bios (and since all bios are different), reactivate the drives. i had a problme like this at one point. if you just popped your bios battery out for 30 seconds, put it back in to reset your bios, it should work fine.

wheres my bios battery located at? is it safe to do it while my computer is on?

and how would i get into my bios and reactivate the drivers? i already tried to click update drivers on the hardware menu. and i also uninstalling and installing it back, still no luck. i got the yellow exclamation point saying its not working properly.

but yeah about the bios battery eject, ill do that. just let me know where its at and if i can do it while my computer is on.

you have to turn it off. open the case up. it’s a small watch battery and on every computer it’s located somewhere else.

this is a stupid question, but it IS a desktop, right? just wanted to make sure.

while your case is open too, make sure that the cables connecting your optical drives are securely in place, and if you have any extra IDE or SATA cables (i don’t know which is connecting your system), then a replacement might not be a bad idea.

hmm i never opened up my computer before, or have tried to. would i want to take it apart from the top or bottom?

and yes it is a desktop computer.

the side panel…

look at the back. whatever side the slots lean towards, take off the opposite panel.

http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/c/connect.gif, see that? the slots are ont he left, so take off the panel that would be on the right of that picture.

if it’s more like that, then you’re going to have to figure it out yourself

or you can just look your computer up online, and see if there’s a tutorial.

hmmm well ill try this some other time, it doesnt seem like its placed the same as in the picture.

i really appreciate all ur help though, thanks

Hey guys, i was going to make a thread for ipods, zenstones and such. I thought this would be an ok place to ask, cuz i didn’t want to make a thread in general forum.

I bought a Zenstone for 40 bucks, it then died on me. I emailed the support center at Zenstone Company, and told them what happen and such. All they needed was my serial number so i gave them that. Everything is all sorted out, but i’m confused with all these emails they’ve been sending me.

Yo Mixah, where you live…? Let me take you out to dinner sometimes. :bgrin: Thx for the help man.

O no man, i don’t live in Europe. Actually live in NYC, got my zenstone at circuit city.

that sucks. this monitor has served me well. :frowning:

on that note, how do i check what resolutions my video card supports? im looking thru newegg right now, and there are some sweet ws deals im definitely gonna take advantage of… just first, gotta make sure the thingll work once i get it, lol. for the record, im running a GeForce 6800 Ultra.

I have a problem. I have adware/spyware I can’t get rid of. My Spyware Protection says the adware/spyware can cause problems with my web browser. Everytime I type in a url it sends me to a different site where I can get a bunch of serial numbers & keygens.
When I delete the adware/spyware from my Spyware Protection program, it always seems to come back. Anyone have any ideas how to remove it completely?

Wireless router problem

ok, i picked up anetgear wireless g router at bestbuy last week ( G/54mbps/2.4 ghz. )

i tried to install it into my pc so i can go wireless with my ps3, wii and 360 and still be online with my computer. many times my friend tried to connect this to my pc, but when it installs, it says it tries to connect online and find a online source of some kind, thing is, it goes online for a quick second, i can see that im online, because my online window on the bottom of the screen pops up, then, vanishes, and says a online connection could not be found.

wtf, i was Just online, anyone know wtf is going on or have a good idea of what my problem could be? help me srk !

im running windows xp btw.

Cool. I’ll give it a shot when I get home from class.

What type of model is your Netgear router?

I downloaded, updated & ran it, but all the adware stuff came back somehow. :wasted:
