USB ports only put out and draw .5amps. Most PSUs put out 10 to 20 Amps on the +5v rails. So, power output from the USB port isn’t a problem
Sounds like the usb device that the headphones use themselves are wonky. I’d take them to a store and ask if you can “test drive” a machine and see if it gives you the same problems.
i dont know what my bro did to his computer but he cant go on the internet. when the ethernet is plugged in, the icons in the bottom right corner says the network cable is unplugged for some reason. theres also another icon that says there is limited or no connection. how do i fix this? the only thing i tried was renewing the ip address via command prompt but it ididnt work.
i got a wireless router (linksy) , and i havent been able to connect wirelessly for some time now. it cant acquire the network address. im getting that limited or no connection thing. i have to directly connect with the ethernet cables to go on the internet. should i reinstall the software? note: my sister bf installed the wireless, not me, way back when.
For those of you who like keyboard shortcuts/typing more than clicking with your mouse (me), but don’t have a Mac to make use of Quicksilver (EBvFUhTqKK4]clicky), then I recommend .
either your ethernet card or built in etherner port is fucted or ur missing drivers. try updating them via the mobo website or the card manufacturers site OR buy yourself another ethernet card if it comes down to it. However if its on your board and despite the firmware/driver update and Still not working. go with the card as your alternative
get rid of that piece of shit and use something simplistic; go d-link and ur ready to go.
There could be a few reasons here, assuming that the hardware is functioning properly. And both solutions could possibly apply to both of your problems.
You may need to “powercycle” your modem, router and PC. Essentially the easiest and most common of all router solutions/fixes. One or more of the three components may have fallen out-of-sync with the others. Simply powerdown everything. Wait for roughly 30 seconds to minute giving time for your line to drop the connection. Power on the modem, waiting for the cable/dsl, ethernet and any other activity lcd’s to turn green (commonly this is the color that all is functioning and good). Power on the router making certain that the wan and lan lcd’s are solid green and finally power on the PC.
Another area to check is your encryption/security setup within the router. How does your system authenticate itself on your network and using what type of method? You need to make certain that the settings for the access point match what you have entered in the wireless client. If you are uncertain about any of these settings or find that your network is using any form of encryption, then you will need your sister’s boyfriend’s help.
You may also be utilizing an out-dated router. Check for any firmware upgrades. Many routers experience an issue of not being compatible with DHCP clients after upgrading operating systems.
I already have a 4 port router but I am looking for something with more ports cuz I got 3 computers and xbox connected to it and I gotta unplug something every time I wanna play xbox360 online :arazz:
i’m actually going to help you out, because i know the answer, and it’s simple.
router: takes your IP address and makes 256 or so artificial IPs… so, something like. 192.168.1.0-255, and some are reserved, so you only get about 100 or so. This is if you have one internet connection and you want to get several computers / xboxs / etc on it.
switch, takes your existing IP address and splits it. So if you have one IP address coming in, and you want two computers on, you can do that, but only have one computer on at a time. If you have 2 IP addresses coming in on your connection, you can hook up two computers. The most common use, is since routers typically only have 4 ports, you can use it as an expansion, or use it to create a LAN.
Most broadband routers are a combination Ethernet switch (or hub) and Network Address Translator (NAT). They usually include a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, Domain Name Service (DNS) proxy server, and a hardware firewall to protect the Local Area Network (LAN) from malicious intrusion from the Internet.
Ethernet switches can be connected to routers with multiple PC ports to expand a LAN. Essentially allowing you the additional connections you require beyond the standard four that are built into the router. Many of the latest routers allow for almost 200 of these such connections total. But only limit it phyically to four.
In a nutshell, you will need both such devices if you wish to allow for more than four ethernet enabled devices to share your connection. They do however, create routers with more than the common four LAN ports. These units are often “pricey” and not the sort of thing that you can regularly find on retail shelves. It would be far cheaper to just purchase a seperate switch. Many people also simply bridge two routers together to acheive the same effect, establishing one as the WAN interface and DHCP server. So you do have options as to how exactly you wish to solve your dilemma.
^ ok so I can just use that switch thing with my existing router and split 1 connection for all my consoles ? is there any kind of bandwidth loss or whatever ?
I could always get an 8 port router though…saw one at compusa for $100.
Ok so when I bought a new video card a month or two back it was to fix the problems I had with the display (everything came out glitched / blocky / full of symbols, like those old NES games).
The problem now is that the monitor will go into this state where it thinks there’s DVI cable connected, so it turns off, but then seconds later turns itself on. It happens several times a day, and I haven’t been able to figure out what the problem is. I tried connect the monitor to my comp via a VGA cable but oddly enough it doesn’t even register it being plugged in.
Is there something wrong with the monitor? This only began once my previous video card died out. Anybody know what’s up? I’m desparate here.
sounds like your problem has been the monitor… i don’t think your card was really at fault… your monitor might have just been fucked up the whole time…
