as long as you make sure that you’re not transferring files to and from it
eg. if you’re doing NOTHING at all… and your computer’s sitting idle, it’s usually safe… although i’ve heard of crashes… i don’t even bother with that thing when using my jump drive or mp3 player.
im new to linux. do you guys know how or where i can find a howto on installing slackware 12 w/ windows xp if possible. if one absolutely had to be a primary OS, i would choose xp cus it’s the family computer, but the other way would be fine.
there was a power outage at my house last week, and my computer would not turn on when the power came back. The green light on the back for my Power Supply kept flashing green, and would not turn on my computer.
after i opened it, and unplugged it from my motherboard, it gave me a solid green light, so then i plugged it back into the mobo and worked fine. When i had to move my computer to a different room today it did the same thing, and had to use the same method to turn on my computer.
it only happens once i unplug the power from my computer.
can someone explain to me what is possibly wrong with my comp?
Everytime i try to download something it wont pop up for me to download…for example youtube. It says i dont have the latest flash player, and when i go to download it never pops up.No its not my pop upblocker…i tried that. Another example is when i check my mail…i never get a message just a blank space
If all fails ill system restore and lose itunes -.-
Instead of doing all that, just unplug it from the wall, or toggle the voltage selector on the power supply and hold the power button in for 10 seconds. Saves you a ton of work.
This has already been answered, but I felt like including a link to the PC Decrapifier again because I posted it a few pages back and I wanted to bring it back to light for just such an issue.
Many people, myself included, format brand new retail computers first thing. They give you so much garbage that I would usually rather just do away with everything and start fresh.
I would recommend OpenOffice because it’s free. With StarOffice I think you’re still paying $70.
You could use partitioning software like GParted to set up your partitions and install Slackware to those. However, I would recommend hitting up a Linux-specific forum (I don’t know if Slackware has their own or not) and asking there because there might be a much easier way to do it. When I used Ubuntu, dual-booting was one of the installation options and all I had to do was move a slider to tell it how much HDD space I wanted to give to my Ubuntu partition and it handled the rest. I’ve never used Slackware, though, so I can’t give you any specifics for it.
Eh, I’d rather not format. Google offers StarOffice free as a download along with their other optional software, but I think it’s more basic than OpenOffice.
Add that to the registry (or whatever variation is amusing to you). Your MSN Messenger friend will be prompted for whatever “name” is. URL doesn’t show up anymore TMK, but used to be where they were told they could install “name” from. SO:
You have invited qotu to start using crack. Please wait for a response or Cancel (Alt+Q) the pending invitation.
qotu does not have using crack installed (or it is disabled) and is not able to accept your invitation.
It’s just kind of a joke WTH prank. It’s pretty useless, but amusing.
so that she can choose which computer she wants…if you’re asking why she needs the computer, its mainly going to be used for graphic design. she’s a graphics major.
